Mock Draft Results over at Rotojunkie (1 Viewer)

if you're really hurting for OF, I'd take a flier on Bruce and/or Rasmus...I can almost guarantee, one of the two will outperform Melky.

I have them on a short list....OF that I am considering at this point: Matthews Jr (stupid early on, might be value now), Garret Anderson, Felix Pie, Chris Duncan, Milton Bradley, Matt Murton, Coco Crisp, Ellsbury, yada, yada. They all have warts at this point.Almost took Pudge as my 2nd C this round, then found out he is hitting ninth this season. Figure he will last a while longer and if not Laird and others will be there.

You are a Texas homer. Laird? Questions if he'll be catching if they want to have Salty there. FWIW, Ellsbury is gone in your draft, taken high on value like Kemp. Your short list is scary. Crisp has value if he or Ellsbury is dealt. Duncan has pop. Bradley's a head case. Pie doesn't look ready, Murton is junk. Anderson has a couple forks in him.If you're going to take a risk, I agree that you should take it with Bruce. The Reds will not be going for it all in 08, and it looks like Bruce will get the opportunity to play. Dunn will be traded, Freel is always hurt if not Griffey. Hamilton is a Ranger (not yet, homie, wait a couple of rounds).I'd also start to take a good look at steal guys around now. If you can get ahead in steals, these guys can net you a big HR guy like a Thome or Dunn by themselves. Willie Taveras, Carlos Gomez, even a Joey Gathright might parlay you a steal in a trade.

I fully believe that Salty starts the year in AAA. You are right about Ellsbury, Hamilton is gone as well. Thanks for the thoughts on the other guys. I really appreciate it.

Good luck Bogart, I'm pulling for you bro.

Funny side story about Jay Bruce. A scout for the Cubs was asked which Cub minor leaguers he would trade to get Bruce. His response? "All of them".

Draft updated through 12.09.

Right now, I have no idea which way I am going at the turn, should have most of the weekend to figure it out.

Need to update the list, but made the turn and took Varitek and DeRosa. Varitek gives me two top 10 catchers in a league where 40 catchers are going to start, and DeRosa is a good risk at 2B. He plays 3 positions and will either hit second or sixth in a pretty good Cubs lineup.

I just joined a league 1 year in and have the first pick in a re-draft that will go into dynasty right after the draft is done. I have the # 1 pick and hopefully Bruce makes the Reds because I'll gladly take him 1st overall... We get 6 keepers going into draft and I have Hardy, Swisher, Pence, Kinsler, Loney and choice between Daric Barton, Joey Votto, or Adam Jones... I'm leaning toward Baton and as you can tell my team is weak but I believe Bruce will be star in RF. Would anyone pick Alex Gordon over Bruce?

Board updated through 16.18. One pick until my turn. Pretty much going to complete my OF with Bruce and thinking of being that guy to take a flier on Bonds. Still looking on my lists.

What's the outlook on Josh Hamilton this year? Is he a full time starter if healthy? Seems to me like he could have a big year and be gotten for cheap. Are injuries the only major question mark with him?

Injuries and crack addiction

Wrong. MVP type numbers playing Gold Glove CF.Or something between the two.

MVP + Gold Glove = spoken like a true Rangers homer :lmao: Seriously, if Hamilton gets 450 at bats, he'll hit 25 bombs in that park. If it weren't for his size 16 feet, he might be more of a SB threat. He won't make the next step until he hits lefties better. He hit .222 with a .588 OPS against lefties last year; 3 XBH is 72 at bats. Maybe you can chalk that up to nearly 4 years away from the game, but if that doesn't improve, he will never see more than 450 at bats.

Just drafted at 19.01. Got Alex Gonzalez and Mike Lamb to fill out my MI/CI spots. Not super excited about either, but almost 400 players in, you are going to find much excitement.

Now just 5 pitchers to draft before the 5 rounds for bench, so looking for fliers at both starter and relief (2 pitchers must be relief).

I'm interested as well. Thanks for all the postings Bogart. Reflecting at this point in the draft, what would you have done differently?
