Which Minnesota WR (out of Williamson and Travis Taylor) is the possesion receiver and which is the long ball threat?

I rate Travis Taylor about as high as I rate Todd Stinkston, which is not very high. Williamson will definately be the deep threat and he has hooked up for some nice deep catches already this offseason. One guy I think some people are sleeping on is Marcus Robinson. He is a guy that is especially good in the redzone, and has been a starter for the Vikings in the past.

Alot of people seem down on Taylor for obvious reasons. He's been in this league for some time now. Coming out of college he was pretty highly thought of. He was the 10th pick in the FIRST round in 2000. Which would be considered a bust. His best season in Baltimore he put up 869yds and 6 tds. Now that was Baltimore where he didnt really have too much around him as far as offense except for Jamal. Last year, his first in Minny, he put up 604 with 4 tds. And I think he was WR3 (all though I could be wrong.) With him in the starting role He should at least up those numbers to his best year in Baltimore. Minny has a superior offense and QB (all be it an old qb). I think a lot of people sell Taylor short. He'll probably never be a stud worthy of his high draft pick, but I dont see any reason he cant be an above average starter. He was born in 1978. Which means he's probably hitting his prime now. I guess its make or break for him. But I think he's worth the chance. Marcus Robinson is 3 years older I believe. So its a 28 year old in Taylor vs a 31 year old in Robinson. I like Taylor in this situation. Even with the Pinkston signing as Pinkston is another deep threat. Taylor will probably get a lot of looks.

I had expected Taylor to perform well last year, but having watched him this pre-season it looks like he is up to his old tricks of dropping balls.

I think it also depends on your league rules -- thats why I posted the original question. My league is a PPR league where we get 1 point per reception and players are not rewarded with bonuses for long TDs. If TT is the possession guy then for me he has more value that WIlliamson (remember -- this is as a 5th WR in the late rounds). I also think that Brad Johnson's game will be more condusive to shorter passes than the long bomb which will better suit TT than Wiliamson.

I dont expect Taylor to put up WR1 type numbers, but I really woundt be surprised if he wound up with ~75 receptions for ~900 yards and 5-6TDs. Not bad numbers at all for a 15th round pick.

As for Marcus Robinson -- I am NOT sleeping on him. He is a big threat. But he is also very inconsistent. He may catch 3 TDs in one game and then have a 3 game dry spell. Not the kind of ugy I want on my FF team. TT will be less explosive, more consistent and more valuable IMO.

Williamson is the guy to draft. He has the upside and as your 5th WR you might as well swing for the fences.
