I know Lynch to GB makes too much sense for it to really happen, but a possibility?

Im sure the Bills would still be willing to trade Lynch. The Packers, a SB favorite this year are in dire need of a RB, so they might be willing to pay the 3rd round pick the Bills were looking for. With Buffalo in GB this week, maybe the two teams talk?

I think it's highly unlikely they try to get Lynch or McGahee. I don't recall any past teams with Superbowl aspirations, going after a new starting RB when their starter goes down. The Packers were fine with going with Grant, so they are fine with passing being their strong point.

some examples of teams with Superbowl expectations where the RB went down:

2005 Packers: A. Green hurt and Gado & Fisher are used.

2004 Panthers: S. Davis hurt and Goings, Hoover and Foster fill in.

2001 Colts: E. James hurt and D. Rhodes takes over.

1999 Broncos: T. Davis hurt and Olandis Gary steps in.

1999 Falcons: Jamal Anderson hurt and Oxendine and Hanspard carry the load.

And these teams above were more dependent of their backs than the current Packer team is on Grant. Superbowl caliber teams trust their backups to carry the load when a starter goes down, even though all these teams didn't do well without their stud RB. But Grant wasn't relied on to be as big a part of the offense as the backs mentioned above.

People forget that the GB coaching staff was pumping up Jackson's improved work ethic and conditioning this offseason.I agree with you, I don't see any trade unless Jackson proves to be ineffective after a few weeks.

Thompson isn't going after any costly rb during the season. No way he goes after any rb who would cost more then a 5th round pick.

As shocked as many might be, gb is fine with jackson and he's had the stranglehold on the backup job for a reason.

Gb went into the season with just grant and jackson because they are confident in both. Now that grant is out it's jacksons job like it or not.

Name me the last time thompson traded away a significant draft pick during the season to upgrade any position due to an injury?Since he has been there the packers have had injuries at most positions during the year that hampered them a lot more then grant being out, and yet thompsons strategy isn't to run out and try to trade high draft picks away to fill them in.

They're not putting all their eggs in the Brandon Jackson basket. They already signed a new RB from Atlanta.

Lynch would be a reasonable option, but his price would eliminate him. Buff has too high regard for his talent for GB to pay their price. GB would rather take a flier RB off a practice squad or a 3rd or 4th guy on depth chart from another team willing to part with them for a reasonable price (5th or 6th round pick).

Some names I would consider a reasonable "reach"

Lance Ball Denver - with Maroney now in town, Ball is expendable

Lex Hilliard Miami - showed skill when Ronnie went down last year

Kregg Lumpkin TB- he knows the GB offense.....

Quinton Gather Sea - cheap option

I believe Lance Ball will be in Green after Saturday!

This doesn't make any sense, lol. This is not a matter of opinion. Cherry pie vs Applie pie, Obama vs Mccain, the most beautiful flower, the luckiest number, etc etc etc. These are topics where opinions are relevant. Attempting to tell the future injury record of an NFL player is not a matter of opinion. It is a guess, a prognostication most likely based on nothing.

Now if you have evidence of an injury history out of the norm for NFL running backs and then attempted to make an educated guess on the PROBABILITY of something occuring...well, that still wouldn't be a matter of opinion, it would still be a guess, but at least it would be an educated guess as opposed to just a nonsensicle post

My guess is they figured they would make it to week six without a big issue at RB so then they could add depth with James Starks. #### obviously has changed. BJack/Kuhn is a temporary solution but most likely not a 16 week answer. I don't think they are going to give up the house to bring a guy in but I bet they reopen talks on Marshawn (a guy they targeted in the off season ... but hey they were completely comfortable with their situation right? so why would they try to get a guy like Lynch?)EDIT: also, they kicked around the idea of bringing in BWestbrook

I'm sure they'll get a guy in case something happens to Jackson. In fact, they already got a guy in case something happens to Jackson. They signed him off of Atlanta's practice squad.Grant got hurt. It's not like this was some unimaginable possibility. Did Packers brass go into the season saying "Hey, we've got two perfectly capable backs on the roster, but let's just cut them both and then if one of our two remaining backs gets hurt, we'll trade a THIRD ROUNDER to acquire Marshawn Lynch"? That's crazy talk. A third rounder is a major, major asset. They wouldn't trade a major asset like that for a backup. Not after already cutting two perfectly good backups.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Packers were flirting with some retreads on the street (Samkon Gado, anyone?). I wouldn't be at all surprised if they were considering the possibility of sending a 7th rounder to Tampa for Lumpkin. I would be shocked if they were considering paying a 3rd rounder for Marshawn Lynch.

And now a team who was only wanting to have Grant and Jackson on the roster, would have Lynch, Jackson and Nance on the roster for at least 2 weeks (taking this week off of Nance's required 2 weeks).
