Will Mike Smith be jettisoned for this performance?Time after time this season his team could not remain competitive after taking a double digit lead. On top of that, the GM is emboldened by his extremely successful blockbuster trade for Julio Jones. Could a 1-4 playoff record, in which that one win came in a miracle after a huge collapse, result in Smith getting Marty-ed?

I doubt it. He's the most successful coach in Falcons history. Also consider, the roster is not perfect. The defense has holes.I think he's done about as well as possible considering the roster.

Wat? Not competitive? They almost went to the Superbowl. They were the underdog. What coaching decisions in today's game cost Atl? If Ryan doesn't turn it over twice then the outcome is maybe different. Having said that, I still think he's a little too conservative and relies on his defense to make plays when they aren't a top D yet (not today but the last two years). Again though, I can't think of any decision he made today that I would question.

If there is any chance he's let go, Cowher, Gruden, etc. would be lining up to lead that team with Ryan at QB. No way they make a change though. With holes on D and at the RB position the team is moving in the right direction.

People are making too much of the "collapse". Yes, the score was 17-0 but there were still 3 full quarters left to play vs. SF, and the score was 17-7 pretty early in the 2nd. Still anyone's game at that point.

No way. Nolan did a pretty good job overall considering the defensive roster. Great gameplans against Peyton Manning, Drew Brees and Eli. In fact we played good defense against most of the traditional QBs. The dual threat QBs shredded us. But that's because the LB corps is weak, besides Weatherspoon.I think most people are happy overall with the coaching staff.

Gruden would get on his knees in front of arthur blank for a shot at coaching (and destroying) the Falcons.

What is it like in ATL? I know last year some fans were calling for Smith and Ryan's head. Did the Seattle win erase all of that doubt?
