MJD Likely Out an "Extended Period" (1 Viewer)

Maurice Jones-Drew (foot) has been ruled out for Week 11.

It's the third straight Monday Jones-Drew has been ruled out, suggesting he still isn't close to a return. MJD estimated Thursday he's "about two weeks away" from returning, but that would require some major progress between now and next Thursday. Rashad Jennings has fared poorly in Jones-Drew's absence, rushing 40 times for just 131 yards (3.3 YPC). The Jags badly need their bell-cow back if they're to have any shot at playing respectable football down the stretch. Nov 12 - 1:03 PM

For those running with Rashad Jennings in MJDs absence.

Does the possible return of fullback Greg Jones boost the chances of jennings putting up serviceable numbers?

Jaguars head coach Mike Mularkey told the media on Monday that Jones-Drew was the only player he was ready to rule out this week. That could mean we see the return of fullback Greg Jones and safety Dwight Lowery this week.

Absolutely, Greg Jones is one of the best FBs in the NFL. This week against the Texans it likely will not make much difference, but Tenn and Buff the next two weeks looks promising.

Jennings blows and I will again likely have to start him with Bradshaw on a bye (which really just means Im getting 3 points out of Jennings rather than AB)

:goodposting: My once promising stable of Mathews, Bush, Jon Stewart and Rashad Jennings is weak sauce.
Not sure I ever had promise...DMac, Bradshaw, Turner, Stewart/Dwill, SprolesLooking more like I may have to pick up Starks or re-add Alex Green this week. Or I think I may just finally start Richardson who keeps getting at least a few points each week.

Perfect example of why drafting a running back in teh 1rst is bad news
I took Calvin in the first.More of a perfect example of FF being a crapshoot and that I should have just altered a few things in my draft strategy when I took Calvin.Taking Lynch instead of Dmac would have made a huge difference. As would going for Peterson rather than Bradshaw.

Latest on MJD from RW.

Maurice Jones-Drew (foot) told Fox Sports Radio that he hopes to return "in a couple of weeks."

Keep in mind Jones-Drew essentially said the same thing on November 8. "It’s definitely not going to be (out for) the year, but with a foot injury you don’t want to mess around with it and come back at 70 or 80 percent," Jones-Drew said. "It’s just one of those things that’s going to take a little bit of time but it’s doing much better. Hopefully I will be back in a couple of weeks." So Jones-Drew now appears to be targeting a Week 13 return. Thoroughly ineffective Rashad Jennings will continue to start in the meantime.

From RW:

Maurice Jones-Drew (foot) has shed his crutches and walking boot.

Jones-Drew isn't practicing this week, but says he's "doing everything I can on my side to get back and get ready to go." He's targeting a Week 13 return, and shedding his crutches and boot is certainly a big step. He won't be close to getting back on the field until he can resume running and cutting, however. MJD should be considered very questionable for Week 13 until further notice

News: Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew said Friday that he could miss "a few weeks" as he continues to be limited by a persistent foot injury, the Florida Times-Union reports. PER CBS SPORTS

Any locals got anything else on the potential return of MJD?

2011 1606 rushing/374 receiving/11 TD's 11 games over 100 yards

2012 414/83/2/with 1 game >100

I took a chance on him in the 4th round and thought I got the steal of the draft :wall:

That's just not how it works though. If MJD can play, he'll play.
Not if he doesn't have a contract to support him if the inevitable happends. Look at Forte last season. Team was going nowhere and he was sitting out with a injury and fighting ownership for a new contract. Same situation.

Same situation? - The Bears were fighting for a play off spot last year. - Forte was a free agent after the season, MJD is still under contract for another year.- Forte's injury was not as severe as MJD's.- Forte was making close to league minimum, MJD is making close to 5m per. - The Bears did not pay Forte until he played out his rookie contract. The Jaguars signed MJD to a new deal when he still had time left on his rookie contract which at the time made him one of the top paid RBs in the league.

Same situation? - The Bears were fighting for a play off spot last year.-With Caleb Hanie as QB?

- Forte was a free agent after the season, MJD is still under contract for another year.-Good point will give you that.

- Forte's injury was not as severe as MJD's.- Are you so sure?It was a knee, and any injury is severe IMO when its the knee or foot when it has to do with a RB.

- Forte was making close to league minimum, MJD is making close to 5m per.- Sure 5m is a ton more that the minimum but look at it as a whole. Both are 85% of their respective team offense, minimum or 5m isn't enough for them to continue if they are not reasonably compensated for the position they play.

- The Bears did not pay Forte until he played out his rookie contract. The Jaguars signed MJD to a new deal when he still had time left on his rookie contract which at the time made him one of the top paid RBs in the league.-Titans paid Johnson who is also a very high % of their offense and he had another year to go for his contract.

MJD ‘probably’ out for Buffalo

Mularkey said running back Maurice Jones-Drew (foot) will “probably” be out another week but ruled out placing him on injured reserve.

“We want to finish strong and we need everybody we can to finish strong,” Mularkey said. “We think he has a chance to come back for a few games.”

:wall: what happened? did he not want to get put on that new IR that would have allowed him to come back or did the jaguars never consider it? i mean, this is week 6, so if he did that he'd still be eligible to come back when he MIGHT come back.

for those of us in leagues with different rules (i have a static number of roster spots and all but two of my active roster players are in the lineup every week), his lingering injury has really hampered us.

From golf cart and walking boot to playing in two weeks? Wrong initials. This is MJD, not AP.
??? MJD is a high character guy. Moreover, he's one of the toughest guys in the game. Prior to this season he had missed just 3 games in 6 seasons
Not really. Ask the guy from the Denny's.
MJD had nothing to do with the incident at Denny. He was there eating, another group of people had a conflict with a gentleman there and MJD left to avoid any drama. He was never at any point evolved in the incident.

From RW:

Maurice Jones-Drew (foot) is not practicing Thursday.

Jones-Drew isn't going to return for Sunday's game against the Bills. And with the Jags at 2-9 and MJD feeling underpaid, there's no guarantee he'll be back for Week 14, either. Rashad Jennings has retaken the starting gig with Jalem Parmele (groin) on injured reserve.

For what it is worth I heard from a fairly reliable local source that MJD is 100% committed to playing again this year and could play as soon as week 15. If he ends up on IR, it will be against his wishes.

But do you trust him enough to play him in your FF playoffs when everything is on the line?m

Depends on how he practices and what your other options are on roster. In one league this week I have to start either start Ryan Mathews vs Pitt or B. Powell vs the Jags. I would love the option of trusting MJD this week in that league.

I held on to him as long as I could and dropped him this week.

Even IF he comes back he's got MIA and NE. Not real easy IMO.

Also dropping McCoy next week after his extended concussion issues.

Left with Rice and Ridley for the playoffs = tough matchups.

FWIW, on SiriusXM Fantasy Football's "Runnin' With MJD" guy had a mini-meltdown when he was pressed on the NFL's protection/lack thereof for the players and the risks they take. Also said people were posting on his Twitter pictures of his face next to all the 0's next to his name for fantasy scoring week to week this season, thanking him sarcastically.

I know he doesn't play hard in the NFL for his fake team owners, but the guy HAS to be itching to get back out there, and I think if he can he will just from a competitor/"eff the world don't doubt me" perspective.

Jennings is still going through concussion tests. Montel Owens will be the starting RB for the Jag's this week!

you have rice, mccoy and mjd in a non-keeper?

Now that you've avenged your honor that was tainted 6 weeks ago you can unbookmark this thread and move on with your life JoJo. By the way, you starting MJD this week?

:excited: I said in my first post I overpaid, but it made sense since I had the RB depth to take the chance while getting an upgrade at WR. The other team didn't make the playoffs either. :banned:

Jaguars placed an OLineman (Brewster) on IR today...still no official word on MJD status.

Anyuone listen to MJD's sirius radio show last week?

Maurice Jones-Drew (foot) will resume full-speed running Wednesday.Jones-Drew hasn't practiced since going down in Week 7. So the Jags aren't exactly optimistic he'll be able to help them against the Patriots on Sunday. "I'd be very surprised if he can run like we want him to run," coach Mike Mularkey said while continuing to call MJD questionable. We'll know more Thursday, but logic suggests Montell Owens will be the feature back once again this week. Source: Mark Long on Twitter
Sucks, was really hoping to have him for the championship but doesn't look like he'll be anywhere near in shape to play in a game.

now this POS is 'pretty questionable' for week 17? freaking idiot. at least him not playing is going to help me get a top 3 pick for next year.

now, please go on IR for the final week so i can actually pick up someone useful.

So his significant foot injury makes him a POS?You stay classy San Diego.

no, his ego does. his ego refused to allow himself to be placed on that new IR for six weeks at any point. and he will probably refuse to go in for the final week as well. when you are in a league with no benches (we start 15 of 17 rostered players) injuries suck balls. vick, jones-drew, kurt coleman, gronkowski. all hurt and missed significant time while hurt. and then throw in my mistake of holding on to denarius moore.

Held him all year until 10 mins before kickoffs and then dropped this turd for Ryan Grant. Won me 3rd place and some $$$
