MNF: Bears vs Colts (1 Viewer)

Indy's Oline is playing very well.
Really? I personally didn't think the starting line looked too great against the pass. I don't recall a single blitz by the bears against the first string yet the front 4 even without Tommie Harris managed a sack and another hit on manning, something the colts line didn't allow to happen much at all last year.
I honestly thought the run blocking was shoddy, although they seemed to be isolating the new guy (Ugoh) - probably to see what he can do.

I think that is going to be more of a problem area than many realize.

I must have turned the game on after the sack. I only saw a Chi player get close to Manning once in 2 drives, and he really wasn't all that close.

Any Bears homers care to comment on how much Hester has been used as a WR in the preseason? I grabbed him as a WR4 in a return yardage league. If he can add 30-40 catches to his return yardage he should put up WR2 numbers.Just not sure if he'll see enough looks on O.But based on one series, he looked pretty comfortable at WR.
He's worth taking a flier on if you have the roster space, though I really think they will use him sparingly. The Bears have a nice stable of WRs: Berrian, Muhammad, Bradley, Rashied Davis, as well as Benson out of the backfield and two good receiving TEs in Clark and Olsen.

just popped back in to comment on how fantastic of a catch Gonzalez just had ...

it was fantastic!

Ogunleye got the sack on the first drive on the RT. The other play I recall Manning getting hit Ugoh got beat on the outside but it wasn't too bad, Manning still completed the pass. Its just the fact Manning actually got hit that would concern me. Hes gotta be the least hit QB over the past 5 or so years.

Lol...poor Dorsey. Gets a second carry and again the play gets totally blown up in the backfield. Sorgi just about got dropped before he even got the handoff away.

I don't know the name of the female sideline reporter...but I wanted to reach through the tv and strangle her during her interview of Grossman. Every question had a negative spin on it and Grossman was a stand up guy during the whole interview.

I don't even like Grossman particularly but gained alot of respect for him after the hammering he took.

Benson stinks. Plain and simple.

Wow is he gonna break a ton of fantasy hearts again this year.

I also agree about Addai. Average NFL talent in a superb situation.

still interested in the backup RB battles for both sides. Is Clifton Dawson been sighted yet? Maybe he will get some carries in the 4th quarter.

What about Garrett Wolfe....how is he looking?

I'm not sure why the media always paints him in a negative light, see it a lot on this site as well... :blackdot:

Maybe two fumbles and a pick in 6 snaps?

He looks small. But he's playing well. Quick, even pushed the pile a little on the 14 yarder. These guys have to stop... "can't think of a team with a better QB situation than the Bears with Grossman, Griese, and Orton."

He will be a randle-el, a la pitt.Expect 2 catches, 1 screen, 1 trick play.

I'm watching the game on tivo... I know going into the game that Rex is a bad qb but then I watch him and he always seems to be worse than I remember. He is the opposite of Manning. Manning is about rhythm and perfection and Grossman is single handedly a drive killer.

I love it that he keeps getting chances. Cracks me up. He must be a "neat" guy.

My 11yr old just turned off the playstation after about an hour of use, and what does she say "Ohh god something about Michael Vick again"

This game only backed up what I aleady knew. Grossman sucks balls and Benson is mediocre.

I CAN'T TAKE GROSSMAN ANYMORE. CUT THIS LOSER ALREADY, LOVIE. WTF? I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111  :wall: :wall:

Your sarcasm is a bit extreme. If I was a Bear's fan I'd definitely still be worried about Rexy! I still think he is what messes up the mix with that team.

From what I saw:

Colts O: OK, not great

Colts D: Very encouraging. Much better tackling than last year.

Colts Special Teams: Horrid, horrid, horrid. Must...get...fixed

:lmao: The Bears will benefit yet again from a cake schedule. But I wouldn't expect any kind of consistency at all from their offense.

All, here is what I saw from my sideline viewpoint...

The Colts Offense looks stout. I still think we won't see nearly the deep outs from the Colts this year as Ugoh just isn't Tarik Glenn. Manning was hurried several times last night.

Cedric Benson looks incredibly slow to the hole. He had a nice catch and run out of the backfield, but when you are getting stuffed by the Colts run D, you're in for a rough season.

Greg Olsen had several chances but didn't get the looks from Grossman or Griese. In the second Q he ran a deep out and was wide open, only to see Griese throw it 10 yards over his head like a corner route.

Adrian Peterson is the best back on the Bears IMO. He was fast to the hole, excellent on passing plays, and made a few nice blocks. It's not even close between him and Benson. The problem I see is that the Bears obviously want to run a power running game. If they changed their mindset to use Peterson more like Westbrook, then lookout! I'd have Benson as the COP back.

Griese looked much better than Grossman. The Bears have some nice WRs. Mush looks way slow to me. Again, I think he fits what the Bears want to do, short passing game, pound the football, and take a deepb

e look occasionally. I really think with a better QB in there, this team could dominate every week.

The Colts D looked solid. I've been saying all pre-season that the Colts are going to be better on D this year than last. Yes, the loss of McFarland hurts, but their DBs and LBs have improved. Their backfield now has hitters who support the run very well. Keiaho will easily replace June at WLB.

This is what I saw from my seats. Take it for what it's worth coming from a Colts fan...

I agree. I do not want to look at this guy ruin this team's chances. Fumbling snaps? These are high school excuses and it is painful to watch a deer in the head lights driving the caddy....

I think Mike Hass pretty much sealed up a roster spot. I like the way the kid plays and if he's around, I will pick him up out of the free agent pool in my dynasty league.

Orton looked sharp when his swiss cheese line could block for him. Honestly, I wish they would have continued developing him when Rex returned. Griese looked great too, especially on that Berrian slant.

The good news for us Bears fans is that if this is indicative of Rex's contract year performance, the Bears may not offer him one

Yeah he looked good. I like the way BB looked as well and if Griese had a shot he could be a top WR in the NFL. Hester looked decent as well. The Colts looked solid on offense and played well on defense but the Bear's ST play continues to mock other teams. That is a money unit.....

I would agree about the ST play! I really think in most cases, you'll see teams kicking the ball out of bounds and making Rexy beat them. Had this been a regular season game, I'm sure the Colts would have done that. But, since it was preseason, they wanted to work on or expose their weaknesses.

I think Adrian Peterson will be a nice late-round pick based on what I saw from Benson.

The Bears have one of the easiest schedules and I don't think even Rex can get in the way of that. However, you gotta wonder how long will Lovie stick with him. Is it out of loyalty or stubbornness? Sure, Rex's record as a starter is good but how many of those games did he actually "won"? Hell, wasn't Orton 6-1 or something as a starter too?

I was hoping to see more of Olson too.

They sure caught us off gaurd on that on side kick. Kicking the ball out of bounds is going to give us field position all year long. This is why Benson is so critical to the 2007 season. They have to pound the ball and keep Rex in manage mode. I am not very confident in his come from behind ability. How do you guys feel about Addai?

I wanted more Olson as well.I think that the Bears will start to get fits once they play the Vikings and the Packers. Those defensive units are looking beefed up. The schedule might not be as kind as it looks as teams are going to be gunning for them....

Against the Colts anyway, there is no way the field would be any better by kicking it to Hester!I love me some Addai and it has nothing to do with being a homer. He will be the Edge of years gone by....

Not so sure about "keeping Rex in manage mode" ... He can't manage #### if he can't take a friggin snap. And the first fumble could have happened no matter what mode he's in. The D-line got to him quickly and his lack of awareness caused the ball to be stripped rather easily. I love him when he's not making stupid plays and absolutely hate him when he is (which has become far too frequent). :)

I know that you are a great Colt fan- do you think that his ADP is warranted in fantasy? He is in a great spot but will he see 25 carries a game?

Yes I am right there with you. I was hoping that manage mode was turning and handing the ball off but when you consider that he cannot get the handle on a snap from Olin it will be tough. No rain as an excuse last night and then he states that he needs to work on snaps. That is pop warner stuff. I just pray that we can see Griese work with the 1st team offense in the preseason. Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think 25 is very doable! I'd consider 22 his floor! But he will also have more receptions this season. Watch as the Colts run more screens with an agile Ugoh leading the way!

25 carries per game is 400 carries. That will never happen.

Whoops, I missed the carries part of that. My projections are a floor of 22 TOUCHES per game, not carries.I could see Addai end up with 330 carries and 1300/10 and 50 Rec/ 400/ 3
