Just some thoughts on the craziness of this FF/NFL season:

- After signing with the Houston Texans as an undrafted rookie and working his way up from the practice squad to the starting lineup, Arian Foster won the NFL rushing title with 1616 yards.

- After playing four different teams over the course of his first 7 seasons, Brandon Lloyd almost doubled his previous career high of 733 receiving yards to win the NFL receiving title with 1448 yards for the Denver Broncos.

- After being undrafted and cut from the Tennessee Titans in training camp, LeGarrette Blount latched on with the Tampa Bay Bucs and lead all rookies with 1007 rushing yards.

- After two undistinguished seasons as a backup RB/FB for the Denver Broncos, a college FB named Peyton Hillis was traded to the Cleveland Browns. He lead the team with 1177 rushing yards.

- After being the butt of jokes for the entire week leading up to their playoff tilt against the defending Super Bowl champs, the lowly 7-9 Seahawks overcome the title of "worst playoff team ever" to pull off the stunning upset on the back of draft bust turned hero Mike Williams.

You can't make this stuff up. When it comes to FF and the NFL, it's never safe to say never. You can't be narrow-minded or dismissive because almost anything can and will happen.

:lmao: One of the many things that makes the NFL so great and why it is a fools errand to think a statistical formula can ever account for all the intangibles involved in football.

Who ever does?

Of course, I fully expected the Saints to win, but the game was not remotely surprising. Every single team in the NFL, whether it's the Panthers or the Bills or the Seahawks, has the ability to beat any other. There's really no question about that, and there never has been. Not to anyone that follows the sport with any sort of attention.

As far as players coming out of nowhere, & it's happening more & more, it just goes to show scouting is not only an inexact science, it needs to be vastly improved (overall).

The biggest thing that will change in scouting is LESS reliance on raw numbers (Combine, etc.) & more credence given to what kind of football player the prospect is (including intelligence, personality, etc.). That's my biggest pet peeve in scouting (too much reliance on raw numbers). Numbers are fine, but most teams rely on them so much it's killing their "hit" percentage.

In short, scouting will rely less on technology in the future & will actually get simpler to some degree. This isn't track or the decathlon, it's football.
