New league advice (1 Viewer)

I enjoy fantasy baseball, but haven't played for several years. College baseball is big in Omaha, but I have very few friends who enjoy MLB. So, I have several questions.

(1) How do you find good active owners (best case scenerio owners good enough to eventually work towards a keeper league)?

(2) What is the best web site to host? Years ago I used CBSsportsline and it was fine but not outstanding. Any "myfantasyleague" equivalents for baseball?

(3) I've always done rotiseree (sp?) scoring for years and I've never really liked it. It's okay but just a bit odd. Head to head is good, but if owners lose interest it is one of the worst options. I once saw a total scoring system that looked kind of good (e.g. 10 points for a hit, 40 points for a save, etc.) Anyone have experience with that? Any examples of a good scoring system to use?

(4) How do you get the casual fan interested and willing to do fantasy baseball? One must is weekly transactions/lineup submissions. Daily becomes too much for most people (probably me included). Any ideas.

Thank you for any thoughts/advice.

(2) Here is a chart that compares different baseball hosting sites.
Great linkI use Yahoo for my 5X5 Roto keeper league...............you're right, a H2H league is great, until your team falls out of it.

It takes a little more work(you've got to run all of the keeper material yourself)...........But I love running all the numbers this time of year.

For us, Yahoo works out just fine............and you can't beat the price

Although ESPN looks promising too

(1) How do you find good active owners (best case scenerio owners good enough to eventually work towards a keeper league)? Most all of the baseball fantasy sites have separate threads for people looking for leagues or looking for owners to fill leagues (many of those are only paid, but some like fantasybaseball.com have free sections as well like FBG)

(2) What is the best web site to host? Years ago I used CBSsportsline and it was fine but not outstanding. Any "myfantasyleague" equivalents for baseball? There really are no great ones. Sportsline is fine. There are less expensive (Rotowire, ESPN, Yahoo) with drawbacks and several more expensive (and not worth it IMO)

Most are rotisserie style - anything else will require far more explanation for beginners

(4) How do you get the casual fan interested and willing to do fantasy baseball? One must is weekly transactions/lineup submissions. Daily becomes too much for most people (probably me included). Any ideas. If they are not baseball fans I don't see any reason to push them into it - it won't work and they will just lose interest and drop out

Thank you for any thoughts/advice.
My comments to your questions in Blue above. One other thing you might be able to get a local group to do is participate in MLB's challenge - you can form your own league with 12 people. It's a simple H2H points league, but there are playoffs and eventual League Champions all get $100 in MLB credits with CHAMPION winning $10,000 - not bad for no entry fee.

#4 is key..........they most love baseball, as fantasy baseball is much more time consuming that fantasy football.

I live in Omaha and would be interested in joining a league. I am in one now, but I hate the way it is set up and would really like to be in a more enjoyable league.

Please PM an e-mail address. If I can get a group interested we'll add you to the tally.
