Yes I have a problem....

I Entered these events:

$3,000 FFPC Varsity. 12-Team League. 1st Place =$20,000, 2nd = $8,500, 3rd = $4,000

$1,350 FFPC ME + $100 Play4Life + $100 Field of 128 - $100K+ top prize. $8,500 in league prizes. I drew the #2 hole

$1,250 "Big Dog" FFPC" Online Draft Masters

$750 LIVE FFPC Auction

$750 LIVE FFPC DraftMasters

$1,600 in side bets in "FREE" Joe's vs Pro's Draftmasters event

$500 Phenoms League

Pros:

I spent $600 less than the time I played in the World Series of Poker

Cons:

$9,400!!!!! What am I thinking?

I'm thinking this post is going to get bumped if you ever try to raise the rates around here?

No WCOFF events?
I am throwing all my weight into the FFPC this year. I really love the "dual flex" and TE PPR of 1.5 points. I think it makes for many more strategies. I have crushed the stock market the last two years and have always wanted to take a big shot at these leagues. I promise my results won't impact the FBG subscription price.

I wish I had your wife.
Not married....likely why I can do this kind of stuff.Although when I was married, my wife let me take $10K to "gamble" in the stock market. I turned that $10K to $80K in less than 6 months via CRAZY leverage on internet companies. I had visions of having my house paid off within a year. Scott Trade gave me 4X leverage and I always had the $250K - $300K in play.....and then in a span of two days, I got a margin call. I not only LOST all of the $80K, I owed another $2,600. Wife was unbelievably supportive through that so who knows she probably would have signed off on this too if we were still together. It did take me MANY YEARS before I ventured back into day-trading stocks though...

Looking forward to taking you down in the $750 LIVE FFPC DraftMasters in Vegas!

Although I'm a bit depressed that fantasy football is my hobby rather than my job and my 'big money' entry seems to be one of your least expensive :X

If you did all these FFPC events why didn't you write the perfect draft article for it?

I think you know the answer to that...LOL. Actually I get spread so thin right around now and I knew Jeff would crush this article. Of course, drafting Kevin Boss probably would not have made my article as I think that guy is a scrub.

Clayton Gray is in this event too. This should be a ton of fun.

How do you keep up with doing all the waivers and trading?

I play in four leagues (only 3 do waivers) and I find that to be tough enough to keep up with.

Clayton Gray and Aaron Rudnicki are co-managers. This is another benefit of doing all the same format. Waivers are all late in this format after I have crunched all the site data for next week, etc.

Looks like I'm gonna be in Vegas the night of Fri, Sept. 10th.Have tix to a show starting at 7:30 and looks as though this thing kicks off at 6pm....do they allow misc. spectators in this area? If so, I'll have to pay a visit.

I'm not certain on that one. It is in a ballroom over at Caesars. There will be several drafts going on there throughout that day through FFPC

Thanks for your support, David! :goodposting:

I'm hesitant to jump into the FFPC water too deeply b/c I'm not familiar with RTS.I've been able to download free agent info from my various MFL leagues each year into a spreadsheet. Is managing RTS multiple leagues as easy as MFL?i.e. can one link and download the data into excel each week?

In all these leagues trading is not allowed so that saves time, also in the draftmasters it is a 26 rd draft that counts your 'optimized' lineup each week. No trades or free agency. In those there is nothing to do after the draft except watch

This - is even easier as above the "top players" listing, there is an option for "spreadsheet" which you can click and it will immediately give you a box to download and save

I'm not a betting guy but in this case, it seems like this might be in order. To answer your question, I'm sure David will get paid if he wins. In fact, I'm sure any winner of the FFPC will get paid if they win. Here's the bet. If FFPC doesn't pay the grand prize winner in full as they've promised, I'll pay you $5,000.If they do pay the grand prize winner as they've promised, you pay me $5.What do you say?J

Best of luck to you Dodds. As a college student, I can't even imagine throwing that kind of scratch around.

That was the easiest $5 made in the history of betting. Good job Joe.
You think? Putting up 5K to get 5.00 back. Alot can happen, if you think not would you like in on the same bet?
Just so we're clear, your belief is that they will stiff the grand prize winner that they have legal obligations to pay and would lose tons of revenue/subscribers if they were to not pay, but they WILL PAY you $5,000 based on a message board post?Interesting theory.

You are the person who just gave AFFL money right? You do realize that they still owe the 2009 winner (and are being sued for non-payment while they take 2010 signups)? Seeing how you likely flushed that money down the drain already, I am not looking to kick people when they are down.I do think Joe will win this bet unless the world ends. But I don't want to give someone incentive to somehow make these bets good (just like I was never willing to have a million dollar life insurance policy on me when I knew I was getting a divorce), so I am going to pass here. The FFPC protects their money in an escrow account. The other high stakes contests don't do this. I am not going to say the other contests WON'T PAY, but I do know the chance of non-payment is significantly higher in their events.Enough of this hijack though. and good luck collecting should you actually win the AFFL.

I knew you would not take this bet. But again why was no emails sent out that AFFL hasn't paid out there winners? Was FBG owned money? Was FBG being paid still by AFFL for AD's? Thanks

We have no affiliation with AFFL and have never taken their money nor run their ads. FBGs role in this industry is not to be the watchdog. We have tightened up our policy regarding accepting ads for leagues and contests though. Companies need to demonstrate that the prize pool is safe before we run their ads. In our opinion, companies not escrowing the prize pool, using LeagueSafe or a competing service have something to hide. For us, we prefer to leave those potential ad dollars alone.

Fair enough. Sorry I hijacked and I will move on from this Topic, except when I have to bump to get my money.

Sorry I won't be seeing you again in the 1250 Auction David

Although when I was married, my wife let me take $10K to "gamble" in the stock market. I turned that $10K to $80K in less than 6 months via CRAZY leverage on internet companies. I had visions of having my house paid off within a year. Scott Trade gave me 4X leverage and I always had the $250K - $300K in play.....and then in a span of two days, I got a margin call. I not only LOST all of the $80K, I owed another $2,600. ...
fell for the old 'fake orange crop report' eh?

$9,400 seems just about right for you, you do this for a living this is your life.I work a regular job and have not nearly the time to spend on it like you and I have already sunk over $6,000 into this year with possibly more to come.

Good luck David! Looks like you are in for a pretty cool year. Keep us posted periodically if you don't mind.

Yes almost all of the FFPC and WCOFF events are Thursday after the game or Friday and Saturday - but being in Las Vegas on opening weekend of the NFL with the events, parties, other Vegas partyfare, and watching the first games on Sunday morning with fellow drafters is PRICELESS!
