History has proven one or two of these guys could stick and even make a fantasy impact. Who would be your pick?

Curtis Hamilton 6-0 195 WR Western Kentucky

• 40 yard Dash at the combine

• Birthday 11/15/1985 Age: 22

The Good:

The Bad:

The Truth: I do not know anything about Hamilton other than that what I can gather from his statistics. He improved his receptions and yards all four years in college but aside from his standout junior season where he caught 10 TD’s he only combined for nine in the other three years combined and never had more than four in any one season. He is from Italy, has OK size, and went to a small school. Based simply on the above I do not see Hamilton ever being any kind of fantasy factor at any time in his career and definitely not for at least a few years.

The Truth:

Drafted: Undrafted Free Agent-Chicago Bears

Shane Longest 5-11 176 K St. Xavier

• 40 yard Dash 4.85

• Birthday NA

The Good: Made 42-55 FG attempts over the past two seasons. Made a 55 yard FG last season and had 20 touchbacks. Good rise on his kicks. Has added value as a potential punter if needed. He said he has hit a 75 yarder in practice before, I’m sure every kicker would tell you a similar story so take that with a grain of salt.

The Bad: Some scouts consider him good at everything but great at nothing.

The Truth: The only NAIA player invited to the combine. Starred as St. Xavier’s punter, kicker, and kickoff man. Has improved on his accuracy in all four years and has enough leg strength to warrant a long look from NFL teams. Is still a long shot to be a starting kicker and has no shot of unseating Robbie Gould but could end up with some team if the stars aligned just right.

The Truth:

Drafted: Undrafted Free Agent-Cleveland Browns

Kolo Kapanui 6-3 268 TE West Texas A&M

• 40 yard Dash 5.06 at the combine

• Birthday // Age:

The Good: Built more like a big FB than a TE so he is good running people over. Makes for a good short yardage target. Good strength as a runner and blocker.

The Bad: Still learning the skills of route running. Is already 24. Some question his heart after taking two years off from football. Not much of a downfield weapon as he has limited speed. Big blocker but needs work on his technique. Played at West Texas A&M.

The Truth: Actually committed to USC out of high school so he’s got talent but his age, level of competition at West Texas A&M, and his lack of route running skills is a concern. Likely to be a late round or FA pick up and doesn’t offer much more than a short yardage runner or target and has limited to no fantasy value.

Drafted: Undrafted Free Agent-Cleveland Browns

Drafted: Undrafted Free Agent-Cleveland Browns

Danny Amendola 5-11 179 WR Texas Tech

• 40 yard Dash 4.64 at the combine

• Birthday 11/2/1985 Age: 22

The Good: Good initial quickness. Knows how to use his hands and rarely lets the ball get into his body. Good slot receiver who knows how to find the soft spot in the zone. Adds value as a punt returner.

The Bad: Lacks height and bulk, has a thin build, short arms, and small hands. Isn’t always the toughest guy when going for a ball over the middle. Good effort blocker but needs work. Lacks explosiveness and a second gear.

The Truth: Will be compared with former Red Raiders star Wes Welker but the truth is that Amendola lacks the strength and speed that Welker brings to the table. At worst Amendola doesn’t even make an NFL roster, at best he’s a nice return man who develops into a Welker or Brandon Stokley type in a few years. My guess is somewhere in the middle which says he likely has limited to no fantasy value.

Drafted: Undrafted Free Agent-Dallas Cowboys

Drew Atchinson - TE William & Mary

• 40 yard Dash

• Birthday // Age:

The Good:

The Bad:

The Truth:

Drafted: Undrafted Free Agent-Dallas Cowboys

Mark Bradford 6-1 212 WR Stanford

• 40 yard Dash 4.69 at the combine

• Birthday 10/7/1984 Age: 23

The Good: Good athletic size and build. Good quickness off the line but lacks explosiveness out of his breaks and lacks top speed. Does a good job of using moves to separate from defenders. Good hands, excellent body control, and the ability to use his size to compete for jump balls.

The Bad: May not have the great upside that many NFL teams are looking for. Isn’t very physical. Has had injury problems including missing the entire 2006 season with torn ligaments in his right foot.

The Truth: He has “deep sleeper” potential as he is a great route runner with good size and a 36.5” vertical jump. He is a possession receiver that could actually see the field for the Cowboys in a couple of seasons if things fell right but fantasy wise I wouldn’t expect much.

Drafted: Undrafted Free Agent-Dallas Cowboys

Joe West 6-1 208 WR UTEP

• 40 yard Dash 4.52 at the combine

• Birthday 2/1/1984 Age: 24

The Good: Good size. Quick in and out of his breaks. Not afraid to hang out over the middle. Knows how to move the chains. Has the ability to make the first guy miss.

The Bad: Lacks ideal speed. Not that quick off the line and struggles against the jam. Has the ability to make big time catches but then turn around and drop the easy ones. Not a great blocker.

The Truth: Has sports in his blood line as cousins Doug and Mark played in the NBA and brother Tracy pitched for the Blue Jays, with that said I wouldn’t look for Joe to be much of a fantasy receiver as he lacks the speed and quickness that NFL teams are looking for.

Drafted: Undrafted Free Agent-Dallas Cowboys

Anthony Alridge 5-9 174 RB Houston

• 40 yard Dash 4.36 at the combine

• Birthday 11/24/1983 Age: 24

The Good: Small but muscular with excellent speed. Good quickness and straight-line speed. Natural runner with soft hands. Has take it to the house speed any time he touches the ball. Very tough runner for his size. Has no injury history.

The Bad: Doesn’t have ideal size, more of a tweener that could have a difficult time being an every down back. Tends to let the ball get into his body and thus has some bad drops. Not a great blocker. Is already going to be 25 years old during this season.

The Truth: Played RB, WR, and returner at Houston and has speed to burn. His lack of size and strength to be an every down back and isn’t a good enough blocker and doesn’t have good enough hands to be a third down back. He averaged 180 all-purpose yards a game last season and his speed should alone should allow him to at least get a look ala Darren Sproles and Garrett Wolfe. Don’t worry about him any time soon from a fantasy perspective but in the right situation he could be guy to at least know about.

Drafted: Undrafted Free Agent-Denver Broncos

Garrett Hartley 5-8 204 K Oklahoma

• 40 yard Dash

• Birthday 5/16/1986 Age: 21

The Good:

The Bad:

The Truth: Other than being from Big 12 country I know little about Hartley other than he connected on 13-15 but only attempted two FG’s over 40 yards making both of them. Kicker is one of the few positions where size really isn’t a factor but 5-8/204 doesn’t scream NFL prospect to me. I’ll update if needed before or after the NFL draft.

Drafted: Undrafted Free Agent-Denver Broncos

Lorne Sam 6-2 215 WR UTEP

• 40 yard Dash 4.53 at the combine

• Birthday 12/5/1984 Age: 23

The Good: Good size. Good quickness off the line. Versatile athlete who played QB and WR while at UTEP. Could be used in a “slash” role.

The Bad: Not good enough to play QB at the next level and very raw at WR. Not great deep speed. Allows too many passes to get into his body thus resulting in drops.

The Truth: Yet another QB moving to WR, how well has that worked out aside from say Hines Ward. Lorne is the brother of P.K. Sam and I don’t see Lorne having any better of a career than P.K. so there is no fantasy value here.

Davone Bess 5-10 195 WR Hawaii (Underlcassman)

• 40 yard Dash 4.64 at the combine

• Birthday 9/13/1985 Age: 22

The Good: Lacks the ideal size but has a thick frame to withstand the wear and tear in the NFL. Soft hands, good body control, and quickness. Has the ability to make defenders miss in the open.

The Bad: Doesn’t have good size or speed. May just be a product of Hawaii’s fun and gun system. Has had some bad drops.

The Truth: Is a very interesting prospect who could be a great NFL slot type receiver. He lacks great size and speed but has good quickness, hands, and the ability to create after the catch. As with a lot of Hawaii receivers some feel he is just a system receiver. The bottom line is that at best he is a Wes Welker type, at worst he becomes Peter Warrick. Keep an eye on him.

Drafted: Undrafted Free Agent-Miami Dolphins

Selwyn Lymon 6-4 215 WR Purdue (Underclassman)

• 40 yard Dash 4.59 at the combine

• Birthday 9/21/1986 Age: 21

The Good:

The Bad:

The Truth: I do not know a lot about Lymon other than he was dismissed from Purdue after his junior season which obviously played a major role in him declaring early for the NFL draft. He only combined for 73 receptions, 1013 yards, and 5 TD’s the past two seasons so he’s not a big playmaker despite his great size. He is likely a long shot to have any fantasy impact, especially anytime in the next couple of seasons.

BenJarvus Green-Ellis 5-11 220 RB Ole’ Miss

• 40 yard Dash 4.60 at the combine

• Birthday 7/2/1985 Age: 22

The Good: Solid size with muscular frame. Good quickness off the line. Good acceleration thru the hole. Plays faster than his 40 time. Not a fumbler. Workhorse back.

The Bad: Not always patient waiting for blocks to develop. Not a good receiver. Had 920 rushing attempts in his career.

The Truth: Has proven throughout his career that he can handle the load and has put up big number despite being surrounded by average talent. Sleeper who could emerge as a quality fantasy back in the next year or two.

Drafted: Undrafted Free Agent-New England Patriots

Jonathan Stupar 6-3 254 TE

• 40 yard Dash

The Good:

The Bad:

The Truth:

Drafted: Undrafted Free Agent-New England Patriots

Todd Blythe 6-4 210 WR Iowa St

• 40 yard Dash 4.61 at the combine

• Birthday 3/31/1985 Age: 22

The Good: Is the ideal receiver size wise. Knows how to use his height to his advantage, adjusts well to the ball, and will win most jump balls. Solid blocker. Doesn’t drop many balls. Is tough, came back only five months after a torn ACL in 2005.

The Bad: Has good size but is lanky and could use some more strength. Has a tendency to let the ball come into his body but still rarely drops passes. Must improve his route running as cornerbacks can jump the route as he doesn’t have great cuts. Needs to learn to sustain blocks longer.

The Truth: Started all four years while at Iowa St so he knows the position and is an interesting fantasy prospect. He’s no Randy Moss but he still has the potential to be a Drew Bennett type that has a solid NFL career. I wouldn’t expect much in his first year or two but he is a guy to keep an eye on, especially in dynasty leagues.

Evan Moore 6-7 236 WR Stanford

• 40 yard Dash 4.74 at the combine

• Birthday 1/3/1985 Age: 23

The Good:

The Bad:

The Truth: I don’t know much about Moore other than he’s huge at 6-7/236 but the fact that he only had 39 receptions, 481 yards, and one TD concerns me, especially considering he had 39 receptions, 616 yards, and 6 TD’s as a freshman. It’s difficult to ignore his height but he’s slow and is basically a TE/WR tweener that likely won’t make it at either position and it would be a surprise if he were ever a fantasy factor.

Shaheer McBride 6-2 198 WR Deleware St

• 40 yard Dash 4.61 at the combine

• Birthday 2/8/1985 Age: 23

The Good: Good height. Quick off the line and reaches top speed quickly. Adjusts well to poorly thrown balls and knows how to use his height on jump balls. Good at making the first man miss.

The Bad: Lacks bulk and strength to get off the line against strong cornerbacks. Lacks separation speed. Needs to work on his blocking. Played at Deleware St so hasn’t faced top competition.

The Truth: He has nice height and great hands but lacks ideal speed and will likely find himself on the outside looking in so don’t expect him to ever be a fantasy option.

Drafted: Undrafted Free Agent-Philadelphia Eagles

Dorien Bryant 5-10 169 WR Purdue

• 40 yard Dash 4.49 at the combine

• Birthday 3/19/1985 Age: 23

The Good: Good quickness off the line with an extra gear to stretch defenses. Good hands. Nice route runner. Easily learns new plays. Natural instincts. Good at locating the soft spot in the zone. Has the athletic ability to go up for jump balls but lacks the size to win them all. Added value as a return man.

The Bad: Undersized in height and weight. Not a weight room guy. Poor blocker. Has had some off field problems and school wasn’t his favorite subject. Not good at coming back to the ball when his QB is in trouble.

The Truth: The Purdue coaching staff called him the toughest guy on the team and the next Steve Smith but I’m just not buying the smoke they are selling and the fact that he went undrafted shows nobody else is either. He does have good quickness and the athletic ability that scouts love BUT he’s small, he has shown little interest in putting in extra work, he’s had on and off field problems, and he just doesn’t seem like he wants to be anything special. Byrant looks to be a boom or bust guy who could be a nice sleeper if he were to learn from Hines Ward and change his approach to the game.

Drafted: Undrafted Free Agent-San Diego Chargers

Billy Pittman 6-1 200 WR Texas

• 40 yard Dash 4.70 at the combine

• Birthday 9/19/1984 Age: 23

The Good: Good size with an athletic build. Good quickness off the line. Has good burst out of his breaks and has good enough moves to separate from defenders. Soft hands.

The Bad: Lacks the true speed that NFL scouts are looking for. Not great at timing his leap to get the ball in a crowd.

The Truth: Lacks good speed but makes up for it with quickness, good moves, and route running ability. Is an interesting prospect despite not even being the best player on his own team in college. (Limas Sweed). Could be a sleeper worth knowing about at some point in the next few years as the Chargers aren’t exactly loaded at receiver..

Travis Brown 6-2 192 WR New Mexico

• 40 yard Dash 4.64 at the combine

• Birthday 7/26/1986 Age: 21

The Good: Tall receiver that is best as a possession receiver out of the slot which causes mismatches in his favor. Has the ability to make the tough catches with his good body control. Solid blocker.

The Bad: Lacks strength. Has too many drops. Doesn’t have great speed. Needs to work on his route running and his ball security as he will lose the ball on big hits. Needs to work on blocking on the run.

The Truth: Likely to be a late round draft pick or free agent who is nothing more than a possession slot receiver who likely will never have any fantasy value.

• Birthday 10/25/1984 Age: 23

The Good: While he doesn’t have ideal size he is a strong, compact runner with good instincts and toughness. Good runner after contact and excellent at fighting for extra yards. Has soft hands and runs good routes. Tough blocker. Added value as a return man.

The Bad: Doesn’t have great size or speed. Lacks breakaway speed.

The Truth: The odds are stacked against Bernard to even make a roster as he lacks ideal size and speed but his toughness, guts, and brains will get him a long look and he has the potential to at least make a roster due to his special teams skills. Don’t look for him to be a fantasy factor.

Jason Rivers 6-2 194 WR Hawaii

• 40 yard Dash 4.59

• Birthday 5/12/1984 Age: 23

The Good: Good size. Good quickness off the line. Good at finding the hole in the zone and knows when to come back and help his quarterback when he’s in trouble. Good hands and body control. Knows how to use his size on jump balls. Good toughness.

The Bad: Doesn’t have great speed and agility. Has a tendency to let passes get into his body. Not great against press coverage. As with most Hawaii players he had inflated numbers due to their system.

The Truth: Rivers is a potential sleeper who has the size, hands, and quickness to be a late round pick and find a roster spot but he lacks the speed to likely ever be much of a fantasy prospect.

I will never provide an opinion about football ever again if Anthony Morelli ever becomes relevant.

As for who I believe in on this list...

Danny Amendola

Mike Peterson (Bloom and Cecil sold me)

Ben Jarvus Green Ellis

Garrett Hartley 5-8 204 K Oklahoma• 40 yard Dash • Birthday 5/16/1986 Age: 21 The Good: The Bad: The Truth: Other than being from Big 12 country I know little about Hartley other than he connected on 13-15 but only attempted two FG’s over 40 yards making both of them. Kicker is one of the few positions where size really isn’t a factor but 5-8/204 doesn’t scream NFL prospect to me. I’ll update if needed before or after the NFL draft.Drafted: Undrafted Free Agent-Denver Broncos
I saw Hartley play in HS several times. You may have heard of the program he came from - Southlake Carroll near Dallas (think QB Chase Daniel). He's got a very strong leg -- 60-yarders in pregames and 50-yarders in games weren't unusual during HS. He was a Groza finalist in his Junior year at OU and was 3-4 from 50+ in his college career. NFL coaching, Denver air, strong leg, team need for PK -- it's only May but he's definitely on my radar this year.

Hello, I from the same hometown as Nick Hill, free agent undrafted for the Chicago Bears.

I made his fan website of Nick Hill Football at http://www.nickhillfootball.com so that people can follow his professional career.

I noticed on here that his details are blank. Here is it. Two year starter on the Southern Illinois University Salukis. Played Joe Flacco in the 1AA semifinals and lost 20-17 on a cold rainy day when two SIU TD were called back. Big time player. Really good work ethic, hard worker. Takes a knock for not having a Flacco type arm but will learn an NFL playbook pretty well. Only started two years mostly because he was an all state in basketball and football. 8th in voting for Mr. Illinois basketball and took a full scholarship to Western Kentucky to play basketball. Transferred and red shirt to SIUC and played both basketball and football at SIU for one year, then quit basketball and focused on football.

Jabari Arthur 6-4 219 WR Akron

• 40 yard Dash 4.63

• Birthday // Age:

The Good: King-sized pass-catcher whose game is on the upswing. Sells routes, comes back into the clearing of the defense, and works to make himself an available target. Plays with good body control, knows where he is on the field, and makes the difficult reception in a crowd. Effectively uses the sidelines, extends his hands, and looks the pass in. Adjusts to the errant throw and displays good concentration. Strong downfield blocker. Has great size and excellent bulk...Real strong...Tough and isn't afraid to work the middle...Powerful runner after the catch....An above average blocker...Decent ball skills and body control...Nice concentration...A hard worker with great intangibles.

The Bad: Not quick releasing off the line and a one-speed receiver who lacks the second gear. Marginally effective running after the reception. Does not have very good speed or quickness....Inconsistent hands and is a body catcher...Isn't a great route runner...Plays with poor pad level...Does not always play as physical as he should...Is not very elusive...Has some durability concerns.

The Truth: Arthur is a prototypical possession receiver at the next level who has a shot of making an active roster if he polishes his game. First name is pronounced "Ja-BARRY"....Native of Canada who hails from Montreal, Quebec...Played quarterback early in his college career...The Calgary Stampeders selected him with the 6th overall pick in the 2007 CFL Draft...Led the Hula Bowl in receiving with 5 catches for 88 yards...Dealt with shoulder and foot injuries while with the Zips...He will most likely profile as a possession receiver at the next level.

The Truth:

Drafted: Undrafted Free Agent-Kansas City Chiefs

Connor Barth 5-11 193 K North Carolina

• 40 yard Dash 4.95

• Birthday // Age:

The Good: Decent size...Has plenty of leg...Clutch and handles pressure really well...Can also kickoff....Has developed good accuracy and consistency...Productive...Experienced.

The Bad: Has trouble with the longer attempts..Some of his kicks come out a little low...Had had too many of his attempts blocked..Struggled with accuracy early in his career.

The Truth: Younger brother Casey is also a kicker and walked-on with the Tar Heels...Was a first-team All-American in high school...Was a four-year starter..Holds the Tar Heel record for most field goals made....Deserves a camp invite....Underrated prospect.

Drafted: Undrafted Free Agent-Kansas City Chiefs

Mike Cox 6-0 252 FB Georgia Tech

• 40 yard Dash 4.84

• Birthday // Age:

The Good: Excellent size and bulk...Very strong and physical...Outstanding lead blocker...Can hold his ground in pass pro...Aggressive with a killer instinct...Decent receiver out of the backfield...Smart with nice awareness...Has a non-stop motor..Hard worker.

The Bad: Is not a smooth athlete..Lacks ideal timed speed and doesn't have a burst..Offers very little as a runner and didn't get many chances to carry the ball...Must learn to keep his feet moving on contact...Was not productive..Has some durability issues.

The Truth: Was a three-year starter in the ACC...Underwent shoulder surgery before the '07 season...Could make a roster with the right team but more often than not the NFL is looking for versatility from their fullbacks these days....One-dimensional blocker.

Drafted: Undrafted Free Agent-Kansas City Chiefs

Calvin McRae 5-9 203 RB Ohio

• 40 yard Dash 4.66

• Birthday // Age:

The Good: Natural runner with good vision and instincts...Strong and runs hard...Tough and durable...A pretty good receiver out of the backfield...Has decent awareness as a blocker..Excellent production...Hard worker..Team leader...Has a lot of experience.

The Bad: Below average size and bulk...Does not have great speed and lacks a burst...Poor ball security...Doesn't have much wiggle and won't make people miss...Has lots of mileage on his tires...Did not always play against top competition...Limited upside.

The Truth: Was a four-year starter...The Bobcats all-time leading rusher...A jack-of-all-trades who does everything well but nothing great..A terrific mid-level college player who simply doesn't have the physical tools to project as anything more than a backup.

Drafted: Undrafted Free Agent-Kansas City Chiefs

Ricky Santos 6-0 209 QB New Hampshire

• 40 yard Dash 5.0

• Birthday // Age:

The Good: Extremely productive...Great leadership abilities..Intense and competitive and is a true gamer...Good touch and timing...Pretty accurate...Quick delivery...Has decent mobility and can make plays with his feet...Is very tough...Has a lot of experience.

The Bad: Did not play against top competition...Lacks the ideal size that you look for...Does not have a very strong arm...Can be reckless at times...Makes iffy decisions when under duress...Worked from the shotgun and has to adjust to a pro style offense.

The Truth: A four-year starter...In 2006 he won the Walter Payton Award as the top player in I-AA football...His cousin, Bobby Santos, races in the NASCAR Busch Series...Prolific college player who was dominant at his level but lacks the physical tools you look for in a NFL signal caller...Stats and intangibles could get him in somebody's camp.

Drafted: Undrafted Free Agent-Kansas City Chiefs

Luke Swan 5-11 191 WR Wisconsin

• 40 yard Dash 4.62

• Birthday // Age:

The Good: Adequate height and bulk...Excellent route runner...Fantastic leaping ability....Nice body control and ball skills...Very smart with good awareness..Decent athlete with reliable hands...Gives nice effort as a blocker..Hard worker with a non-stop motor.

The Bad: Does not have the timed speed you look for...Not explosive and lacks a burst...Is not real strong or physical and gets pushed around...Has some health / durability concerns..Offers very little after the catch..Real limited experience and production.

The Truth: A former walk-on...Only about a season and a half of starting experience...Missed over half of his senior season with a torn hamstring that required surgery...Better athleticism than he is given credit for and might still have some upside...Could be brought in as a late round developmental type...Profiles as a possession receiver.

Drafted: Undrafted Free Agent-Kansas City Chiefs
