Travel agents still exist?

  That was my first thought.  I don't think they're around anymore.

@simsarge just needs to hit up Travelocity, find a good flight, hotel and Google all of the breweries.  I said it upthread a bit, but still will say go to Surly Brewery.  I wish I had have gone while I lived there.

Of course they are. We used one for our 18 person trip this spring.

Good to know.  The company I worked for 15ish years ago always used one to book business trips, but I haven't heard of anyone using one since around that time, honestly.

I’m not sure MSP is on my bucket list,.  If I were to go, Surly would be a must though.

Surly Brewery, among others

You don't have to go to Matt's for a Juicy Lucy, they're everywhere.

I miss living in the Cities... until I remember the winter.
Yep. And the mosquitoes. And that weird red tiny bug infestation in the mid 2000s.

Good people and cultural. Terrible weather.

I use a travel agent from time to time.   Just used one to book a trip to Tahiti/Moorea/Bora Bora in November.  Not only can they sometimes get you deals, but someone who has booked similar trips for a bunch of people in the past probably knows things that you wouldn't.

I am skeptical that a travel agent can find you any screaming deals compared to what you could find on your own. Especially considering the commission or fee or whatever they charge.

I mean don't they use the same websites that we all use? They aren't calling in favors and reaching out to contacts they have, are they?

I also envision every travel agent to be a 65 year old woman trying to hang on to her dying industry. I can't imagine they can navigate the web like we could

I thought the fees mainly came from the airlines and hotels for their commissions?

This is pretty much what lm shooting for. I have a couple of local references, but I want someone got the insider knowledge that Google doesn't. I gotta figure that a minny local yokal knows the hotels, airlines and transfers that my South Jersey referrals are googling for a best guesstimate

Just booked a trip to Virgin Islands with a travel agent.  She got us a $700.00 discount since I was in the military.  Checked online and no one offered military discounts.  Trip ended up being $800.00 less then the best online deal for same location, etc.

Yep. I share this experience. My wife and I use a travel agent for booking all-inclusives and international travel. Each time the agent has provided at least one kernel of knowledge we wouldn’t have known that was immensely helpful.
