***NEW*** 5 Minute Drill: Week 4 Prep (1 Viewer)

Marc Faletti

Footballguy
Howdy, sharks! Shot yesterday and brought to you today, we've got the first of 2 episodes of the Drill this week. This is our last week of 2 episodes (looking forward to some sleep!) for a while, and with all the injuries and lineup developments, there's a lot to ponder heading into week 4. Oh yeah, and byes begin, too...

Here are our takes on the big issues, as well as some guys to think about that might be flying under the radar:

http://subscribers.footballguys.com/podcast/

Also, tune in on Friday morning for our look at all the changes in the fantasy world in a piece we call "The Fantasy New World Order."

Remember, the show's free to all, and thanks for watching! Thousands of sharks can't be wrong...

Marshawn Lynch - 30 carries a game? Can't agree with you there
His first three games go19 carries18 carries20 carriesSo saying 30 carries is a slight hyberbole. But I wouldn't be surprised if it was bumped to around 25 carries a game. He could see more targets in the passing game as well.

I think this actually helps A-Train get more involved. Juaron is a big fan of his and will most likely need to keep his RB's as fresh as possible in order to stand any chance.Plus this week they play the JETS, who have a bad rush-D. :bag:

Are you sure Warner is going to start?
Matt Leinart is still the starter. We feel that Warner could be in there for a few weeks if ML struggles.
Would Warner provide any relative value?I mean if he is just going to run the 2min drill for 3 games in a row I doubt any of us would be looking to start him.It seems to me that you guys were seriously endorsing him.Did I get the message wrong?

Leftwich to start in Petrino's complex rapid fire offense? Preposterous. Leftwich was brought in as the 3rd QB they promised to bring in before the season started. He wa obviously the Falcons last choice as they waited until week 3. R. White is correct call but from Harrington for a long time to come.

Hey! What gives?! Isn't Sig the one who usually wears the "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" blue shirt?

I want to believe in Roddy White. I really do. Liked him a bunch when he was at UAB....but I'm getting a vibe that he may have just had his best week of the year last week. Still, not as if he'd done NOTHING the first 2 weeks I suppose, but I'm not sure what to expect going forward. Especially if Leftwich is thrown in there soon. Less familiarity, etc. I'm bidding on him, but it's one of those times when I feel like I'm not sure if I'm better off if I win the bid or lose it.

Whatchoo fellas think of King in Carolina with Carr if Carr's in there longer than expected?(He's another guy I'm been peckering around trying to find space for on my roster for the last couple weeks. Thought I could sneak him through another week and he went and found the EZ, so now I may be SOL. Jerk.) Would he downgrade a shade with Carr, or could he actually see a few more targets since Carr may not be asked to put as much air in the ball as Jake would? Go more ball control in Delhomme's absence. I'm still trying to make up my own mind on it.

Hey MacDaddy! We indicated (and the text on the right helps clarify it) that Leinart's the starter for now, but we think he'll continue to struggle -- we've been telling that story for a few weeks. If he does, it may not take long before Warner eventually usurps the whole job, and at least for the first few weeks, that could produce a lot of points.

Hey 5-ish!Yeah, we like King as a matter of circumstance. He's hardly a TE talent to behold, but he has been getting some looks. Carr's known for panic-related deump-offs, so King could stay involved with Carr at the helm. He's a very solid play going forward.

I believe that Kings numbers will get a slight uptick with Carr behind the wheel. :goodposting: at the signature

See, that's basically what I've been thinking, Marc....Carr will feed him short stuff when he hits the panic button, but he's really "just a guy" to me. (I still think I'm picking up some dude to play firstbase every time I consider him. :lmao: ) Still, as a Cooley owner I'm keeping my options open since he's starting out slow again. I'll probably roster him for a couple weeks at least and see what happens.

Dude, I have unwholesome man-love for your 'do. I can neither explain nor justify it. It almost makes me feel uncomfortable....almost. :lmao:

Roddy has been the leading wide receiver in all 3 games this season.Where are you people getting this stuff about Leftwich? He wasn't necessarily brought in to start, he's more of an insurance policy given the backup at the time was Chris Redman and the offense looked to be struggling. I think Joey just bought himself some time, not as if he played badly in either of the first two games either.

Where are you people getting this stuff about Leftwich?
RIF. You'll notice I said "if" about Leftwich, not "when." But I doubt they brought him in at, what was it, 3 million per to just be a replacement for Chris Redman? May be a while before he'd be turned to, but come on, he's only gotta be better than Joey friggin' Harrington.I also allowed that White was getting targets all 3 games. That still doesn't mean he's going off for 120 and a touch every week from here on out.

You guys like White more for this year than Reggie Brown? Does he have staying power?
I think he does in that offense. Lots of crosses and quick passes that give him a chance to use that YAC ability - Booker had success with Harrington in the same fashion last year. Leftwich should get up to speed at some point, then White's ability to get deep comes into play. One potential obstacle could be the emergence of Laurent Robinson, but barring that he should get targeted more than any WR in Atlanta.

I just cant get sold on Berrian being worse off with Griese in there guys. Berrian can get open. While he drops balls, I think he the best receiving threat they currently have.

I also believe he not as much as a one trick pony (see Lelie) as he used to be, so whether Griese can or cannot throw the deep ball..... I think Berrians gonna get his.

disclaimer (I don't own Berrian in any leagues either :P )

Marcany thoughts on the 'other' Adrian Peterson, Bears RB? Benson hasn't looked good at all.do they plan to shift to Peterson if Benson continues to disappoint?

Relative has more than one definition, big guy.

Hey Tanner!I feel Peterson's been outplaying Benson in limited, time, but unfortunately he's got a nagging calf injury. I doubt they'll expand his role while he's banged up, but within a few weeks, I wouldn't be surprised to see him grab a role as big as Sammy Morris' (or bigger). Lovie Smith tends to stick with his struggling young guys too long, but eventually he'll see the light on Ced... :bowtie:

I agree, he put himself on the map by being on the receiving end of Grossman's long ball, now he seems like a true go to #1 WR. Also liked what I heard in the FBG audible interview from The Bear Report guy, during the pre season Berrian owned the Bears best DB's. I think Griese uses him all over the field and maintains longer drives, meaning more chances.

Not trying to be facetious, how does you outlook on Berrian fair going forward based off his performance?
Berrian put up nice numbers, but is Griese going to throw 52 times again? I will say that Griese seemed to have the lock on Berrian the same way Grossman did, but three of those passes intended for Berrian were intercepted - against the same secondary that looked like a flag football team against Philly. The Berrian bomb is definitely on the shelf, which was a significant part of his value. I still think Berrian is a sell high if you can get a real WR2 for him, but I'll admit the passing game didnt look as poor as I expected today. I can't say whether that's because of the pass attempts, the Detroit defense, or maybe that Griese is actually an upgrade.
