New Orleans Backfield (1 Viewer)

So what's changing in NO with the running game? Nada? Is reggie still the 3rd down back or splitty with Duece?? What kind of Fantasy production should we expect from Bush?

Much of the same, i'd think. Why fix what isn't broken? Bush will likely get some more carries, but Deuce will still be a big part of the offense. Bush will probably be a little more productive than last seaon, McCallister equal or a bit less productive than he was last year.

Why is Bush rated where he is if he's a big splitty?
It should be the same as last year. Deuce is the starting RB and Bush is half RB and half WR. The reason Bush is being rated so high is the hype factor and the fact that he he finished the season very strong. IIRC, during the final 10 games of the 06 season Bush averaged 100 yards and 1 TD a game.

B/c he catches a lot of balls and is a threat to score at any time. He's one of about 5 players in the league that can have 8 touches for 20 yards going in to the last 8 minutes of a game and finish with 10 touches for 160 yards and 2 Tds.

I think one other area that gives Bush a bump is Sean Payton. Payton is one of the top offensive minds in the NFL. Reggie is a different player and as the year went on it appeared Payton really figured out how best to use him (as well as Reggie improving his game as well). Now that the Payton/Bush era is entering year two I don't think it's a stretch to say that Payton will put him in a position to make him even more productive this year.

Look at how Bush was used once he became acclimated to the NFL. Expect more of that.It didn't affect how Deuce was used much at all, so expect the same from him, or maybe a little less.

I love Bush. But IMO he's either being taken at around value or slightly above value (depending on your scoring system).

Deuce, on the other hand, is a HUGE value play in this year.

As others have said, don't expect too much to change from last year. I think Bush is going to get more carries and catch a few fewer passes, and Deuce might see a slight dip in carries but nothing too dramatic. But Deuce is still going to be one of the better RB2s in FF, yet he is being drafted as a bottom tier RB2.

I agree 100%. Deuce and Bush will have big years. I would not be surprised to see them both finish in the range of a RB1.

Ok, I just had my redraft league draft and actually had to go back and look at this afterwards. Is Deuce McAllister really going as a RB3?!?! Saw his ADP is at 4.09. My lord, what has the world come to? McAllister = Value.

Hell a lot of people are probably going to be driving themselves nuts this week trying to figure out if they should start him over one of their RB 1 or 2.

Payton has said they will not be looking to use Reggie as much on punt returns, which leads me to believe they plan to feature him more heavily in the offense. Also, Deuce has not looked very good during preseason, so I wouldn't be surprised if Bush started getting some of his carries.

I figure they'll split the load pretty evenly, with each getting about 800-900 yards, and Bush getting 65 or so catches. Remember this is still an offense that passes 70% of the time.

I hear you Jurb. I got DMac as my RB3 in the 6th round! That's value! Rolling out Henry/Rudi/DMac each week and loving it!

I did not see Deuce play in preseason, but his numbers look fine to me:vs Cinci 3 carries 15 yards 1 reception 10 yards 1 TDvs KC 6 carries 14 yards 4 receptions 32 yards In 06, the Saints ran the ball 472 times (5th most in the NFC) and passed 580 times (1st in NFC). That means they ran 45% of the time and passed 55%. Thats a far cry from 70%.
