Mike Mayock's position rankings for 2015 NFL Draft (1 Viewer)

I really couldn't care less about mocks. They don't tell me anything. They are popular for the casual fan. Nothing wrong with that at all, but the best mockers wind up with 7 or 8 correct. Why a I gonna follow along with an exercise in futility?
I agree, but ifthey're going to essentially turn their rankings into a psuedo-mock, then I'd prefer they separate them out.

To adjust rankings based on rumors, etc. eliminates the credibility of the ranking in the first place IMO.

I agree totally, and I think Mayock was always a bit overrated anyway. I think a lot of draft fans got a bit sick of Kiper and McShay sniping at each other, and Mayock comes along, and sounds very reasonable, and has a background of actually playing, unlike a Kiper, locked into his mom's basement. He was refreshing, and he is much more likable than either Kiper the Baltimore geek, or McShay, the smarmy frat boy.

I think Kiper and Mayock have both lost a bit off their fastball, to be honest. I don't believe that Mayock is really interested in telling us who he doesn't like, just the guys the NFL likes. That has a lot of value pre-draft, it really does, but after round 3, Mayock doesn't do anyone any good. If a player sucks, we'll never say, "Mayock called it!!"

Kiper doesn't even put out a guide anymore. That's fine, he's on the Mt. Rushmore of draftniks with Joel Buschbaum, but it's a bummer. Consider this: When Jeff George wen't 1st overall, Kiper had him ranked 84th overall, and stood by it on ESPN. Now, he's had his misses, but there simply isn't a big name on TV that would make a call like that today.

Yeah I agree. It's all about how great everyone is now.
That's what is great about podcasts. If anything you might hear too much criticism of overhyped players and come away with the impression there are only a dozen first rounders... which may be true in a given year.

There are a few guys that get ripped on almost every podcast and it certainly shapes how you feel about them. For instance Ray, I am pretty sure only his mother loves him at this point. Seems mocked so much higher then the draft community thinks of him. Finally saw him down in the 20's in a recent one.

I'm still surprised that he has Shaq as a safety when he refuses to play the position. I suspect that Anthony Harris and James Sample will be late additions to the list. Draftniks really like Sample.
I'm surprised after Shaq was a little underwhelming in terms of athleticism at the combine people still consider him a S.I will say I don't think this is as bad a S class as many people were saying at the end of the season, but that may be because there are so many CB's that are being projected at S.
Yeah. His ranking are strange. I don't know how he can project Carter as the #5 safety when he hasn't played the position. Rawlins has such good ball skills I think he succeed almost anywhere on the field except for against outside speed. If Rowe was considered a pure safety he probably would be the #2. Here is a different take on the position: https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2015/04/16/cff-overview-s-top-of-the-crop/
From that link both Harris and Sample are guys that seem like amazing values where they are being mocked and are exactly the examples I meant when this S class is being judged a bit too harshly. People often say, "TE and S are weak" but TE is a disaster compared to S. Maybe people are basing that opinion based on the first two rounds.

Dane Brugler retweeted Louis Riddick Couldn't agree more. No idea why he's flying under the radar. Top-75 pick.

Louis Riddick @LRiddickESPN "No safeties in this draft.". Yea ok. I will take James Sample/Louisville.
