Nate Burleson done for the season (1 Viewer)

Aaaarrrrgh. I drafted him in all but 1 of my leagues this year. Including all the Footballguys.com Staff leagues...

Can we expect Jordan Kent to step into a starter's role now?
No. Kent is a project. He's a speed guy. He didn't even play high school football and only played 2 years of college football. He was a champion sprinter in college and also played on the basketball team (his dad is Oregon Ducks basketball coach Ernie Kent). He's still learning the game.
I don't know how you can say no. The cupboard is bare. It's him or Payne by default until Branch gets back or they sign a free agent.
Yes the cupboard is bare. But Kent simply isn't ready. He barely made the team. The first time he ever played football was 2005.

The question isn't whether he's ready. The question is whether he steps into the starter's role. By default, the answer is yes.

he did get 5 targets yesterday, and if I remember right, 3 of them were in the end zone, so the QBs (both Hass & Frye in the preseason) are looking his way. He's the big, tall, fast upside-player. However, he didn't show the most aggressiveness going for those balls, moderate ups and w/ zero catches i'd venture to say less-than-average hands. In his defense, Buffalo was in pass coverage, 100%.

I targeted Burleson in nearly every league. Luckily I only have him in the 35k contest. Branch and Engram will be the kingpins of this offense - once they are healthy.

Who will come in for a workout?

Chad Jackson?

Ashley Lelie?

All the healthy WR's are projects.

Holmgren did mention during his PC something about perhaps looking at guys from the outside that had experience in the system. (Dunno who's out there & qualifies under that)

Carlson looks like their best healthy receiver.

That sucks. Hasselbeck can work with the current group of he's right but with the group changing so drastically and him being hurt himself, it's gonna be a rough start. Hopefully they can get the running game going next week and Hasselbeck looks better than he did yesterday. Can't wait for Engram to get back.

One name that just popped into my head:Robert FergusonVeteran WR. Doesn't have much of a role on the Vikes. Not a great player, but capable of filling in.

So is Engram or Branch the shark move here....if you can afford to wait a few weeks?

Engram had a decent year last year...but Branch played OK when healthy. Rankings and Projections have them close prior to the Burleson injury.

Engram in a PPR.

Well #### me. I have (had) Brady and Burleson in my big money league. Stick a fork in me, I'm done.

What system? Just the Seahawks? Does Green Bay still run a similar system?Recent Seahawk WRs:Skyler Fulton (2006)Alex Bannister (2005)Tony Brown (2005)Maurice Mann (2005)Peter Warrick (2005)Jerry Rice (2004)Koren Robinson (2004)Taco Wallace (2004)Jason Willis (2004)Jon Pendergrass (2003)

So as an owner with no injuries currently on my roster, do you guys think it would be a smart move to get Branch off waivers and put him on my IR? Or would picking up Matt Jones (also WW) be a better bet long term? Keep in mind this is in light of the Burleson injury (and in the interest of not creating yet another thread).

I wasn't paying too close attention -- whether he meant a former Seahawk/Packer (I was assuming Seahawk but who knows). He also mentioned Mankus (?) [might not even be the correct last name -- sounded like he was currently on the PS]. When I get the chance, I'll look up the correct last name (if that's not it)-------Edit: I was off a little on the last name. It was Michael Bumpus Holmgren mentioned.

I've never been high on Matt Jones (pun intended) but if he's healthy and starting then I'd rather have him than Branch. Seems to me that Branch just can't stay healthy.

After tonight, Darrel Jackson goes back to being depth.

Any bad blood there from his trade to San Fran?

Not so much bad blood as it was recognized that he was worthless. The Seahawks got a fourth round pick they used on Mansfield Wrotto. They got the better end of the deal.

So who is everyone targeting off the WW for a replacement?

Thinking Matt Jones or Antwan Randel El right now.

Brady=CakeBurleson=IcingThank god I drafted tons of depth...
:lmao: Me too. My team looked rock solid to start. My only hole was WR3, where I had Burelson plugged in and I was going to grab Engram/Branch when healthy (small rosters). I knew Burelson would put up good numbers as the only thing there for now and of course he did and then is gone. Oh well, here's to some good waiver wire pickups.

Good call. Was just thinking the same thing as Royal lights things up. Darrell Jackson & Koren Robinson (is he employed?) reunion. :hophead:

Lelie is in uniform and caught a pass for the Raiders tonite, take him off the list. at least for tonite.

if they don't give Terry Glenn a look:

a) they're nuts

or

b) his knee is really done.

Lots of talk about Koren Robinson on local radio.
You know it could be a good fit. If nothing else he at least can help teach the youngsters the system, and he can return kicks. Won't cost much and isn't any worse than those out on the field. If he's good with his sobriety, and I've heard nothing to suggest he isn't (of course he hasn't been newsworthy for awhile) then he's a better choice than anyone else I can think of. In general I would hate the idea, but for right now there are just no choices whatsoever. Even Koro didn't have any games as bad as Taylor. This wouldn't be a Chris Henry type of situation , KR's transgressions are a bit different in nature and he's also done his pennance and changed his life around. Worse thing is he gets cut after a few weeks, upside is a possibly solid speedy WR/returner that helps out a team with it's top 4 WRs injured.

If he's in game shape, he could be a decent stop-gap until Engram and Branch return. Apparently, the guy's turned his life around to the point that the NFL has him lecturing to incoming rookies about lifestyle and the mistakes he made.I'm more afraid that with no decent running game to keep teams honest and no receivers worthy of a double-team, defenses are going to be constantly bringing everyone--and Hasselbeck's back is only going to take so many hits. I think they should consider starting Frye until after the bye week to let everyone get healthy.

Our run game was already bad, now everyone can just bring the house every play with no worries. Wasn't this an issue this offseason. It's like the team just closed it's eyes and hoped for the best. :X

If they can't/won't get Robinson, I'd roll the dice with promoting Bumpus - unless I can find a heavily modified DeLorean - then I go get Largent.

Seneca needs to become a WR starting next game - he might actually be one of their better options.

another over-hyped guy bites the dust..

Hasselbeck is going to LOVE Engram once he comes back...could be a top 5 WR from that point forward..
