MLB Extra Innings (1 Viewer)

Fight The Power
I'm thinking of getting it this year. I moved out of my favorite teams area last year and missed not being able to watch them play. The price with Comcast is $159 for the year. I do have XM and get all the games on radio but it would be cool to watch the games as well.

Has anyone had it? How was it?

I've had it the last few years. The only extremely annoying thing about it is MLB's idiotic blackout rules.

I'm sticking with MLB.TV again, just having a hard time deciding between regular or premium. Is the upgrade worth it?

I had premium last year and it's a bit of a must if you have a fantasy team and/or travel a lot. You get the mosaic and can watch like 6 games at the same time. It give you alerts when any of your rostered guys is on deck, at the plate or pitching. As far as the picture quality goes I noticed no difference, even though there's supposed to be. Extra innings is a must and is on sale right now. If I didn't do so much traveling I would just stick with this.Blackouts are ####### ridiculous on both.

Thanks, I'd get extra innings too but like you am on the road too damn much. it's why I go with the online version. I'll weigh the options sometime this week, I am less concerned about fantasy alerts, but watching 6 games at once got my attention.

So whats the deal with the blackouts? I am in Cali and want to watch my Twins will I get most of the games?

I think you would get most if not all of the games that were on.I dont know the exact blackout details but when I had the package I only got blacked out of Yanks and Mets games for the most part

IIRC you can't watch a whole lot of ball on Saturdays because the Cubbies may be playing the Red Birds or something. Fox has some sort of monopoly on weekend games.

What games you're blacked out of depends on your location. The Twins fan in Cali, the only games you need to be concerned about being blacked out are those against the Angels and A's. Depending on where you live you may only be blacked out from one of them.

Any game on ESPN or FOX Saturday's are blacked out too.

I live near Cleveland, I am blacked out from the Indians and Pirates but STO shows just about every non nationally televised Indians game and who in their right mind would want to watch the Pirates?

This is my 3rd year. I love it. As mentioned previously, blackout rules do apply (e.g., FOX Saturday afternoons or ESPN games on Wednesday nights).

The other thing is that you won't always see the announcers of your fave team every game. Basically, if they're at home, you'll get 'em. On the road, you'll get their feed except if they play Toronto, in which case you'll get your team's feed because there's no agreement with the Canadian network.

Also, if you have a local over-the-air station that does not have satellite uplink, you're hosed on those games. For example, as an Indians fan, any games broadcast by WKYC do not show up on my EI package; I'll get the other team's feed.

Free this week if you have Direct TV. I've never had it, but I'm loving it right now.
Same free preview with Comcast. I'm still on the fence if I should get this or not.

I think this year they added dual feeds.

Every year I get the free preview and I always say I wanna order it. But every year it comes down to the same thing on why I dont get it. Since Im a Yankee fan living in NY I get all my games already. And since I always watch the Yankees Ill barely have time to watch other games except for flipping channels during commercials. Thats why I dont get it.

You'll see all of them that are televised unless they are on the Fox Saturday game, Wednesday night ESPN game, or playing the Angels. In which case, you'll have to rely on local broadcast to watch them. To get a feel of just how ######ed the MLB blackout rule is, see this map

People living 16 hours east of Seattle are blacked out of their games

People living in El Paso, TX can't watch Astros games, but people living just 10 miles up the street in New Mexico can.

That's not all you don't get. It was a joke yankeefan. Relax.

My God, I'd hate to be a baseball fan in Iowa. No MLB team and you're blacked out from 20% of the major league teams. Talk about punishment.
