Congrats on the win but don't drink it all tonight save some for tomorrow alright? Double fisted brews brohanski, gotta pace yourself.

Who was the last dominant primarily Cover 2 Defense?
The bears all the way back to this year?
This. The 'Cover 2 doesn't work' argument is lazy and tired. Any scheme works if played well with the right personnel.
I said dominant. The Bears failed to make the playoffs this season. I wouldn't call that dominant.
Bears didn't make the playoffs because their Oline sucks. Their defense was awesome.
Bears were 15th in the league in scoring. They were 3rd in points against. They were 6th in point differential. I'd say it had more involved than just the O-line. Again, I'm not saying their defense was average or bad, just not dominant.
According to FBOthey were the most efficient Team d in 2012. According to

Advanced NFL Stats they were the most efficient team d in 2012.

Aside from the 2000 Raven defense, what d of this era has

produced more scoring plays throughout a season? Off the top of my head, I can't remember one.
Yet, they weren't good enough to stop Colin Kapernick from putting up 32 in a loss or Christian Ponder putting up 21 in a loss. They watched the playoffs this week because they were good but not dominant.

Congrats Pack fans. Good season Vikes, too bad Ponder didn't get a chance to step up in a playoff atmosphere. It really would've been nice to see if he could handle it. Well, let's hope for a great off-season and that Peterson comes back next year even stronger(man I feel lucky to be able to cheer for him).

Congrats on the win Packer fans. I wish we could have put forth a better effort this week but it is what is.Terrific job containing Peterson and good luck to you in games ahead.Vikings have a lot of work to do and make sure they beat the Packers at home next season.
 Nice season for you all...and Peterson is just a freaking beast. A Viking I just can't hate at all.

And for those who questioned McCarthy deferring and calling him dumb.

The Packers have started slow recently...as I stated early on...those 3 and outs can kill you when you take the ball first.

He loves to do what they did tonight.

Score late in the half...get the ball back and score again and totally turn the game around like that.

There is a reason he is a head coach and we are drinking and posting on message boards and decisions like that is just part of it.

Congrats Packer fans! Please beat the arrogant Harbaugh and the 9ers next week.

Congrats to the Viking fans! Great end to the year and be thankful you have AP as I'm sure you are.

Hopefully playing against Webb will help a bit in dealing with Kap's running ability. Problem is...he can throw too.

Will be a tough test for this D but they played quite well tonight.

Nice getting everyone back healthy on that side of the ball (outside of the 2 MLBs they lost early in the year).

all due respect, dude, but I think you are grasping at straws here. Are we now giving Ponder credit for Harrison Smith's game-winning pick 6 (Ponder passed for 91 yards, 0 TD and an INT that day, btw)? Because that's how the Vikes got to 21 that game. The 9er game was an aberration when you look at their entire 16-game body of work. If you think the Bears missed the playoffs because of their d, I don't know what to say. Here is another article talking about how absolutely dominant the Bear d had been at the midway point of the season. Granted, that was at the halfway point, but I already posted 2 separate efficiency ratings that had the Bears ranked at #1. By just about any objective measure (including the good old eye test), they were absolutely dominant.

It was a good effort Vikings. Down the stretch you were very impressive and beat out those hacks we call teddy bears. Congrats on that. Bears suck Rodgets ball sweat and like it. Vikinking play to win inlike those losers from Chicago.

Haven't read the thread. Don't want do because of certain posters/fans (many on the Packer side)

Just want to say that as a Packer fan I was scared before the game tonight. Peterson is the best running back I've ever seen, and I started watching football at the end of the Walter Payton era. The GB>Min rivalry hasn't been much in the past few years but it was revived in the past 2 weeks. I think the NFL is better if the NFC North is competetive.

I would rather have seen Ponder but if he's hurt there's not much else to do but play who's in front of you. See you next year Vikes and bring it on 9ers! :banned:

Who was the last dominant primarily Cover 2 Defense?
Who was the last rushing champ that won anything of note post season?
Terrell Davis?
Nice call, all the way back in '98. Before that go back to Emmitt in the early '90's. Remarkable how much of a waste the dominant regular season rushing leaders are in relation to meaningful post season wins.
History shows you do not need a dominant running game to win, you only need some semblance of one. You do need a good to great QB though.

Hey arctic edge congrats on the loss!
Green Bay knows they got lucky. If Ponder played, its a close game. Pretty sure we won last week with Ponder.
Didn't realize the game last week was played at Lambeau.
Did you notice we didnt have Ponder? Captain Observation..
I noticed the D played far better against Peterson this week which was more of the difference...but if you want to keep up this fishing...go right ahead.

:lmao: Yeah, they played better D against a team who was forced to start a QB who had 3 sn aps all year. The real playoff game was last week, and the Vikes won son.

Funny how the NFL iss allowing GB to play next week after they lost the "real" playoff game.

I mean I realize for the Vikings regular season games count more given their futility in the postseason.

I look forward to watching the Vikings continue to play in the "real playoffs" next week. Which channel is the game on?
