Negotiating Cellular Bill (1 Viewer)

Have been a customer of AT&T since the '90s.   I am on the very old grandfathered unlimited data plan.  Also, a customer of Directv since the last '90s and remember when they were not connected to each other.  Calling today to ask about my bill since a co-worker switched to Verizon and saved around 100 bucks a month (4 phones) and got some nice little gifts as well.   Have any of you high rollers ever negotiated your cellular bill?  Maybe this will be like the Directv negotiations?

I'm in the process of tackling this and also my cable bill.

It's time for the annual "quit raising my bill $5 every month for no reason" chat and negotiation.

Was able to get my Directv bill down again to 44.79.  That is with every premium channel, NFL Sunday Ticket, and movie channel.

The phone bill is what it is and ATT said that we are in a "grandfathered" plan and no discounts at this time.   "If we were to switch to a new plan our bill would actually go up!"   We have 5 phones with unlimited data and my teens burn through data.  Constantly watching Netflix, youtube, and probably pron.    So we have to have unlimited data.     Called Verizon and it would be roughly the same price with all discounts but would have the hassle of switching over to a new company.

So I saved 25 dollars a month cell bill - Autopay 15 bucks, plus a loyalty discount of 10 bucks

Saved another 15 dollars a month from Directv bill.   12-month discount "loyalty" I guess?

I have been with ATT since 1998 and Directv since 1998        and I keep thinking that new customers are getting all the great deals while I have to play a song and dance to get my bill lowered.

I switched to Xfinity Mobile. If it's available in your area, might want to check into it. $45 per month per line for unlimited. And if you don't use much data, it's $12 per month per line per Gig of data (and if you use more than 4GB, they bump you to unlimited for the $45). They piggyback on the Verizon network (or so I was told). Zero complaints thus far. Saved me about 50% on my monthly bill. No-brainer.

A buddy has the Google-Fi setup, which is pretty similar IIRC, and he's pleased with it.

So there are other options out there now.
