Monitor setup for home (telework) HD/QHD/UHD? (1 Viewer)

Strictly work related monitors (speadsheets, analytical and web based programs) NO GAMING.  Did a forum search and the last one I found was from June 2018.

My office work setup is dual 24" HDs (1920x1200) and a laptop 14" QHD (2560x1440) and I'm using all 3 screens through a docking station, laptop open.  Love the setup.  Do most of my work on the 24"ers, and keep email/skype/personal surfing to the laptop screen.  I'd like to do something similar at home but keep it to one monitor instead of two.  Laptop only has one HDMI and I'd prefer not to get another docking station or travel home with it.  At a minimum I'm thinking a 27" QHD.  31.5" HD might not work for multiple spreadsheets like I do on the dual 24's.  I'd scale down the 27" QHD to 175% instead of the recommended 200% (I do this on the 14" QHD laptop and love it).

Anyone run a setup like this for telework?  Laptop QHD plus one QHD monitor instead of dual HD's, and how do you like it compared to dual HDs?

Is the upgrade to 31.5" QHD worth the extra cost and will I regret not getting that extra 4.5" later?  32's are huge!

Can HDMI run QHD (2560x1440)?  I think I just need to make sure the HDMI cord is 1.4 or above?  Pretty sure my laptop can handle it.

TIA

If you like the setup at work, I would duplicate it.  The higher resolution will not make up for loss in screen real estate.  The resolution should help you to see smaller font sizes more clearly, but you will have to go to a significantly smaller font to display the same data you do at work.   But it is really up to you and what you are comfortable with and how much data you really need to be displayed.

Ended up finding an open box LG 27UL600-W 27" 4K-HDR at Best Buy marked down to $287 from $430.   Definitely overkill, but the 4k resolution at 27" works for splitting the screen for multiple spreadsheets/programs.  Font is small, but readable.  32" would be better.  Not going to complain too much for the cost and this LG screen is amazing and comfy on the eyes.
