Packers RB Morency To See Increased Role In Offense

Packers.com - [Full Article]

According to Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy, running back Vernand Morency is expected to see an increased role with the team in Week 3. "I think you'll see some more of him this week," McCarthy said. "He's picked it up very fast. I thought he did well today in practice with his opportunities. I'm very happy with him, I think he's been a good addition. We'll look to use him and get some productivity out of him this week."

Ahman Green owners should be worried.

NOT!!!

Expect Morency to give Green some breathers and that's about it. Green is clearly back from his injury in my eyes and a great value this season in leagues that you can start 3 runners.

The Packers want Morency to take on the same role Tony Fisher had in recent seasons -- the third-down RB who was on the field in most passing situations. In my opinion he will also be the clear backup should anything happen to Green. How effective Morency will be remains to be seen (I happen to like him and think he's talented) but if you're looking for Green's handcuff this is the guy, not Noah Herron.

Exactly. His role has to increase because he hasn't had one yet. ;) Morency was brought in to take some of the load off of Green especially in some 3rd down and passing situations. It's no different than having Tony Fisher and Najeh Davenport there.Green has taken almost every handoff from Favre and they needed another back that could catch the ball out of the backfield and give Green some rest. This is a non-issue for Green owners. The only one here that thinks it is an issue is Big Score. :lmao:

Any thoughts on his longer term role, considering Green is not exactly on the young side? He seemed to do pretty well in limited time last year with Houston.

exactly, as a handcuf to Ahman Green he has value..Look at Gado's #'s last year when AG went down.. Green is an injury risk (as most RB's are), so getting the guy who would take over for him if there was an injury makes sense
