If you are  subscriber go to LeagueDominator-MatchupDominator-Settings-Optimize to

your choices are :

Win % vs Opponent - the lineup that gives you the best chance of beating your opponent
Most Points - the lineup that is most likely to score you the most fantasy points

Can somebody explain why these things would ever be different?

Score projections have to come with some sort of variance...there's almost no chance that a projection will be hit exactly.  Some players have high variance..."boom or bust" types that are as likely to blow up as post a dud.  Other players are fairly consistent week to week, and generally score within a narrow range of points.

"Most points" would refer to the highest mean score.  Whichever player has the highest average.

Now imagine the boom or bust player averages 5 pts by scoring either 1 pt or 9 pts, while the steady eddie always scores 6 pts every week.  Steady Eddie will be the selection for the "most points" option.  But if your opponent is projected to outscore you, you may have a better chance of beating him by starting Boomer.  If Boomer posts a dud, you lose anyway - your best chance of winning is to get a boom day out of him.
