MJD discussion (1 Viewer)

Where do you guys think MJD ranks amongst the second tier of upper echelon Running backs? In particular, Trent Richardson, Jamaal Charles, Steven Jackson? People are very hesitant to draft MJD now-a-days due to the hold out but if he plays week 1, can you really tell me you'd rather have any of those backs over the leagues leading rusher last season? With Chris Johnson fresh in our mind, the thought of a RB holding out again (with a new coach coming in as well) seems particularly frightening. But, why should any of the RB's I've listed be taken before MJD? They all have their question marks

Richardson is an extremely talented back with a bright future. But just how much will he play since in the beginning of the year when he's yet to take a snap in the NFL due to his recent injury? However, if he can get 300 carries this season, one could make a case he should be taken above all the others

Charles-An explosive back with a ridiculous YPC avg for his career. However, due to his time share and lack of goal-line carries, it's hard to imagine him getting top 5 RB numbers. To me, he may have the lowest ceiling but highest floor of all the running backs mentioned. Yes, he is coming off a major injury but he's had an ample time to recover and he is still quite young. Safest selection out of the 4 in my opinion.

Steven Jackson-Great talent that's approaching that dreaded age of 30. However, should have a few more productive seasons out of him. It seems as though his offensive coordinator plans to feed him this year and as long as he stays healthy, he should put up solid numbers. Only one problem, Jackson has only scored 10 td's once in his career and that was almost 6 years ago. Amazing considering how physical of a runner he is. You'd imagine he'd rack up double digit TD's no problem. I really like him this year though and I think you could make a case for him being selected over all the runners I previously mentioned.

Final verdict: Despite how scary the thought of a hold out seems, I think MJD deserves to be selected over the guys I have mentioned above. He has been nothing but productive his whole career and despite not playing in any pre-season games last year, still managed to add the rushing title to his mantle.

My order

MJD-model of consistency

Sjax-Going to be fed this year. Top 10 RB for sure

Charles-Coming off an injury, lack of touches, lack of TD's. Will get his yards just don't love his upside given his situation

TRich-Could beat them all out. Hard to rank them over proven commodities however

How would you rank the following running backs and why?
