New team each week fantasy format (1 Viewer)

Next year I'd like to start a fantasy league in which you would pick a new fantasy team each week. I think it would be a very challening format. Here is how it would work:

There wouldn't be a draft. Each week, you would only pick your starting lineup. You can only pick the same player once per season (e.g. If you chose Aaron Rogers week 1, you can't play him for the remainder of the season). The same players could be on multiple teams per week (e.g. Two or more teams could choose Aaron Rogers for Week 1). The season would go weeks 1-17. There would be no head-to-head. There would also be no playoffs and the season winner would be determined by total points.

I'm sure this has been done before. Does anyone know of a fantasy football website that would support this format? I could manage some of it myself and just load the rosters each week, but that would be difficult.

I do a league like this and it's awesome. The only difference with mine is that instead of total points, its survivor style, so the low scre each week gets eliminated, though eliminated players are still eligible for the weekly points $ bonus. The other great thing about it is under this format there's theoretically no limit to the amount of people who can play. For example, my league has 30 people in it this year, and we plan to expand it further next year.MFL can handle this format. Set it up as a total points league with contest style scoring where players can be used 1 time per seasonHTH

Sweet, thanks for the reply!

Anyone know if any websites have this for free? It might be fun to run as a work pool, but I wouldn't want to track it manually.

If you're handy with Excel and follow an existing scoring format, you can download scoring from one of the sites like MFL or Sportsline. I run a contest like this (it's the old FFTOC game)and import the weekly scoring from my local league's MFL site. Works great, gets it done fast for the 15 of us in the contest.

Send me a pm if you're interested in more details.

Depending on the number of participants, even a pay site like MFL becomes resonable. The more participants you get, the cheaper per-person it becomes. So if you have like 20 people from work, $4 per person isnt that bad. Just have to let them know up front that part of their entry fee will go towards that. Your entry fee will have to be higher to offset though which may keep some people away.

There is a $10 discount for FBG members, an early bird discount, and then a $10 multi-league discount for each league after the first. My local leagues are all bought by the same person and the multi-league discount split between all the leagues. With those three discounts you can get a league close to $50 or so IIRC. So about $5 per owner in a 10 or 12 team league. Go up to 20 owners and it's under $3.

LOVE the idea.

If anyone sees this and has room for an invite next season, shoot me a PM. I might even have a few to bring with me.

It's a very cool little contest. This is our fourth year of doing it and everybody keeps coming back plus a few more. It's fun to put together a different lineup each week and, if you have playoffs like FFTOC did in their contest, there's a fair amount of strategy involved in the later weeks, too.
