Just ran the numbers. Here are WSU's odds of getting to the F4 from the 4 regions assuming chalk holds according to KenPom:

MW - 21%

South 29%

East - 31%

West - 31%

So it is certainly harder, which I don't think many disagree with. But is 10% that large? Most of it is attributed to, as you guessed it, Louisville. If Wichita State was in any other bracket and Louisville was their #4 seed, you'd get:

South - 20%

West - 20%

East 22%

Then, this also brings into question how valid KenPom's numbers are. Many think that Louisville is overrated according to KenPom so if you subscribe to that, then Wichita State's bracket isn't as hard as the numbers claim.

I was talking about Jan-Feb but that's fine.

Before the tourney they were 14-7 dating back to the turn of the new year. Sure 3 of those losses were to Florida, but those 14 wins weren't filled up with many good teams either.
