Perhaps this is somewhat self serving, but I have done my research and believe this to be the most accurate mock draft in existance.
1.01 - NY Jets - Reggie Bush. This guy is the closest thing to Marshall Faulk in his prime as you are going to find. He can catch, block, run, he can do everything you ask out of a running back and he has the return skills of a Desmond Howard or a Mel Gray. This guy has the goods. I believe there may be a trade brewing since the Texans have so many needs, and the most logical team is the JETS. The Jets need star power and Curtis Martin needs someone to Groom. THE JETS GIVE PICKS 4 and 29 TO MOVE UP TO #1.
1.02 - New Orleans Saints - D'Brickshaw Ferguseon. Another once in a century player. The Saints will take offers, but the opportunity to provide protection for their 2 biggest investments in Deuce and Brees and get a definate probowler in D'Brick to team with last years First rounder at the opposite tackle in Jammal Brown. Its a no brain move for the Saints.
1.03 - Matt Leinart - This is about as sure of a thing as there is in this years draft. Leinart gets to reunite with Norm Chow and McNair likely gets to play one more year. The Titans will likely look to move Billy Volek.
1.04 - Houston Texans - Mario Williams - Often compared to Julius Peppers, adding Mario Williams to the Houston Defense helps to fill some MAJOR needs. The Texans wanted D'Brick or Mario, so they are happpy with this pick. He fits in perfect to their 4-3 defense and provides a great pass rush to a team severely lacking a pass rush last season. This is a pretty easy pick for the Texans.
1.05 - Baltimore Ravens - Vince Young. The Ravens know they have to leap over the Raiders to get the Prize they covet. The 49ers arent going to be trading out of #6. BALTIMORE WILL SEND #13 AND #44 TO GREEN BAY.
1.06 - San Francisco 49ers - People forget that the 49ers Acquired Antonio Bryant. He replaces Brandon Lloyd in the offense as a playmaking WR - and he has better route running skills. An offensive playmaker is not the main need here with Bryant, Gore, Alex Smith, Kevan Barlow, Arnaz Battle, and Eric Johnson. They arent going to draft Vernon Davis. Instead the Niners need to shore up their offensive line - which had more holes in it than 2 LBS of swiss Cheese. The 49ers will take Winston Justice who is one of the fast risers in this years NFL draft.
1.07 - Oakland Raiders - Jay Cutler. Aaron Brooks contract is essentially a 1 year deal, which will allow the Raiders to cut ties with him when the season is over. Cutler is a franchise QB - which Al Davis really wants out of this draft. They are dissapointed to not get Vince Young, but Cutler has all the tools you look for in a pocket QB. With these weapons available, Cutler should be ready to take over for Brooks by midseason.
1.08 - Buffalo Bills - Vernon Davis - Marv Levy is back in town. Marv Levy always takes impact players. I am surprised Vernon Davis made it this far, but Buffalo has absolutly no tight ends on their team, so this is a major need as well as the BPA. So many people have them taking Haloti Ngata - but thats not likely to happen. The Bills just invested in Larry Tripplet. Davis fills in the need for a playmaker to take pressure off Lee Evans - and also gives the Bills young QB Trio a great target over the middle.
1.09 - Detroit Lions - Michael Huff - No Way Millen can screw this one up. The Lions want a defensive player - the Lions need a S to play along side Kennoy Kennedy, and Michael Huff is an amazing talent. Getting the best defensive back in the draft at #9 is quite the bargain. This is a scary player to have in the North if your a Packer fan. Huff will be a star.
1.10 - Arizona Cardinals - Haloti Ngata - It would be an exciting day to be a Cards fan. Ngata is the premier DT in this years draft. With an offense as good as they have got, drafting a defensive standout is the way to go. Teaming Ngata to be an anchor the Dline for years which includes Bert Berry, Darnell Dockett and Chike Okafor, This defensive line will be one of the most feared in all of football. This move alone would signal a return to the playoffs for the Cardinals of Arizona.
1.11 - NEW YORK GIANTS - Brodrick Bunkley - The Giants need a defensive tackle in the worst way. The Rams have quite a few needs, and no real players of impact that are worthy of this selection. It makes sense to me for the Rams to trade out of # 11 and down to the later half of the first round. Adding Bunkley to a defense give them the run stopper they have not been able to acquire this offseason. Linebacker is a position of need, but the GMEN should be able to get some good linebackers later in the draft. DT is thin, and a trade up is the only way to fill this hole. THE GIANTS GIVE ST LOUIS #25 and #78 AS WELL AS A LATE ROUND PICK TO MAKE IT AN EVEN TRADE
1.12 - Cleveland Browns - Ernie Sims - The perfect 3-4 OLB. He is going to be a force in this league, and if he were 15 LBS heavier and 2 inches taller - he would rival AJ Hawk for the top LB in the draft. The Browns do VERY well for themselves here. Before we know it he is going to be a Perennial Probowler in this league. He will start immediatly - as Andre Davis is the only LB on the roster currently that is a starter in this league.
1.13 - Green Bay Packers - Lendale White - Ahman Green and Najeh Davenport each have one year deals which makes me think something is up. Both could very easily be training camp cutdowns, or trade block material. Lendale White is a 4 down running back with a mean streak, has the ability to run between the tackles and the speed to bounce it outside. It will spell a return to the days of old for Green Bay - Nasty, tough running. He never missed a game at USC due to injury, and he gained 913 yards after contact last year at USC! This was against top competition. Its not going to be the most popular pick in Green Bay, but I really dont think Ted Thompson gives a damn.
1.14 - Philly Eagles - Chad Greenway - They lose Terrell Owens and right now Reggie Brown is the #1 WR so WR is a need, but Andy Reid seems to be a guy who gets RBs and WRs later in the draft. Chad Greenway plays sideline to sideline and would fill in nicely as a replacement to Dhani Jones.
1.15 - Denver Broncos - Jimmy Williams - Tough Defensive back who can play either Corner or Safety. Broncos dont necessarly need to fill the safety position but Williams ability to play both corner and safety and be the successor to John Lynch makes this a most attractive pick for the Denver Broncos.
1.16 - Miami Dolphins - Tye Hill - The Dolphins have addressed CB via free agency, but still do not have anyone on the roster who can develop into a shut down corner. Tye Hill is that player and he is a surprise to have slipped this far. I cannot see anyway Hill slips past the Dolphins.
1.17 - Minnesota Vikings - Kamerion Wimbley - The Vikings will look to improve their pass rush. Wimbley is one of the best Edge rushers in this draft. The downside is that he is a bit of a tweener, but if the Vikings make the decision that he will be a pass rushing OLB - he will turn out to be a player similar to Peter Boulwire.
1.18 - Dallas Cowboys - Ko Simpson - Great size, great speed, outstanding playmaker. He is a perfect compliment to play next to Roy Williams, because Simpson can cover ground and doesnt miss tackles. They are going to address OLINE in the later picks.
1.19 - San Diego Chargers - Chad Jackson - Ran a 4.3 40 at the combine and passed OH ST's Santonio Holmes in the Process. Jackson has all the tools to be a top WR in this league and will instantly be able to come in and command respect over the middle. He is well worth the 19th pick in the draft. He will be McCardells successor and should develop nicely with Philip Rivers.
1.20 - KC Chiefs - Santonio Holmes - Slipping because of his concerns about his size and getting off the line of scrimmage, but he runs precise routes has great hands and makes the difficult catches. One of the best playmakers in the draft. Kennison isnt getting any younger and is goign to lose the speed that is his best asset. Dante Hall as a WR is an experiment that has been accepted as failure. Sammie Parker is still around but I just dont think he is an NFL player.
1.21 - New England Patriots - DeAngelo Williams - This is probably one of the worst kept secrets in Football. Corey Dillon is on the wrong side of 30 and there was an Obvious dip in his speed. Williams will instantly replace Kevin Faulk as the 3rd down back. The only hole in Williams game is his cut back running ability, but New England cant pass up on those numbers 8000 all purpose yards is a pretty impressive one.
1.22 - Denver Broncos - Mathias Kiwanuka - The Broncos lost Trevor Pryce to FA this year and they need a replacement. Kiwaunka gets the edge because of his frame. At 6-8 260 he definatly will be able to add another 25 LBS to that frame. With the weight will come the strength, allowing him to fill all the holes in his game. The Broncos definatly want a DE in the first round after being major players for John Abraham and losing out.
1.23 - Tampa Bay - Marcus McNeil - Tampas weakest point is their offensive line, and their strongest point is their Running game. See the significance? McNeil blocked for Caddy Williams in College and will get to open holes for many more years in Tampa. McNeil was a finalist for the Outland Trophy, and will fit right into Tampas plans for this year.
1.24 - Cincinatti Bengals - Ashton Youboty - Probably the best player available at this point, Youboty fills a huge need for the Bengals, who dont need to address the offensive side of the ball at this point because they are already so explosive over there. His 6ft 1 frame has room for antoher 15 Lbs. The Fans will love the fact that the Bengals will draft the home town kid and the latest in a long line of Ohio St Corners.
1.25 - St Louis Rams - Leonard Pope - The Rams wanted a TE in this draft and get Leonard Pope. His numbers at the combine were off the charts, adding a 6ft 8 TE with a 38 inch verticle shoudl make the fans in STL drool. I really wanted this guy to fall to GB in rd 2 but its not going to happen.
1.26 - Chicago Bears - Sinorice Moss - The Bears have a bunch of WR to play opposite Mushin Muhammed, but none of them are real #2 WRs. Moss might not be either, but he has elite speed, comes from an NFL ready Program(Miami) and fills a position of need. His size is a concern, but with the breakouts of guys like Steve Smith and his brother Santana Moss, size concerns at WR might be overlooked. Pedegree and Programs are big for Chicago, and thats why I think Moss is the pick.
1.27 - CArolina Panthers - Bobby Carpenter - Dan Morgan is the only LB left in Carolina - and Bobby Carpenter who was somewhat overshadowed by AJ Hawk may turn out to put up better stats his inital season. He has the size teams look for in a LB, is a great athlete and has good ball skills. Carolina is going to jump at the chance to get a player of his calibur at a position of huge need picking at #27.
1.28 - Jax Jaguars - Johnathan Joeseph - If it wasnt for his lack of experience, he would be a top 20 pick. One year of D1 football will always cause a player to slip, especially at a position like CB or WR. Jacksonville NEEDS a corner - and Joeseph is the pick.
1.29 - Houston Texans - Johnathan Scott - Houston get the home town tackle and more or less strikes Gold. They couldnt have Mario Williams and D'Brick but they get the next best thing. They also satisfy the hometown fans who wanted them to draft Vince Young in the process.
1.30 - Indy Colts - Laurence Maroney RB - The Colts needed a Running Back to replace Edge and they get one in Maroney. What Maroney lacks in refined skills he more than makes up for in playmaking ability. Maroney needs to improve his blocking and catching, but he has the athletic ability to learn both and should be a fixture in the Indy backfield for years.
1.31 - Seattle Seahawks - Donte Whitner - The Seahawks cant pass on a player like this. With departures and injuries to the saftey position (hamlin and Manual) Whitner will be able to step right in and play. He can play both Corner and S, which means Seattle will have no problems getting him on the field. This Seahawks team looks poised for a Superbowl Run again.
1.32 - Pittsburg Steelers - Gabe Watson - A Gift for the Steelers, as Watson gets to slip right into the rotation at DE/NT in the Steelers 3-4 scheme. A Perfect fit.
