Missouri football player Michael Sam is gay (1 Viewer)

Hilts sent me a pm apologizing for his comment. That was a classy move and I accepted it.
It was a bit more than that. My comment wasn't meant as it came across. It's clear we're not going to agree on the rest of the PM though.
Let's not revise history there, Stalin.
I stand by my statement, gb. Next time let's avoid the easy ones and mix in some classics like Nero, Hirohito, or maybe an Idi.

Kiss my ###, Moussolini.Man, if I had a nickel for every time I've said that.

Tim is crushed
Yes, Tim is very concerned about who his entertainers are #######.
He cares if it is consensual. He doesn't care if his athletic idols are rapists
Statutory rape gets a pass, too, don't forget. As long as she's in a training bra, she's fair game, according to Tim.
You're a very smart guy and I've come to appreciate a lot of your posts, especially in the political threads. So I know that YOU KNOW you're misrepresenting me here. Can I assume that, like Cliff, you're just doing it to be a ####? Or is there some other reason.

I'm not being a ####; just stating the facts. You cheer for rapists.

Roman Polanski?
His "crime" was to have sex with a promiscuous 13 year old with the body of a 20 year old. I don't approve of such behavior, but it's hardly worth lifelong comdemnafion.
Geez, sorry I missed all the nuance in your stance.
There's no nuance needed. Nowhere there did I defend statutory rape. Polanski should have gone to jail. But do I consider this sort of crime to be the equivalent of child molestation or rape? No I do not. Do I think he should still be condemned for it, 40 years later, in such a way that he has to be a lifetime fugitive from justice? No I do not. If that makes me sick in your eyes, oh well.

But so long as the 13 year old is physically mature, it's not on the same planet as having sex with a 7 year old.
And while I could have written that better, I stand it by it too. Both are crimes. Both are worthy of condemnation and jail. But the latter is far far worse than the former. Jerry Lee Lewis married his 12 year old cousin. He was lambasted (rightfully so) but managed to come back from it and have a long career afterwards. Had Jerry Lee married his 7 year old cousin, he never would have come back from it- he would have spent his remaining life in prison (rightfully so.)

Just in case anyone reading this doesn't know, you're referring to Kobe Bryant and Ben Roethlisberger, both of whom I root for. I don't believe either one is a rapist, and you know that too. So I'll let others decide what your motivation is for bringing this up in the Michael Sam thread.

If you drug and have sex with someone you know is 13 (or really if you purposely drug and have sex with anyone for that matter), you should go to jail for the rest of your life. It doesn't matter what cup size she is or whether you think she "asked for it" with promiscuous behavior.

Just absolutely brutal.

To those who saw him play, did Sam Get a chance in the NFL solely because he was gay? Or would he still have been drafted had he not come out?

He played football like a gay man, in other words, weak and horribly. He was only drafted because he likes huge ##### in his ###.

its crazy to me how obsessed with tim you guys are.
No it isn't. He's all over this forum and posts more than anyone. When he writes stupid crap he gets called out on it. It happens a lot. When anyone writes stupid crap here they get called out. With Tim it happens more often.

lol - he has the most posts in this thread. good or bad, he's not the type to worry about people responding to or at him about any subject manner. He does a good job handling himself - he dishes a lot out but takes it as well as anyone here.

I remember things being confusing and frustrating at his age. Of course I also remember things being awesome at that age as well. I am grateful that my young adulthood was not played out on a stage as public as the one Michael Sam chose.

I never detected malice in the man so I wish him well.

What is this garbage? Gonna need you to overreact on one side or the other.

Sam chose to take the responsibility of being the first openly gay nfl player on his back.

He has not only failed himself but he has failed the gay community as his erratic conduct will be felt for some time unfortunately.

There was always a lot of talk that Jackie Robinson wasn't the best black ball player but the one best EQUIPPED to handle breaking that barrier.

Sam clearly was not that.

Failing as a player isn't a sin

All the other stuff that went with it was batty.

Tim has a new favorite athlete...

"Rugby League player comes out as Britain's first gay professional"

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/rugbyleague/11807089/Rugby-League-player-comes-out-as-Britains-first-gay-professional.html

This one really touches on what Tim was saying earlier about an athlete coming out in a "macho sport" because pro rugby may be even more macho than pro football. There are no diva wide receivers or star QBs that can't be hit. And despite that macho culture this rugby player still proudly proclaims that he takes it in the scrum.*

* Scrum: Area between scrotum and bum. English version of taint.

Things were going really well for the gay community: sodomy laws struck down, marriage rights in all 50 states, rapidly accelerating social acceptance, etc. But Michael Sam went and spoiled it all.

I must not be reading this right. A 43-year-old man puts moves on a 13-year-old girl, touches her inappropriately, undresses her, photographs her without clothes on, then has intercourse with her, and you don't think that's the equivalent of child molestation? Because she's promiscuous?
Perhaps Tim feels that being a fugitive from justice all these years has taken such a toll that he has paid his debt to society.

Me, I think if he wanted this behind him he could have stood up and been held accountable instead of fleeing to Europe.

I do love Tim's choice of verbs. Polanski was without choice in this matter. He, Polanski, did not choose to be a fugitive from justice, rather he had to be. Really he is the victim, at least in Tim's eyes.

Don't forget drugged and sodomized. But she was a slut so it's bad but not that bad.

I also wonder what evidence there is that the 13 year old was promiscuous prior to her abuse by Polanski. I mean Tim describes her as such to minimize the fact that she was young, coerced, and then drugged before being sodomized in spite of her apparent clear protestations.

Please bump this the next time an openly gay guy gets drafted in the nfl.
