Need opinion on trade that just happened in my league (1 Viewer)

I am posting what just went down in my league. It is a free league and it will be the last time ever! I want to post the trade and the discussions and I want u guys to give your opinion so I can post a link to this thread in our league.

Team A traded

Jhonny Peralta (Cle - SS)

Xavier Nady (NYY - OF)

Melvin Mora (Bal - 3B)

Ramón Hernández (Cin - C)

Team B traded

Matt Wieters (Bal - C)

Brandon Phillips (Cin - 2B)

Grady Sizemore (Cle - OF)

Cristian Guzmán (Was - SS)

I protested this trade b/c it was a 1st,3rd,11th, and a FA for a 12th,15th, 18th and a FA.

The commish is the team that is getting Sizemore and Phillips and his brother is the other team.



Here was the response from the brother!

I needed a catcher. I drafted Matt Weiters. He's not even playing. Daniel had one. I had 2 second basemen on my bench, so I figured I could use an upgrade over Miguel Tejada at SS. Brandon Phillips actually had worse numbers than Johnny Peralta last year. To make up for it I told Daniel to throw in Xavier Nady for Grady Sizemore, because he had better numbers. Ramon Hernandez is my catcher for now, and Melvin Mora can play my bench or my utility. I threw in Christian Guzman just to make it an equal trade because I've offered trades that yahoo rejected or didn't let go through because it gave a manager too many players before.

I have talked with my brother, and what I will do is offer Grady Sizemore for Xavier Nady regardless of the vote here. That's all. The rest of the trade stands.

I am a pretty fair and reasonable guy. I'm open to suggestions. There are rules in place for these situations, and I believe if you don't vote that counts as a yes vote. Please don't cry anymore if something happens and you don't like it. This is the only time I will do something like this because I want to enjoy the league with 12 people. I had just as much fun last year with 6.

If you want to make this a money league I don't have a problem with it. Does anybody else?

I can see how the trade can seem a little biased, but at the same time, that's why there is a 2 day trade clause and people can vote on it.

Can somebody post on here their opinion on the trade and if it should go through?

It is a free league - and unfortunately this kind of thing tends to happen in free leagues. I have been in that situation before and I did the best I could with the deck stacked against me. If it gets too ridiculous, just quit managing the team. It's free.

Now if this kind of thing went down in a league I had money invested in or among people I thought were friends, i'd raise a stink about it. Free league - just call them on it and let it go.

Also that trade is rdiculous.

Peralta is the only valuable player on one side of the deal.

On the other side, Sizemore might be the best roto OF, Phillips is among the best roto 2B, and Wieters is the next big thing at C.

Guzman and Mora are a push as they both suck.

I'm almost never in favor of protesting trades, but that's obvious collusion and a really bad attempt to rationalize it.

To make up for it I told Daniel to throw in Xavier Nady for Grady Sizemore, because he had better numbers.

Hey, why not just throw in my first-round pick for a journeyman for the hell of it?Probably not worth your time to even bother with that league anymore.

I normally think pretty much all trades should go through.

However, this trade can't be allowed. Obviously, it's a horrible trade, but the real issue is that these are brothers.

If this guy remains the commish, I certainly wouldn't play in the league next season. Any commish with an ounce of integrity won't allow themselves come close to ripping a team off this bad. This guy just doesn't sound like someone I'd want to be the commish.

He said he would put the Nady for Sizemore trade up to a vote....it went through.
