Mike Vick meeting with the Pats (1 Viewer)

No way they take Brady out of the game at anypoint. He will be used as a Bush/Harvin type.

Makes perfect sense. One of the few teams that doesn't have to worry about a PR hit and won't face any pressure to get him on the field quickly. I can see him standing on the sidelines and randomly coming in sometime after the bye for a trick play or two.

Great fit for both, but I'd see Belichick doing what should have been done some time ago -- immediately converting Vick to an RB/WR hybrid.

Slash Pt. II........If the Pats get Vick, start engraving the Lombardi immediately......Vick throwing deep to Moss out of a spread formation (i.e., one-on-one coverage).......What a sight it would be to behold - biggest cannon meets fleetest feet

If Vick is going to be a backup, I see this as a reasonable place to go. But I think Vick wants to start, and I expect he will explore those options first before considering his options as an NFL Backup.

I don't see any reason they would ever take Tom Brady out of the game. I just don't see why a "gimmick" is necessary when you alreayd have a nearly unstoppable combination Brady to Moss.

In game mode, I would definitely choose Vick+Moss deep versus any team's two CBs in a foot race. Just go deep see what happens.I've been saying safety since a QB just couldn't gauge how quick he could get to the ball and if he grabs an INT he's gone.if BB is coaching him, anything is possible. I wouldn't even be surprised to see him return kicks if BB thought he could go the distance.

man... but lining up in the backfield with Fred Taylor?

Brady

Taylor

Vick

Moss

Galloway

all on the field at the same time? Sheesh. That's vanity...

A total Belicheck move...no risk other than PR which he could care less about and high potential reward. Who's better at the wildcat than the original? I'd be surprised if he didn't sign with them.

I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't sign him since I really don't know what kind of shape hes in and what kind of impression he gives off, but I certainly wouldn't be surprised if they did sign him.

Barstool sports is not a very credible "source"... just sayin...

Belichick wouldn't rule it out in his mid day presser, but that could just be him trying to drive the asking price up for a divison rival (Buffalo).

AP report has Vick in Virginia earlier today declining questions outside the courthouse. Certainly not impossible to go from VA to MA in that amount of time (depending on when hearing was), but puts it more in the improbably category.

Still think NE is interested if he's willing to do a RB/WR thing and return kicks. No way he gets QB reps in NE.

Who really cares the guy is useless.
I bet you said Randy Moss was too? And Corey Dillion? And that no-name 6th round draft pick QB to back up Bledsoe .... what was his name? Welker for WR2? LOL ....uh ,,, yeah, who's laughing ? Vick to NEP makes all the sense in the world really and the explosiveness of that offense would be something the likes the NFL has never seen before

I think he could be very effective if you use him in limited, designed plays for certain situations. As an everydown QB, I'd agree.
I dont. He is effective as an everyday QB as well. History doesnt lie. This will be perfect for Vick and the Pats for a 1 year deal. The Pats become immediately more dangerous and Vick gets a chnace to prove he still has it.

False alarm. Vick is nowhere near Boston.

Linkage
How is this automatically a false alarm? Vick's court appearance was in Virgina in the morning. He could have left and flown to Boston afterwards. I'm not saying it is or it isn't true, only that he *COULD* have jumped on a plane and flown in.

I think IF he signs with New England it would be just about the perfect scenario. So many NFL teams trying to get out in front of the story and profess moral high horses, as though morality really plays a role in their decisions on building a football team. And then along comes THE model franchise of the league and considers bringing in a guy who all the other teams were too "moral" to sign.

:lmao:

Man that's poetic. I am REALLY hoping he signs in New England now. It'll be a crying shame if he doesn't.

I'd say that it would be more than a little improbable. The AP story was posted a little over an hour ago...

What are the chances Vick would even commercial via logan if he were coming into Foxboro? He would arrive via T.F Green (PVD) or at Hanscom via private jet like almost all of their visitors do. Especially the high profile players. The last thing Belichick wants is to create a circus on the second day of camp. Especially if they havent even worked the guy out yet.

Agree?

Michael Vick would have to be delusional to think he is getting a starting job anywhere.

I really hope he goes to the Patriots. I think that team would give him the correct structure to put his life back together.

If the Patriots use him it will be in the backfield with Brady. Brady is too damn good to take off the field IMO.

You also can't say the guy is useless--you haven't seen him play in two years. Useless is a strong term to use.

Michael Vick is a lot of things, but "useless" as a football player is certainly not one of them. For any team in the league.

Let's please stop with the silliness about Vick being "useless," that's RIDICULOUS.

Vick isn't someone many teams should want as their starting QB, but he's absolutely useful as a football player. Remember, he's not going to cost big $$$ this time around, and would be the ultimate option/wild cat QB which is something teams are striving for. Plus, he certainly would be among the better options as a backup QB; let's not forget he won plenty of games in ATL.

Yeah you're right, I guess the Pats need to institute the wild cat to win games. This bad QB brings nothing to the table for the Pats, NOTHING. He used to at least fill seats by name alone now he will have the opposite effect.

If the Pats go into the wildcat, even if they only roll it out once or twice over the course of the season, they give other teams one more thing to have to prepare for. That alone adds value.

Model franchise? You can't be serious.
Love them or hate them, no NFL team has been more successful in the salary cap era than the Patriots. It's not even close.
From a winnong/losing perspective, maybe they've done welll.... but your original comment was referring to "morality" and the Pats are hardly a model team when it comes to "morals" - they've been caught cheating, and they continue to be suspected of cheating in other instances. While you can argue they will "win at all costs" - it's clear that they've already tossed aside any semblance of moral character to win. While I never wish ill on anyone, it seems like it's only a matter of time before the Pats suffer the consequences of their actions. Perhaps signing Vick will be the catalyst of their doom.
