MJD, 2012 and beyond (1 Viewer)

Thoughts on keeper prospects for Maurice Jones-Drew. He's shown no signs of slowing down, but he's not getting any younger, and his team is showing no signs of quick improvement on offense.

Struggling with keeping him or trying to trade while his value is at a high point.

I tried to move him in my league earlier in the year, but there was no interest. Even after his year so far, not much going on. His talent is top notch, but I am worried about how long he can last. I am hoping for a strong finish with his schedule and try to move him in the offseason while he's hot.

Interesting, and very consistent with what I've seen as an MJD owner.MJD will turn 27 in early 2012. Meanwhile, Michael Turner will turn 30. If we rolled back the clock 3 years, Turner had a lot less wear & tear on his body....flip side, there is no doubt he's been extremely productive the past 3 years. So what can we expect production-wise from MJD? Does he have 1 good year left? Or 2-3 years?Guess we'll find out.

FWIW I made this deal about three weeks ago in a non-ppr dynasty (12 teams, start 2RB, 3WR, 1 Flex):

Gave:

Hakeem Nicks

Got:

MJD

Bilal Powell

2nd rounder (looks in the 2.02-2.04 range)

I'm a huge Nicks fan, but my team was looking like a fringe playoff team and I needed some help at RB, so I pulled the trigger. Felt like I was buying pretty low on MJD.

I'm going to hold on to him for next year. The guy is consistent. He may not be the gem he was in PPR because of Gabbert but he still is a lock for 1000 and 8 rushing TDs. That's keeper worthy to me.

I am going to hold on to him. Extremely talented back but his production takes a hit due to the general suckitude of the Jags O. I think things will rebound a bit next year and he will get more redzone opportunities.

Gabbert is definitely a work in progress although I think he will improve with some seasoning. He probably shouldn't have been thrust into starting role this quickly, but Garrard's back injury kinda made that a moot point.

All depends on what you be able to get in return.

I think they'll move in a new direction with coaching and/or front office. MJD might be adored by a new staff and in a great position next year.

I would trade him due to age and wear, but chances are the return is not good enough and I'd just keep him

I think the key will be what Jax does in the offseason with DelRio.

They are in bed with Gabbert, and the results are a consistent 15 PPG for MJD.

However, a new offensive minded coach could bring more value and more production.

I think you stand more to gain with the pending coaching hire vs trading him off early before the

hire. I'd love to see Fischer land there....

I moved him and a 2012 2nd for 2013 first/Moreno/Leshoure

Hoping Leshoure can recover from his injury.

I felt like it was time to move him, soon he won't hold a lot of value.

Not a big fan of this trade for you. Frankly, sometimes the value you gain from the 1-3 years you hold onto a guy before he retires is better than the marginal return you get back. It really isn't the end of the world to have a stud retire on your team.

Figured I may as well take a shot with a younger RB, as my team will (should) not be in contention next year, so I've acquired some 2013 1st rounders.I could keep MJD and he may help my team stay afloat, but I rather be worse and have a better pick. That was my thinking behind the move.I shopped him a bit, and that was the best offer. MJD is being worked hard in Jax right now, I am know he's a tough guy... but at some point all those carries are going to catch up to him you have to think? Already had one surgery.

I think Nicks could be conservatively a top 3-5 WR for the next 5-8 years. I'll take the Nicks of that deal. Not sure if you bought low on MJD, as he's been a steady producer this season. I would look to move him during the off season. When his fall comes, it may be quick and steep. Not a bad trade at all, but I'll take the Hakeem Nicks side every day of the week.
