Steelers fans --You'll be back. I know it. You've got a great team there. Once your QB gets a little more experience (and the rest of the team gets healthy), you'll have a great chance to get to the Bowl next year. Heck, if you'd had both today you could be there already.See you next January.
I'm starting to seriously think the Patriots will win 6-7 super bowls this decade.

I hope not....thats what ruined the NBA for me btw the damn Bulls and Lakers.

Man, there are a ton of Steelers front-runner bandwagon fans I need to dial up right now. I've been hearing nonsense about a repeat of week 8 for a month now. New England delivers me this wonderful gift in the form of a huge plate of crow to serve my friends and coworkers.Kudos, Pats.

It would ruin the NFL like some said. I would love it, the NFL guys sure wouldn't.

Actually I'm not so sure. A lot of people hate dominance when they think they have an unfair inherent advantage like the Yankees' money. But there is no inherent advantage. They are just more skilled than everyone else. This is good for the NFL because it forces everyone else to improve. True competition breeds this. I woud expect the quality of the league to rise.

I don't see it due to the fact that there are a lot of aging players on the roster. While I have all the confidence in the world in BB and Pioli, there is an intangible aspect of the aggregate value of Brown and McGinest and Pfifer and Harrison and (etc., etc.). This theory, I'm sure, will be quickly discounted by those who choose to anoit Brady as Montana and BB as Lombardi, but as BB often notes, it is the discipline, knowledge, intelligence and execution of many veteran players which is the foundation of what the Patriots performance is about. The run will end inevitably; I'm just enjoying the ride while it lasts.... :football:

Just wanted to show up somewhere on the boards and congratulate the Patriots for another AFC Championship. Good luck in the Superbowl. I must admit that after the 2001 season I thought it was a complete fluke and that the Patriots would just fade away. I was wrong as wrong could be. I expect the Patriots will beat the Eagles and have a huge lead for the title of team of the decade. Four Championships in one decade, if the Patriots can pull that off, will put them in the company of the 60's Packers, 70's Steelers, 80's 49ers and the 90's Cowboys. If it happens that way, and it looks like it will, I'm just sure glad that a team and organization with real class like New England will do it. (Not to mention a team from the AFC) It would really upset me if another team and organization like the 90's Cowboys were to do it. It made me so sick to my stomache to see Barry Switzer and Jerry Jones accept that Lombardi trophy. But I'm still a loyal Steelers fan to the bone and as long as a class act like the Rooney family owns them, I doubt that will ever change. :stillers: :stillers: :stillers: :stillers:

You have no defense Cleveland has done nothing in the NFL and you have no right to say what the Steelers should or should not do.
I'm not a Browns fan or anything but they have won 4 NFL titles and been in the title game 11 times. They've never been to the Super Bowl obviously but the NFL's been around a long time. The Browns have had a few decent players over the years like Otto Graham, Marion Motley, and Jim Brown. Check out the NFL's All-Time Team sometime.

haven't read all the posts, as i'm not in the mood, but wanted to say congrats to all the respectful pats fans out there. you were the better team today and deserve the trip to jax..

For the first time all night I will agree with you. I already see this happening. There is better cap management and more emphasis on team play. Why is Randy Moss on the block? is a prime example. Until the next contract situation the players can take their ego and off-feild rep and shove it.

Dillon will be a non-factor.
Quoting this for posterity. :rotflmao:Dilllon - 70-80 yds and 1 TD
Bump :)Final Line : Dillon 71yds - 1TD
Dillon was a nonfactor. His yards happenend after Brady and the defense took over. (Pretty early in the game). After they took the big lead they just had to run.

Dillon was certainly not a big factor in that game, nor was I (or anyone else) saying he was going to be.... however to say that his TD was not a factor in that game is a bit silly... Part of the reason NE was able to throw as smoothly is the Steelers had to be ready for Dillon.... It's like me waiving my right fist around in your face while blindsiding you with my left. Replace Dillon with Faulk and the Steelers could care less about the run. With Dillon getting 25 rushing attempts, you have to account for him on short yardage situations.... nonfactor? Only if you're looking at the game on the shallowest of levels....

I think Tom Brady would have killed the Steelers regardless tonight.

Haven't read any of the last 10 pages or so in this thread, but at any rate. Congrates NE and fans. They played a near perfect game yet agian tonight and really Pitt never had a chance. Tom Brady is simply the best Prime Time QB I have ever watched play. Thosse who say he is nothing like Montana need only watch tonights game. He was just lights out. Showed that amazing 6th sense in the pocket and made every throw. I become more and more impressed every time I watch that guy and this team. NE is the well deserving of their trip to the SB and should be favored by 10 IMO. Kudos to you Pats. Thanks for the better than expected season Steelers!

CLASSY.

I think the Super Bowl could be a similar type game, as well (meaning a semi-blowout). New England is unreal. They're doing it without their 2 best D players, too. I'm not a Pats fan, either. It's just that in this day & age of the salary cap & FA, they're as close to a dynasty as you're going to get. Incredible.
What he said.

I think Branch was more a factor than Dillon was. I know for sure it was Brady that killed the Steelers. (And the Steelers own mistakes.) The Steelers are traditionally strong at stopping the rushing game. I don't think anyone was trying to say that Dillon is not a good RB, it's that the Steelers have a very good defense vs the rush. 70-80 yards and a TD is not what broke the Steelers back, it was Brady's passing, specifically big plays and crucial 3rd down situations. It amazes me that the Patriots can maintain such a high level of play without making any mistakes.

First off, congrats to the Patriots. They played an absolutely FLAWLESS first half and put the game away. The WR's caught every friggin ball thrown to them. The DB's caught every friggin ball thrown to them. If the Steelers were going to lose, I'm glad it wasn't on some BS call or last second fluke play.

I admit, I underestimated what the Pats did to the Colts and I unfortunately over-estimated how Big Ben and the Steelers would play.

I feel so bad for Jerome Bettis. I wanted more than anything for him to get to a Super Bowl. It's such a shame, but that's the NFL and it's why it's the greatest sports league in the world.

Tom Brady has my respect. I really thought he was an "ok" QB. After his performance I know he is truly an excellent player.

I am downtrodden, but come August, I will be pumped again. The Steelers have the core for a solid team for many many seasons. Alot of people haven't seen their team in an AFC Championship game in many years. I feel fortunate and so should all Steeler fans that the team will be back, stronger than ever.

In closing, congrats again Patriots...and beat the living be-jeebus outta the Iggles. Thank you all and good night.

Its rare for me to record non-Browns games besides super bowls, but I did record this one. There's a few things I need to go back and look at.1. How much pressure did the Steelers attempt to put on Brady?2. How often did the Patriots' DBs get up on the LOS?Stuff like that. There's a few things I want to look at. I want to know how Belichick dismantled this team.

I think you will find that Brady dismantled the Steelers and that Coach Belichick really did not do anything much different. Both teams played real tough football, Steelers made mistakes, Patriots made I think NO mistakes... Patriots win. I would be interested in hearing your analysis though.

I still contend that Brady can be rattled. The passing game just features such lightning quick passing that sometimes its just impossible to get pressure. They love to just flip it out on a quick slant or even hit the WR on the LOS. Snap the ball, turn, throw.
