Moscow Mitch (1 Viewer)

Ok.  Now that my morning snark is out of the way, *here* is an issue I can really sink my teeth into.

While you, my friend, have a wonderful avatar.  Like Maleficent herself, sadly, there is someone fairer in this great realm.  And her name is @Mile High
My reaction of laughter was both a challenge and genuine agreement. Mile High's avatar has always been on point and noticed.

The fairest, you say?

Laughing. Thanks for that this morning, Sweet J.

I mean, I've just been working under the assumption that people with women avatars chose them because they admired their expertise in foreign policy, chemistry, philosophy, or some other intellectual endeavor, and that their superficial attractiveness in a manner consistent with our socially constructed patriarchal and misogynist Western standards of beauty was just incidental.  Have I been wrong all this time?

Carmen Electra is an underrated philosopher

I think I'd prefer to think of mine as sort of modern French Renaissance woman, if the truth be told. Serious actress, muse, pop singer, pop star.

Is that who your avatar is??????? I've been wondering the whole time thinking that you -- yes you -- had easily one of the best looking avatars on the board.

This despite your green, paradisiacal longings.

I definitely don't think he should retweet the image.

Ignoring it entirely is probably correct.

I don't think elected officials should have to weigh in every time a group of high school kids does something dumb.
Nor do I but that's also how you teach young people. You don't ignore their bad behavior, you correct them. This can especially impactful when it comes from someone who is seen as a hero/role model/mentor. It would have a much bigger impact than a bunch of random people on Twitter railing on them which is easy to laugh off, ignore or respond by elevating their own rhetoric.

thanks.....I think
Naw. No backhanded compliment. I'm just remembering rock-stomping a thread you had once. Somebody opined "what did this thread do to get the rockaction treatment?"

I felt bad. It was about statewide self-sustainable energy policies in certain areas, and I sort of pooh-poohed it with inanities. It was a worthy topic of discussion.

Angry far left protesters gathered outside of Mitch McConnell’s home on Monday night.

Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is recuperating at his home in Kentucky after he fell down and broke his shoulder.

The mob leader was screaming, “##### Mitch!” on a bullhorn and said she hopes “someone just stabs the motherf*cker”

McConnell’s official bluecheck account posted video of the mob threatening the Republican Senator and Twitter sprung into action and locked the account for ‘violating the terms of service violent threats policy.’

“This morning, Twitter locked our account for posting the video of real-world, violent threats made against Mitch McConnell,” McConnell’s campaign manager Kevin Golden told the Daily Caller.

Golden pointed out that Twitter allowed the hashtag #MassacreMitch to trend over the weekend, “but locks our account for posting actual threats against us.”
I'm so confused

ummmm…..its public...….
Yeah, hence my usage.

How about "disseminating" as a better and more damning term before the "public disclosure" part?

I think my subsequent posts are all very aware the information has already been released and that the real question lies in how readily available the information is. To pick one word out of about two to three thousand words seems awfully nitpicky, no?

That's fine and what the past four or so pages of the thread was spent arguing.

My position: The use of public disclosure with respect to campaign finance law goes against the legislation's original ends and goals, but power to the power!

Is a random person on the street talking about voodoo dolls the same as 5 or 6 guys with Team Mitch shirts posting photos simulating attacking a congresswoman?
One person was "simulating attacking".

As if kids wearing team mitch shirts somehow makes them govt officials. :lmao:

Is it a good look?  Especially with the tombstone thing going on as well?
Absolutely not a good look. Its an awful look.

The tombstone thing isnt a good look either, but it is actually less of a violent threat(since it had relevant dates on them making it obvious what they meant) than "murder turtle".

I don't see it as a violent threat (the tombstone) just stupid and in very poor taste (and especially the Garland one...utter stupidity there).

Completely agree. The timing was really terrible. And mitch retweeted it so the poor taste certainly reflects upon him there.

If you believe Vladimir Putin, Mitch isn't a Russian asset or any kind of asset to anyone. The lady doth protest too much, methinks.

https://www.newyorker.com/humor/borowitz-report/putin-denies-mitch-mcconnell-is-russian-asset-he-has-never-been-an-asset-to-any-country

MOSCOW (The Borowitz Report)—Pushing back against charges that Senator Mitch McConnell is a Russian asset, the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, said on Tuesday that McConnell “has never been an asset to any country.”

“You can scour the four corners of the globe, and you will not find a nation that would ever in a million years consider Mitch McConnell an asset,” Putin said.

The Russian President urged pundits who have called McConnell a Russian asset “to look up the word ‘asset’ in the dictionary.”

“You will find that ‘asset’ means a useful or valuable thing,” Putin said. “The only part of that definition that fits McConnell is ‘thing.’ ”

Pressing his case further, he said that it was debatable whether McConnell was even an asset to his home state of Kentucky. “Maybe compared to Rand Paul he is, but that’s setting the bar ludicrously low,” he said.

Concluding his remarks, Putin said that people who ask, “Who does Mitch McConnell work for?” are asking the wrong question. “The question should be ‘When has Mitch McConnell ever worked?’ ” he said.

Including the United States.
