Dinsy Ejotuz said:

Has anyone indicated anywhere that elected officials were part of this?

Also side note - hilarious that Lindsey Graham is in that list

Hmm, that's a new one. I guess it's unfortunate we live in America where the people can't start their own movement without the support of a public figure or politician. This place is even worse than I thought!

That's kind of my point.

No one really cares if a bunch of Gary Johnson and Donald Trump voters say, "gosh darn it, I'd like too, but I just can't vote for Biden." So I'm looking for evidence that this thing even exists.

Nobody thought there was a never Hillary movement until it was too late for her to pivot.

Is it bigger than 2016? I'd assume no, but it could still make a difference in what looks to be a close race. I know Twitter and the other socials arent an accurate slice of real life but there's enough noise to convince me that it at least exists. The people offline may not tell anyone at all, they might just stay home.

This is much worse than in 2016.

A top adviser to Sen. Bernie Sanders’s (I-Vt.) presidential campaign warned in a memo on Friday that former Vice President Joe Biden could lose the election in November because “a significant portion” of Sanders’s supporters are “currently unsupportive and unenthusiastic” about his candidacy.

A recent USA Today-Suffolk University poll found that about 20 percent of Sanders supporters say they do not intend to vote for Biden. About 60 percent said they are not excited about supporting his nomination.

Meanwhile, a Pew Research Center survey found that 47 percent of Sanders supporters said that differences between Biden and Sanders will keep the party from uniting behind the presumptive nominee.

Meh, 20% of Sanders supporters probably wouldn't vote for Warren, Klobuchar, Buttigieg either if they were the nominee. It is pretty much Bernie or no one.

It does seem like much of the activity around here has died off since Biden started pulling away.  He's an extremely uninspired candidate.  That might be fine for people who's only preoccupation is Trump, but it's not for people who want ambitious, meaningful change.

I don't know if it's just the time of year or whatever but I get it if people are unenthused about this election.

As much as I think she's a total phony I would have held my nose and voted Warren on the chance she followed through on any of the platform she had in the early part of her run. I would have at least given Pete a fair chance to earn my vote.

It is a combination of factors: Traditionally most people don't start paying attention to the presidential election until after Labor Day. Add in the COVID-19 distraction dominating every new cycle, plus the fact that Biden is unable to go out in public and campaign.

I don't hate Biden like I did Hillary.  But he doesn't motivate me to go out and vote for him because I don't hate Trump either.

A lot of people do hate Trump though. And even more there are people like me who don’t hate him but who believe that he’s not competent for the job and that he needs to be removed.

But your first sentence might be the most important. Studies of 2016 suggest that a lot of people were like you and hated Hillary and voted for Trump for that reason. I don’t think very many people hate Biden, so hopefully some of those who hated Hillary might simply stay home this time around.

Biden scares me.  I think he is losing his mental capabilities and I'm not sure he'll make it 4 years in the Oval Office.  That job ages you fast.  His VP nominee better be rock solid.

I think people underestimate how much ammunition Joe Biden gives the GOP.  For the DNC to learn nothing from 2016, and recommit 100% to status quo politics again, is somehow even more disillusioning than the last election.

I think YOU underestimate how many people are longing for a return to what you call “status quo.”

It will be interesting to see who wins this argument.  Trump was elected because people wanted change.  I think people still want more change in DC.  And Biden is the furthest thing from that.  Not really seeing any type of "Biden Movement" any where.  Also possible that many R's switched for the primary just to vote for Biden.

This is essentially what I was afraid of when Bernie lost in 16. At the time the country clearly wanted change and I believe they would have chosen Bernie of the two.

Now that they got change, albeit from a swing in the total opposite direction, they get scared and want "normal" because it's comfortable and forget why they wanted change in the first place.

Except the type of change Bernie wanted is not the type of change that America wants.  America does not want to move far left and become socialist.

According to Joe, if you're black and vote for Trump you should be applying to change your race.

How many gaffes can this guy make?  I continue to be astounded at what comes out of his mouth and the tolerance for his statements.

It's a generational thing. Look at any poll. The change is coming. You just have to deal with it.
Oh, I'm ready.

When most of the generation that wants Socialism grows up and actually starts earning real money as they get older, they'll realize how stupid they were to think that Socialism was EVER an option.

Even more astounding there are actually people on these boards defending it (or noticeably absent) when called out on it.

#VoteBlueAbuserNoMatterWho

That's why he can make gaffes.  Because the left doesn't actually believe in 90% of what they spew.  They just want to use it against you.

I think we are at the stage of American politics where gaffes no longer matter to either side.

This isn’t surprising.  There’s a large segment of the country that is just interested in their side winning.
This election just shows the voting guidance genius of Richard Pryor.

Never in my lifetime have I looked at our choices and find them both completely and utterly without value.

What we have is a corporate-run oligarchy masquerading as a representative democracy.  The experiment is over.  It's been over for a long time.

I can't imagine why a minority voter would want to vote for Biden.  The guy was at the forefront of mass incarceration policies throughout his time in Congress.  Here's Charlemagne Tha God on Biden:

“I see black communities all across America catching hell regardless of who is in the White House,” Charlamagne Tha God said. “People like to bring up coronavirus and how it’s hitting black people the hardest. That’s because we have a bunch of underlying conditions created by systemic racism that have never been fixed.”

“And like I said before, if you created legislation that hurts, then you have to create legislation that helps,” he continued. “It’s just that simple. Like, the whole system needs to be dismantled and rebuilt, and he’s been a very intricate part of that system, whether you’re talking about, you know, in ‘84 with the mandatory minimum sentences for drug dealers, or you’re talking about ‘86 with the crack laws that gave you more time for crack cocaine than powder cocaine, or you’re talking about the ’94 crime bill, like, he was really one of the people on the front line when it came to the war on drugs and mass incarceration.”

Now they're supposed to vote for the guy because he's a Democrat?  If you don't want to vote for Trump, that's fine.  But I wouldn't vote for Biden either.  He's worse for my community.

I am not thrilled about Biden but realize we need to remove one the most corrupt, incompetent Presidents in  our nation’s history. I shall vote against Trump and for  the person with a (D) behind their name because unfortunately that is the only shot to remove Trump. No one is more harmful to our country than a President who tries to take healthcare  away from millions, lies to Americans every day or puts children in cages. The end.

As far as healthcare goes, even Biden says that Obamacare needs major reform.  Not sure his plan will work: https://theintercept.com/2020/03/06/biden-campaign-health-care-platform-affordable-care-act/

As far as politicians lying, they all do.  Here are Biden's lies, he's piling them up for a person who hasn't done much speaking lately: https://www.politifact.com/personalities/joe-biden/

Yeah about that children in cages thing...: https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2019/sep/13/joe-biden/fact-checking-biden-use-cages-during-obama-adminis/

I'm not sure I would call Trump corrupt, he's been the most investigated President in our nations history.  Since the day he won the election he's been under investigation.  You'd think at this point, the investigators would have something on the guy if he was so corrupt.

They don't all lie continuously, the current system of Obamacare that needs reform is better than no healthcare. Even when I was a Republican I said we have been whining about Obamacare for years I said come up with a better plan or shut your piehole.

It's annoying when people lay out several tangible, ideological reasons for how Biden has betrayed the black community, and people just gloss over that and tell them to 'vote against trump' anyway.  I think that's trash.  People need to demand more from politicians than just being 0.2% less ####ty than the "alternative".

I don’t disagree, but I’d vote for any sane person over Trump. #### it.

The better plan has been come up with in the form of M4A. The Democratic establishment resists it. And yes cause I know you’ll bring them up, the Pubs do as well.

Wow- Biden pulling out all the stops to appeal to Republicans and national security geniuses.  It’s a wonder leftists aren’t head over heels for this campaign.

Skimming the list of names... Armitage, Negroponte, Zakheim, Hayden. These guys all did such a bang-up job when they were in power. We should definitely trust their judgement.
Maybe so...how about the others?  The point is that more and more on the right are abandoning a guy whose judgement is awful

“The group accuses Trump of “[aligning] himself with dictators and human rights abusers,” such as North Korea’s Kim Jong Un and Russia’s Vladimir Putin“

Imagine how naive and uninformed you have to be to actually buy this line.  The Shah of Iran?  Saddam Hussein?  The House of Saud?

But yes let’s hear it from those Republican national security advisors and Lincoln Project neocons, things were going so well before Trump came along.

Its not a line...it’s proven fact at this point ren.

We get it...you don’t like Biden...the point being made is more about how so many are turning away from Trump in the way some tried claiming would happen against Biden.

Agree with all this...problem is, we need to stop digging before we can even get to THIS stage....that's where we're at as a country.
