I am in a 10 team redraft (tried to get the guys to go dynasty or keeper to no avail).
My scoring system is High Performance. 6 pt for passing, rushing and recieving TD's with bonuses for long TD's and TD's scored out of position like QB rushing TD's and RB recieving TD's etc. We get 1 point per 25 yds passing and 1 pt per 10 yards rushing and recieving.....and TE's get 1 pt for every 5 yds recieving.
This year our league voted to add 1 point per reception for WR's and TE's only. I argued that if our league went to PPR, it should include the RB position too but I was out voted and we stand at 1 PPR for WR and TE. They argued that they wanted to close the gap between the RB and WR/TE positions but I really beilieve that what they have done is shifted the balance of power to the WR/TE positions after the top 8-10 RB's are gone off the board.
I added PPR totals to the WR/TE position to last years totals to see what affect it would have had on my league. It seems I am right. After the top 8 RB's, the top 23 or so WR's and top TE outscored the next 13 RB's!
One more thing about my league. I can start any combination of 6 RB's/WR's each week.
I am drafting in the 6th position out of 10 and am looking at S. Jackson or L. Jordan there. But on the way back I am thinking of grabbing the top WR with my next two picks followed by a top TE before I grab a 2nd RB based on my findings and my leagues unique scoring system.
I am not asking of who to draft....but what position would you draft based on my leagues scoring system. I have always king of been a stud RB purist in the early rounds and then I rely on VBD from then on. So, this strategy is way out of my comfort zone....but I really think it will work in this case. Everyone else will be grabbing RB's, but after the top 8-10......23 WR's would have outscored the next 18-20 RB's.
Is this the year I subscribe to the stud WR strategy?
