Minnesota fans rejoice you got some good coaches (1 Viewer)

I like the coaching hires, including Singletary as LB Coach. I think the offense is going to be focussed on getting the run going, which is fine. TJax, however, will be lucky stay in the league as a backup. I think the Vikings will keep Joe Webb as a third string project, get a veteran QB to start the next year, like Young or Orton, and if the rookie QB they want is there at their pick, they will get their QB of the future in the draft. They are talking about the draft and about getting a high round QB pick on the field fast, but I don't think they will pass up Young or Orton if they can get them cheap because of the need to win NOW in the NFL.

I like the coaching moves so far, but the defense hinges on Pagac's promotion and a lot of work in the secondary.
:goodposting: I'm curious on Pagac. Like most, I was thrilled with the Philly game and Paul Allen made it sound as if that defensive plan was all Pagac. However, looking at his resume on Vikings.com he's been a coach for 33 years and there's no mention of him being a Def Coord at the pro level... I assume he hasn't. I'm hopeful, but that is a couriously long time to be in lower positions before being deemed capable as an NFL DC. Of course, if you put guys like Singletary behind him it may not matter, but it's interesting.

This is a bit extreme IMO. While it's clear he's not starter material, I don't think he'll have much of a problem finding a spot on another team as a backup. He still has great physical ability.

I'm pretty happy with the hires as well.

Now let's get rid of the zone blocking, get a good center and road-grade for ADP. Guy seems to be doing it all by himself. If they upgrade the line at all I look for ADP to be gangbusters next year.

Also glad to hear that the offense will be tailored to the unique personnel with simpler terminology so guys can play at full speed without thinking so much.

HEY NOW! I went to Detroit for the disaster vs the Giants and our bus driver took a "shortcut" showing off your lovely city. Let's just say it made me thankful that I live in MN. ;) :pirate: I like the approach the coaching staff is taking in that they're focusing on players strengths and not schemes. I can understand coaches wanting to do it their way when they get the shot, but I've always hated how rigid Chilly was with his football philosophies.

TJack is gone. MN doesn't want him and he doesn't want to stay here.

What's the word on Jeff Davidson Panthers/Patriots/Browns fans?

I know a little about him and how he's found success in all sorts of situations. I think he looks like a great fit for this team and this gives me renewed confidence that AD will remain atop the rushing leaders.
