Need to keep 8

5x5 H2H. Start: C, 1B, 2B, 3B, SS, 3OF, UTIL, 5SP, 4RP

I've bolded who I'm thinking about keeping right now

Pos - # of starters, Starter, Backup, (Minors)

C - 1, Napoli, RuMarti

1B - 1, Votto, Berkman, Napoli

2B - 1, Weeks, Altuve, Beckham

SS - 1, Rollins, Gordon, Bonifacio

3B - 1, Reynolds, Moustakas, Lawrie

OF - 3, Ellsbury, Quinten, Pence, Beltran, Heyward, Berkman

DH - 1, Berkman

SP - 5, Halladay, Grienke, Kennedy, Daniel Hudson, Collmenter, Cueto, (Teheran)

RP - 4, Melancon, Cordero, Salas, League, Broxton, Padilla

I'm working on trading Heyward for draft picks, so I'm pretty sure I'm not keeping him. Been offered a 2nd round pick (really a 10th after 8 keepers) for Lawrie, but I think I want to hold on to him.

So I'm guessing it boils down to Napoli vs. a 4th starter.

Thoughts?

I think you're keeping too many sp's. If we are talking just straight single year keepers for this year I'd keep:

Napoli

Votto

Weeks

Lawrie

Ellsbury, Pence

Halladay, Grienke

Weeks is borderline for me. Assuming this is a 10-12 team league, there should be plenty of OF's available. Not sure how many years you can keep players either.

Thx. 12 team can keep for unlimited years

Napoli, Votto, Weeks, Lawrie, Ellsbury, Halladay === 6 no brainers

Then you need 2 of Pence, Berkman, Grienke, Hudson, IPK, Heyward

Only starting 1B/DH/3OF, I think you can eliminate Berkman, Pence, Heyward, so I'd keep Hudson and Greinke.

I'd keep Heyward and Weeks and ditch the last 2 starting pitchers.
:goodposting:but probably ditch Pence and Hudson and keep Kennedy.
I'd let Weeks go, 2B is one of the deeper positions. I do like Kennedy over Hudson also, Heyward because you can keep these guys for unlimited years and Heyward will eventually be a superstar. Napoli, Lawrie, Votto, Halladay, Kennedy, Ellsbury, Pence and Heyward IMO.

1st, do not keep more than 2 SP's. Those are Halladay and Greinke, you can build a championship team with those 2. In fact, you won't need to draft another starting arm for at least the first half dozen rounds.

Instead keep Heyward and Weeks. In this shallow of a league Weeks is more valuable because it's easier to replace him.

Thanks for the response. So including the 8 keepers, you wouldn't suggest another SP until the equivalent of round 14?

No, there's enough pitching available late and Halladay + Greinke is strong enough that you don't need another top 30 arm. Get a mix of Beachy, Leubke, Marcum, Floyd, Baker, Billingsley, Dempster, McCarthy, etc. and you'll be good to go.
