Wait, so 24 will draft now and the expectation is that all 24 will pay $9.95 at the end of the season? I have a feeling that several of the teams with disappointing drafts won't want to pay.I have a few questions that don't seem to be answered on the site:1. What stats are used in the simulation? Or, if it's easier, what stats aren't?2. How is defense measured?3. Does being injury prone effect things? (Assuming the player makes the 200 minute threshhold.)4. Can you play a player outside of his usual position? We won't need to join until the end of the basketball season. Good question.I can set us up a roto league to track our rosters/players and I'll need emails for that to invite everyone. So will we need to actually join WIS for this? If so, what product? I see a SIM league basketball for $9.95. What is the $15 thing we're talking about??
Last 5 spots are for drafting the dancing girls squad.According to a WIS thread someone posted in here, you are penalized for playing a player out of his WIS designated position.
I was looking over the OP again and wondered - why would we have a 20 round draft for a 15 man roster?![]()

1. Usage (as mentioned previously in the thread) is one. FG%, FT%, 3PT% are important. Assists improve your team's FG%. Steals, blocks, rebounds and turnovers work about how you would expect.2. Each player has a defensive rating on a 100-point scale. It affects the FG% of the player he's guarding. It's based on some sort of really inaccurate statistical metric. The most notable example is that Troy Murphy got a 96 one year. 3. Each player will be limited to approximately the minutes he played in the regular season. Play him more than that and he'll fatigue and be useless. I think if you play him way too much the game might even injure him, but not sure. I don't think there's any injury proneness rating or random serious injuries. The risk in this format will just be that your player gets hurt in real life.4. WIS gives a percentage effectiveness rating for each position. Every player will be 100% in at least one position and many will be 100% in 2 or 3. The lowest it goes is 60% - e.g. Dwight Howard will be 60% at point guard and Chris Paul will be 60% at center.Wait, so 24 will draft now and the expectation is that all 24 will pay $9.95 at the end of the season? Good question. Dudes get hurt and don't pan out and stuff. The extra rounds are to ensure (hopefully) that you're able to fill a full roster for the simulation. You never know. Sherron Collins could be your workhorse. For example, when we do this for baseball we draft 35-40 rounds to fill a 25 man roster.According to a WIS thread someone posted in here, you are penalized for playing a player out of his WIS designated position.I was looking over the OP again and wondered - why would we have a 20 round draft for a 15 man roster?![]()

AZ Ron pulls a 4 out to nab the #1 pick with the last roll. Amazing.I'll start up a google doc with the draft order tonight and put it in the first post.I'd like to hear a few more thoughts on:A) Swapping in the 5th round so those at the end of the first get a little bump since they missed out on the elite BALLERS.B) Clock. I'm thinking maybe 4 hours for the first round and see how that goes. I don't want to #####foot around too much. People have smart phones, gd it. 20 rounds might be excessive. Hard to say since we haven't done it.Of course I thought 45 rounds was excessive for baseball and yet people were snagging useful guys in rounds 41-45.We can decide on the fly like we did in baseball here too. Yeah. No weekend clock anyway, so one full free day is no biggie.Arizona Ron is on the clock then, can draft whenever (i.e. NOW!).Clock doesn't start til Monday?
Let's say Derrick Rose misses two-thirds of the season with his knee injury but comes back for the last third playing heavy minutes with MVP stats. You would have to limit him to, like, 12 minutes a game so he wouldn't get fatigued, right?3. Each player will be limited to approximately the minutes he played in the regular season. Yeah. You could play him 82 games at 12 minutes per game, or sit him for the first 2/3 of the season and then play him 36 minutes a game for the last third. But if you just started playing him 36 minutes a game at the beginning of the season, he'll fatigue very quickly.Should also point out that there's about 10% flexibility in minutes. So if Rose plays 1000 minutes in real life, you could probably squeeze 1100 out of him in the sim without huge fatigue issues.Let's say Derrick Rose misses two-thirds of the season with his knee injury but comes back for the last third playing heavy minutes with MVP stats. I believe you could also play him 36 minutes, then sit him 2 games, then play 36 minutes, then sit 2 games, etc.Yeah. He back with the Wizards?1.0. M. Jordan
Great pick if you have a time machine. This is picking players for this upcoming season. Who do you think will be the best player in 12-13? Pick them.1.0. M. Jordan
I thought it was historical stats? What I miss?He back with the Wizards?1.0. M. Jordan
Yeah, that would work too. You just have to stay at a pace where he's never averaging much more than 12 minutes per game.I believe you could also play him 36 minutes, then sit him 2 games, then play 36 minutes, then sit 2 games, etc.Yeah. 20 rounds is ok since there are only 24 teams here vs 30 NBA teams basically rounds 1-10 will be the Top 8 players of NBA teams. The final rounds will be for depth on case of injuries.20 rounds might be excessive. If you would, could you back this thing up from time to time on your computer or some ####? In the league that No 16 raped all of our spreadsheets are messed up.Google Doc

I think he's hoping to trade back into the bottom of rd 1 for Beasley...Really?1.03 - "Team Ramrod" chooses - Kevin Love - PF/C - Minnesota Whiteguys
Sure. I didn't read the scoring rules so if there is some strange wrinkle where rebounds and points aren't worth much or we don't start forwards than I guess its a bad pick. But it was either him or CP3.Really?1.03 - "Team Ramrod" chooses - Kevin Love - PF/C - Minnesota Whiteguys
I'm just surprised because neither guy you mentioned strikes me as at all close to the third best player in basketball. But what do I know? People keep bringing up my 2nd round choice of Beasley last year, as well they should. More power to you.Sure.
