NCAA HOOPS THREAD! -- K petitions to get Maui Jim Maui Invitational moved to Transylvania (3 Viewers)

Who is worse?

Rumor is this is the same woman from the Bragg incident in December.
It's even worse.  the woman's car was vandalized outside the Yacht Club bar on Wisconsin St back in December.  Jackson and Vick are persons of interest in the investigation.  Damage to the car was close to three racks, enough damage to classify the crime as a felony.

Article also hints Bragg's suspension is marijuana-related.  Bragg was charged in court with bong possession, but pleaded it out on Wednesday.

At this rate, Tyler Self will be starting by March.

Does Self get any blow back from having so many players in trouble so much of the year? Hard to imagine anything significant with all of the success this year and the last decade.

Although I've never been to Rupp this is undoubtedly my all time favorite memory from that arena.

I believe this was Kentucky's 1st loss on Senior Day in 39 or 40 years.

Purdue player almost blew their win against MD because he just started walking down the court with the ball after he intercepted what should have been MD's last pass.

I was at that game.  Tickets very near the top of the upper arena student section they did back then.

I cussed those SC guards the entire game.  If I remember correctly, they had done away with the closely guarded 5 second rule and those guards just held the ball the entire shot clock, then broke somebody down off the dribble.  We couldn't stop it.

Of course if Derek Anderson hadn't hurt his knee earlier in the year, it would have been a blowout, but...

I was at the game that year in Columbia played in the retired Carolina Colesium. We overcame a 7 point deficit in the final 2 minutes to win it in OT, which at the time clinched a share of the SEC.

Ironically, they are honoring that team this weekend being the 20th anniversary of their only SEC title.

Obviously I will disagree with this. I believe Kentucky had 6 or 7 1st round draft picks on this squad to Carolina's one 2nd round draft pick. Surely 1 guy wouldn't make that much difference with all of that talent. Either way it was 20 years ago.

My Gamecocks pulled out a close one vs UGA today. It was an all around team effort except from the foul line. Man UGA has lost some tough games this year.

Oh yeah. this man was in attendance today.

I doubt he comes to Carolina but he was there today as part of a rockin sold out CLA.
From what I hear he is probably Duke bound.

Nope, that was the 96 national championship team.  This team had Ron Mercer, Derek Anderson, and a bunch of dudes.  Well they had Nazr Mohammad and Jamal Magloire inside, but both were raw at that time.   Anderson was a total stud -- averaged almost 18 a game and an elite defender.  He was drafted #13 just a few months after tearing an ACL.

In any case that was a great SC team and one of the more shocking NCAA upsets when they got beat.

As if this OSU/WVU game wasn't good enough, I got to see Bob Huggins' fat *** hit the floor.

Also that dunk earlier by Davon Dillard was pretty special.

And for now anyway the Gamecocks will take sole possession of 1st place in the SEC.  Man that trip to Gainesville in a couple of weeks is gonna be tough.

Self is pretty good at making stories disappear.  Not as good as Krzyzewski making that Sulaimon thing turn into vapor, but pretty good.

Who would you guys peg as the favorite to win the NCAAT if it started today?
Nova is the best team I've seen this season.  I want to believe in Gonzaga, but I think Nova beats them on a neutral court.

Haven't heard much about Louisville as a national title threat. IMO they are the best team in the ACC.

I have the same problem with Louisville I do with UVA (& w/Maryland, though they are a level below) - every damned game is a war and one hot opponent can take them out.

I like Nova, too. And I think Gonzaga is the real deal this year.

But I have an awful feeling that UNC may be the one

Totally unscientific and there are exceptions, but I like teams that play up-tempo and O-Reb well (not to mention just being really good in the first place, of course), which bodes well for UNC and WVU.

Also remember that I'm dumb.

Thornwell for SC with like 53 minutes played as we go to the 4th OT.
That game last night wore me out and I was only watching on TV. I may have had to go to the hospital if I was at the CLA. Thornwell pretty much singlehandedly brought the Gamecocks back from a 16 point halftime deficit. He didn't get much help until late in regulation. If he doesn't win SEC player of the year it will be a travesty. I know one of the media darlings from Kentucky will probably win it but that will be a damn shame.

I gotta give Alabama credit. They were relentless last night. Avery Johnson Jr. was the man in regulation.

Coach takes the blame for the loss

My team (GW) is out of it, but just lost to VCU after hitting a 3 pointer with 0.4 seconds left because our scrub tall guy was brought into the game to defend the inbounds pass and promptly committed a foul from 94 feet away.

VCU's second saved win in a row.

Glad GW fired its successful coach coming off an NIT championship for this.

ETA: And in other A-10 news, St. Louis's bus driver (and bus) are AWOL in Olean, NY.

What's the rule if the player actually is standing with one foot out of bounds? Because he clearly was.

It's almost criminal how many calls VCU gets considering they've been in the A-10 less than a decade. Of course, they always would get boat-raced in the NCAAs once they got a crew that called "havoc" tightly.

Sure, what's a little abuse against kids when you can compare it to the grandeur of the NIT?

It's a fine line between saying tough things to players to motivate them to work harder/play better and emotional abuse. The worst thing that I think came out was suggesting a player would be better in a transgender league; which is not good, but I don't think necessitates an automatic firing.  But we could disagree there.

I think what got him canned was the stuff that he was saying about the AD behind his back, which are stupid things to say about your boss.

I posted this in the ACC thread, damn I feel dirty now, but this is an amazing stat(s) right here.

Heard on the radio yesterday that the last 96 games in the UNC-Duke series each team has 48 wins. In those 96 games each team has scored exactly 7437 points.

Wow.

Wow, I just saw the highlights of the end of this game.  Amazingingly stupid defense by GW, my condolences.
