Busted for DUI, in jail till 3:00 PM according to local radio.....

Pulled over sometime between 2:00 AM and 3:00 AM this morning.

His Arrest record shows he passed 2 breath tests at 0.061 and 0.065. The legal limit is 0.08 in Florida.

They are keeping him in custody. The suspicion is weed.

It's a non-issue if his tests don't come back positive for weed or some other illegal drug.

Word is from Tampa police is that the breathalizer test is the last of the tests that they issue. The officer doing the said the BAC could be 0.00 and you could still be taken to the station. If you show other signs of "impairment", that is the main reason why you can fail the Field Sobriety Test. And that is what he ultimately failed.

They are still reporting he is in jail till 3:00PM. I tend to agree that he must be released by now, and the report backs that up. But they had an attorney on air to discuss the case. He says Mike Williams has nothing to worry about, because the BAC was below the legal limit. Further, he would have advised Mike Williams to refuse to offer a urine sample, and is puzzled as to why he offered it. He went on to discuss that by law in the state of Florida, they keep you in a cell for a minimum of 8 hours to make sure that you aren’t a threat to public safety.

But the fact is he did submit to the urine test.

Perhaps he submitted to the urine test because he knew he was clean?

Well this sucks. The Bucs play a late game Sunday too so we may not know until late in the afternoon if the team is going to impose any punishment for this week.

This thread title is a tad bit misleading. As of now it appears Williams may not be guilty of anything. Cops always say you failed the sobriety test.

Here's a joke:

What's the difference between a drunk driver and a high driver? A drunk driver drives through the red lights and a high driver stops for the green lights.

There is NOTHING misleading about the thread title. Check the links. He was arrested (which in my language means “busted” for suspicion of DUI. That is the official language, if you prefer. I don’t think the word “suspicion” changes the thread title’s meaning. The fact is he was taken into custody and booked into jail and released. What again is misleading about the title? He may get off scott-free, but that doesn’t change what happened.

I would have like the word "suspicion" in there. I do think it changes the meaning, as I figured he was over the alcohol limit going off the thread title. I'm probably splitting hairs. But what did you think of my joke?

fair enough, I made your requested change.

If his urine test comes back clean, I would think that the cop's dashboard cam would have to show Williams failing the sobriety test badly and obviously to get any sort of conviction.

That being said, what an idiot.

Huge sigh of relief:

Adam_Schefter Adam Schefter

A Buccaneers official said, after reviewing facts, WR Mike Williams will travel to San Francisco and start on Sunday against 49ers.

This witticism caused amusement.

Whats the point of laws if cops dont need to follow them to arresst someone?

In other words whats the point of the legal limit? I met cops who are stupid as hell, what makes their judgement superior?

All right, you guys got me. I take it back. I let my anal-ness get the better of me.

Mike Williams - WR - Buccaneers

ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms that the Bucs will start rookie WR Mike Williams in Week 11 despite his Friday morning DUI arrest.

Schefter spoke to Bucs sources early Friday, and they don't sound concerned with the arrest. Williams was reportedly pulled over for going 12 MPH over the limit. He volunteered to take the field sobriety test, and was deemed to have failed by police officers. Assuming he wasn't on drugs (and it doesn't sound like he was), it's not difficult to imagine that the cops had it out for him. Williams' blood-alcohol content was significantly under the legal limit.

Or perhaps he wasn't thinking clearly as the speeding and swirving accross lanes might indicate.
