C GOMES

1B GOLDSCHMIDT

2B KINSLER

SS PERALTA

3B LONGORIA

OF PRADO

OF EATON

OF MARKAKIS

U TEIXERA

SP CHRIS SALE

SP ANIBAL SANCHEZ

SP WEAVER

SP COLON

SP SYNDERGAARD

RP MUJICA

So i had the stats of the overall champ last year to compare/use as a benchmark. I used standard projections for my squad and its crazy but they came out fairly close to the 2013 champ. At least in the same ballpark. Anyway, offensively im very pleased. Should be above avg in most of the catergories. Maybe a tad light in power. I took Teixera late just for that purpose (hoping he can hit 25+). AVG/RUNS/SB all plus catergories from what i see. HR above avg and RBI's look middle of the pack.

Pitching: Think i assembled a quality staff given i didnt select my 1st starter till rd 4 (Sale). Think i have 6 solid SP's to throw out every week. Chacin should be out a month only while i really like Syndergaard to come up and make a splash. Colon was just a guy. But heck if he comes even close to last years' #'s, its a steal.

RP: This is the glaring weakness. I knew from my research that closers fly but even so, was not prepared to see just how fast they went. Before i blinked, im staring at guys like Papelbon/Axford/Jim Henderson ugh. So i passed on those guys and apparently that was a mistake. Im going to need to bid big on any FA closer that comes out of nowhere. I did insure Koji with Mujica but Soriano is dicey. Hoover = roll of the dice. If he can close games until Chapman is back, i'd be giddy.

Thoughts??? Am i crazy for really liking this team?

I apparently reached badly for Springer looking at the NFBC adp. Took him Rd 15 (172 overall), his ADP is 226. But heck I really wanted him, think he could be up May 1.

Is this the Rotowire online $350 entry 12 team contest?

I entered 3 teams in that one and am doing well so far. It was also my first time.

I see some bright spots on your team, how are you doing so far?

You have probably made some waiver claims at this point, what does your team look like now?

Here's my comments on your draft:

- I don't see much value in rostering a third catcher. Your top two are fine and if you run into injuries just pick one up on waivers.

- You should have picked up a better third closer but its not really that bad as long as Soriano and Uehara maintain their role. My theory is to only start two closers and seven starters, it should increase your wins and K's and you should still finish mid-pack in saves. Makes your ratios fluctuate a bit but ride the roller coaster.

- Springer came up way earlier than I thought he would and he should be great for you but I think you are wasting too many bench spots on guys that can't help you now.

- I like to roster more SP's that are pitching now. It turns out to more 2-starts and in theory once again increases your Wins and K's.

That's all I have for now. Good luck!

Thanks for responding!

I'm currently in 1st place. Been there for about a week now, was toggling between 1st/2nd until then. My offense started off in beast mode. Before this week started, was hitting .286 ish as a group which is pretty awesome.

I'm carrying Darnaud , frankly because his value was too good to pass on in the draft. I want to say rd 22? Plus im not sold on Gomes quite yet, so im comfortable carrying that 3rd catcher as insurance.

As for your closer comment, i nabbed K-Rod for $360+. Looks like that could be a cheap buy at this point.

My other notable waiver wins: Mejia for ~ 70 ish, and Neil Walker last week $116. Have no clue why anyone would drop Walker in a 23 man starting roster. Crazy, was stoked to get him

Overall, im down in the W column, middle of pack in K's and im at or near the top in every other catergory. Thinking of just scouring 2-start pitchers to add every week to up the Wins/K total but its a fine line to walk not to jeapordize your whip/era...

Was as high as 40th or so in the overall standings but my lineup took a nosedive this week.

How are your teams faring? And yep the online $350 rotowire champ

I got screwed with Henderson on all 3 teams. I am holding on to him for some reason at this point. Young, Beckett and Solarte are my waiver pickups so far. Dropped Joe Kelly, Junior Lake and Stephen Drew.

That's a pretty sick lineup. The middle infield would scare me tho. Dozier/Alexie/Solarte have all been awesome but i think theyre due to slide and nothing behind them really. But if those 3 guys can be at least serviceable, you will be in contention. If they're great like they have been, well u have something special brewing. Also u need to bid on a 3rd closer. I don't think u can win this thing if you're below avg in any category. The winner last year was awesome across the board. Think he had like 120 saves or right around that #...good luck. What's that team name that's in 7th?

BsBombers1 is the team name. I also have BsBombers2 and BsBombers3.

Hopefully Henderson is my third closer. Doesn't look like too soon but I'm hoping... They should trade him to the Orioles.

My middle infield looked like a weakness at the start but so far it's a strength. I don't know why nobody gave Dozier much credit at draft time, he had 18 HR and 14 SB last year. And Ramirez hit .284 with 30 SB.

What would you do with Dickey and Bucholz?

Dickey is a hold for now. I think he turns it around especially once the weather gets warmer. Buckholtz I'm not a fan of. If your pitching stats are in decent shape I'd hold, but If u need help in some areas, I wouldn't hesitate to drop him. There should be a handful of guys sitting there on your wire that are decent options. I'm with u on Dozier. He's going to hurt the avg, but runs/sb/hrs more then make up for it.

As for Henderson, if there's nothing out there in terms of Saves, u might as well hold onto him. I don't see KRod relinquishing the Job tho barring injury. Also Henderson been better in that 8th inning role. But Look at a Joe Smith on Anaheim. Word is he's taking over. I'd drop a decent amt of coin on him if I'm you. He's decent enough to hold that job. Might have to go 2-300 bucks to lock him up I would think. GL

Joe Smith is definitely on my wish list but who would you drop for him? Hopefully they have no save opportunities over the weekend to keep the price down.

I don't really want to drop Solarte. He has cooled down but he has 2 games at SS so far. If Jeter gets hurt I could see him getting SS eligibility and possibly batting in the two hole.

What's your team name?

Tough call on who to drop. Agree on Solarte. I wouldn't give up on him until he gives you reason to. If you really like Beckett/Bucholtz then I'd drop Henderson. KRod just looks nasty out there. Henderson at the moment holds the same value as any other setup guy out there. Not much.

You get a legit 3rd closer on your team, you're in business.

My team is Gildz Nation. 165th now ugh. Was like 41st I want to say last week. Granted, I have another 4 starts to come this week. sale screwed me. Went from 2 starts to 1 to 0. Be nice if the NFBC had a DL substitution rule. Oh well.

I will see what happens in their starts this weekend.

Losing your ace hurts, especially when there is no news about it until after the deadline. There is a lot of fluctuation based on when you have guys pitching. I still have a bunch of guys to go again this weekend too.

You're in decent shape. Prado is struggling a bit and I don't know what you have with Teixeira but other than that you are solid right thru your hitters. Your top 6 pitchers are solid as well.

Yea Prado has been a disaster, almost deja vu from last year. He was great in the 2nd half, maybe its a trend for him.

Teixera if healthy, i feel confident he can hit 20-25 hr's, maybe 80+ rbi's. With room for more. I'm pretty content though with my offense overall, i need to work on my SP. Do you pick up 2x SP's every week? I feel like ive been rolling with my staff only and thus, im lacking in the W's and K's dept. But im at the top in Whip/ERA. Not sure which route to go but i think i need to add starts in the short term..And i dont want to sit a closer either, so its a balance act for sure..
