Name the last player that succeeded that was drafted (1 Viewer)

JAA

Name the last player that was successful in the position CHenry is being put into. CHenry is a college back with little to none playing time that was drafted behind an underperforming young back. He also has to beat out an unwanted veteran.

Name a RB that has succeeded in this situation

Fast Willie Parker went from undrafted a couple of years ago to starting RB for Pittsburgh about a month into the season.

FWP was never drafted so that excludes him.

Mike Bell had a good college career so that excludes him.

Addai had a good college career also, and didn't have to beat out both a young underachieving back and an unwanted veteran. So he's out.

And Gore only had to beat out Barlow, so he doesn't fit all the criteria JAA proposed, either.

Gore had to beat out all the RBs in camp...just like Maurice Clarett on day one.
LOL, Gore also had extensive playing time in college the few years he was healthy.
You sure about that?Chris Henry had 199 carries, Gore had 151.
I stand corrected. Still, Gore doesn't fit all the criteria.

1. college back - check, U of Miami2. with little to none playing time - check, fewer carries than Henry

3. that was drafted behind an underperforming young back - check, Barlow

4. beat out an unwanted veteran - check, Hetherington had 8-9 yr experience and played on 4 other NFL teams prior to SF

5. drafted - check

6. successful - check

Seems to meet all 6 criteria. May not be the angle JAA was shooting for, but technically it's a fit.

Name a RB who failed in this situation.
Trung CanidateHe could not beat out the young, under achieving RB (Lamar Gordon), nor could he beat out the person he was brought in to eventually replace (Marshall Faulk). I've always said, I liked Chris Henry better when he was called Trung Canidate.

What? I thought you were joking. Hetherington was a full back, man.

pro football reference has him listed as a RB. Regardless, calling Brown a "veteran" pretty much means any rostered rb with a few carries of a couple of years fits the bill.Interested in seeing where JAA is headed and how it relates to Big East football.

Depending on what you label as "successful", how about MJD? He never had more than 200 carries in a season in college. He came in with Fred Taylor and Greg Jones on the roster and put up almost 1,400 combined yards and 15 TD's. That's pretty recent? I'm not a Chris Henry fan, I just read this and thought about MJD being in a very similar position.

Drew was a stud though. He had a 330 yard five td game as a sophomore.

Hey guys, can anyone name an RB named Chris who was drafted with the 50th pick of the draft and went to a team east of the Mississippi and further north than the college that he attended, and the team that he went to already had a 230 pound sophomore RB who had been part of a famous platoon in college and a CB who was notorious for off-the-field behavior, and then the rookie managed to rush for more then 500 yards in his career?

Hey JAA, allow me to introduce you to a neat little concept I like to call "sample size". In the meantime, if you have a point, I'd really recommend getting to it.

 JAA, are you actually going somewhere with this?

Henry was suspended a couple of games last year, and the Arizona O line is really bad. With Tuitama injured almost the whole year, it was tough sledding for any Arizona RB.
