Alas poor Rick! I knew him, Horatio, a fellow of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy suits. And now it almost certainly will end in a fall of Shakespearian dimension.

I thought shoe companies were also paying to get kids routed to their schools? In the end who is getting "hurt" here - someone gets a inside advantage to become a financial advisor?
Of all the scamming, this is low on the ladder.Because financial advisers have systemically (maybe too strong a word, but there's a lot of it) scamming professional athletes. They started these investigations in 2015.
FWIW, this looks like the guy working with the FBI. He sold his other firm to Sood.

Which is why most are speculating this is the opening salvo. The FBI started investigating this stuff in 2015 and I'm sure will be trying to roll Gatto, Code, Sood, Dawkins, and to a lesser extent some of these coaches. Gatto, if he rolls, is sure to bring a whole lot more down as well (and if the indictment is any indication, they already have a wiretap on his phone).Of all the scamming, this is low on the ladder.
I wouldn't have even have thought about it I had watched that live instead seeing "15 seconds for Rick Pitino" over and over.Bob Ley off the top rope (I assume unintentionally but still amazing)
Like I said above, because a whole bunch of "financial advisers" have been stealing athlete's money and the NBAPA and NFLPA requested them their help. This is an outgrowth of one of those cases.Still trying to wrap my head around this. Why is the FBI doing the NCAA's dirty work here?

I don't think it is stealing money, I think it is providing them with more money sooner than they should be able to do so, as well as using the schools staff to funnel athletes toward agents, planners and Addidas. At least that is what I understood when I heard it this morning. I was listening to DP and he had a lawyer that was reading from the subpoena (I think).Like I said above, because a whole bunch of "financial advisers" have been stealing athlete's money and the NBAPA and NFLPA requested them their help. Having said that, they now have a clear shot at Adidas, as well.
"First off, how are large horizontal stripes on you?"I think Yandek landed an exclusive Pitino interview.
And from the FBI point of view, these coaches are getting cash kickbacks that I assume they are not listing on their tax return.I don't think it is stealing money, I think it is providing them with more money sooner than they should be able to do so, as well as using the schools staff to funnel athletes toward agents, planners and Addidas. It's times like these I wish I could do those putting on sunglasses Caruso shtick memes.Still cracking up over that hot take FBI reading.

I am not being clear. The FBI/SEC have been investigating a number of financial advisers for Ponzi schemes and otherwise stealing athlete's money. This was going on anyway.I don't think it is stealing money, I think it is providing them with more money sooner than they should be able to do so, as well as using the schools staff to funnel athletes toward agents, planners and Addidas. Gotcha, I didn't read the whole thread either. It is interesting that they are not trying to take money from them, just wanting to make sure they would become their clients so they could reap $$$ off of them later!I am not being clear. These indictments are an outgrowth of that. Blazer (who is CW-1) was indicted in 2015 for running a Ponzi scheme and has been working with the FBI since. Blazer has been in cahoots with Soon who was indicted today since 2011.
Not the best place to be a diaper dandySomething something Dickie V, something something Dickie V in prison.
Depends on the end game here. I could see them letting the kids off crimes (tax evasion?) if they talk and give up the information the FBI is after. I'm sure people going to be talking here real soon.Black Tuesday
The amount of fall out from this is going to be huge! Coaches can be fired, schools put on suspension, loss of scholarships. But, can the players do jail time for taking money, shoes, poonany? I will never blame the players. Get some money for my family, and for myself is never a bad thing. Everyone is making money of these 1 and done kids.
I dunno man, it looks pretty bad atm.Depends on the end game here. I could see them letting the kids off crimes (tax evasion?) if they talk and give up the information the FBI is after. I'm sure people going to be talking here real soon.
No way Pitino survives this after the hooker scandal, right?
I am not sure Louisville survives this - let alone Pitino. No way Pitino survives this after the hooker scandal, right?
Come on man, they made the second round of the NCAA last year. I also have season tix this year so really hoping they are decent this season.URI, crap! Oh wait, we suxor. Whew!
Because when the FBI and prison time gets involved, wearing the 3 stripes takes on an entirely different meaning.Good Posting Judge said:"Today, the FBI is "blocking out" several of these coaches from grabbing the rebound of greed."
Hey Tobias of TMB I think we just internet scissored. If this is not Tobias from TMB I am sorry we did not scissor.TobiasFunke said:Bob Ley off the top rope (I assume unintentionally but still amazing)
