Minnesota Vikings (1 Viewer)

Since I'm a little biased living in MN, I wanted to hear some outside opinions on what people think of the Vikings IF they were to acquire a vet FA QB this off season? The most obvious other "problem" would be their pass defense or lack of it. No one runs against us, and by default comes down to the passing game. I think if we got a decent FA QB this offseason, it would take some pressure off the defense. Work some of the clock more and move the chains. I'd like to think we'd then be able to outscore our opponents. I've seen opinions where people think our WR's are horrible. I don't think they are Moss, Donte, Welker by any means, but I think they have "potential". As much as I hate that word, I like Rice on the right side, Troy W on the left side, and Wade as the slot WR. Shiancoe down the seem should cause some mismatches, and obviously AP getting the focus of the attention from the defense. If I had to pinpoint one thing that would help us most, it would obviously be QB. I don't want to draft some guy and throw him in there or even develop a QB. I want a FA QB like Drew Brees to fall in our lap.... like it did for N.O. Some have mentioned McNabb reuniting with Childress, but I just don't see it at all. Who are the potential FA QB's that will be available this offseason, and which one do YOU think would be the best fit for MN? Just kicking off a little discussion...

Personally, I don't see how they went into last offseason satisfied knowing that Tarvaris Jackson was their starter. Decisions like that, or nondecisions if you will, make me think that if they're not bungling the QB situation, they'll find another place to get it wrong.

Free agent QB Jeff George says he's interested in playing for the Vikings.

George, 39, was last with the Raiders. "I know they're banged up," he said of the Vikes. Coach Brad Childress indicated Monday that he's not interested in adding another quarterback to the roster at this time.

I think that if they signed Jeff Garcia, they would be 5-2 right now, and would be a serious contender in the NFC.

I feel all the comments are correct, coaching and qb being the biggest issues. The only problem is there are not really any FA qb's available next year. I thought I saw a list that had D Anderson (restricted) as the best option. The sad part is Rex Grossman is on the list and he would be a definant upgrade at the position for the Vikings.

As an outsider, I see more than a few problems.

1.) bad pass defense from a coverage perspective

2.) they don't generate alot of pressure on the qb

3.) CFL qb

4.) not a single wr who scares anyone, or that can catch the ball for that matter

5.) coach who does not recognize the limitations or the strengths of his team and does not construct a proper game plan

That's just a few things I think of.

I think there biggest problem is a tie between their coach and terrible QB's. How they went into this season with just Tavares, Holcomb, and Bollinger baffles me. Especially with all the guys who were floating around at some point or another in the offseason and first few weeks of the regular season. If they went out and got Garcia, Green, Leftwhich...hell even Mcnown or SOMEONE they could be a legit contender in the NFC. They had a project QB in Tavares who showed little to nothing in the games he played in last season and made no effort to back him up with a veteran or semi-capable QB at all. Mind Boggling
