Minnesota 2011 (1 Viewer)

Hi everyone,

Can any Minnesota homers (or others) provide their latest sense on the likelihood that Tarvaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels will be the QB in Minnesota next year, and therefore a shark pick-up in the last round of dynasty drafts this year? Has the team given every signal that it is determined to give Tarvaris a chance to start, a la Leinart in Arizona?

Next years' QB isn't on the roster right now. Sage is likely to get traded and if you're T-Jack and are a free agent, would you want to come back here after what's happened the last 2 seasons? Webb needs 3 or 4 seasons minimum before he should see any meaningful action. I could see McNabb here or someone else that's not a rookie.

Ryan Mallett

They won't have high enough of a pick to get Jake Locker or Andrew Luck should he be available.

No it isn't. The OP is obviously looking for advice on whether or not the QB of the future is on the roster now or will come in from elsewhere. Maybe he phrased the question improperly but you know what he meant. Both of your posts add nothing.
The Vikes organization is not very astute at evaluating young QBs. They claim to have faith in Tarvaris, but they obviously don't. I would expect McNabb to be a Viking next year if Favre "retires" after the season. Sage will not be on the opening day roster this year.

I don't think they'll have a high enough pick for Mallett either. Christian Ponder seems like a more realistic option via the draft...otherwise another veteran they pick up somewhere.

I can honestly see the Vikings signing future FA Matt Moore, but only if he does well this year.

Moore is on a 1 year contract and if he does well, I can see a "Drew Brees" situation where he does well, while a rookie is ready to take over and Moore signs with another team, which I am thinking Minnesota would be a good home for him.

So why didn't you just post that the first time?

Tarvaris has taken everything in stride and continued to improve his game. This is actually a good thing for him in my opinion. Nothing the Vikings have done imply that they don't like Tarvaris. Obviously, he's not Brett Favre, but he doesn't have to be. If his decision skills are refined and the game has slowed down for him, then he has a good shot to win on this team. How could you not want to play with that cast? He never should have been thrown to the fire right away anyways, so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. Chances are we see him at some point this season and you can evaluate his play on your own. I think he is worth a roster spot in 30 man dynasty leagues or QB focused leagues
