A lot of love here for Willie Stargell and other 1979 Pirates. I don't know if you guys know it or not but there is a 7-disc DVD set containing the full '79 World Series out now.

And you can get it cheap at Deep Discount DVD (using DVDTALK promo code) for $33.57 with free shipping (for reference it is $63 at Amazon). Sale is good until tomorrow.

I met Rummenigge a year before he left Bayern for Inter. My team was invited to attend one of their training sessions when we were in Munich for a tournament. He was pretty impressive.

Baseball: Willie Mays- even though it was the end of his career.

Football: Jim Plunkett- the face only two blind parents could love. I'll add Fred Belitnikoff and Dave Caspar (sp on both?).

Basketball: Rick Barry- saw him score 55 for the Warriors, back when the Warriors were good.

Soccer: Bruno Conti- saw him play a couple times on a trip to Italy- and I thought he was god.
