18 times a team was blown out by 30+ points during the regular season and then went on to face that same opponent in the playoffs. How many times did the losing team beat the opponent they got waxed by?

The answer is ZERO

Good Luck

:lmao:

And the reward would then be to go to Pittsburgh or Baltimore?

Sheesh, if they somehow won this thing, it would be the biggest miracle ever.

Well, at least since the last Giants Super Bowl run.

The actual statistic has NEVER happened to division opponents, so it's never involved a team that also has a win against that same team. Makes the stat much less meaningful.

This is wrong. The 1993 Chiefs lost 30-0 to the Oilers, then beat them in the playoffs.

The 1990 Bengals lost by 31 against the Oilers in the regular season, then beat them by 27 in the playoffs.

Also see the 1977 Vikings (Rams), the 1976 Raiders (Patriots), and the 1965 Bills (Chargers).

First meeting at New York, the Patriots had three turnovers to none for the Jets and lost 28-14. In the second meeting, the Jets had three turnovers to none for the Patriots and lost 45-3.

The Patriots only had ten turnovers on the season and three were in the two games against the Jets.

The Chiefs had only 14 turnovers on the season yet lost six in their blow-out loss to the Ravens last weekend.

I am not saying that the Jets will win, but the turnovers in the game will be critical.

what I would like to know is, how many of those 18 times did the losing team beat the spread in the playoffs?

You can't help but like MoP.

MoP, you sure swung and missed on this one.

Let me ask this question:

Has there ever been an 11 win team that went 1-1 against a second round playoff opponent been such a heavy underdog as the Jets are this week in the history of the NFL?

I have no idea how to get that info, but I suspect it's never happened before.

This statement was to contrast the above post from KY that essentially stated Jets winn ing was an impossibility.

lol

Dont listen to em mop; you rock.

If the jets win, it'll be bigger than the pats losing to the broncos in the playoffs a couple years back, but thats about it.

Its not in the same universe as the catch 2.0 (tyree) or the silence of the rams.

Pats 27

Jets 20

ZERO +/- 5
:bag: It's all good MoP - just use the bag smiley...maybe we can get one of them people's thats good at the interwebs to get one with your initials on it or something.

You shouldn't.

And no one owns me, I am not a slave bro. I write down thoughts and things I find interesting. Sometimes I get some bad info. This was mentioned on a national sports show and I thought it was interesting. Nothing to be embarrassed about. Drinen had better info.

It's personal for you at this point for whatever reason. Let us know when you get paid.

no team in history of the NFL has lost 9 games in one season by 15+ points and defeated the defending champion in the playoffs that same year

i KNOW that will never happen

 Agreed, you are a solid poster; shaking my head at all the stone throwers.

It was shown as a "fact" on Sportsnation.
Exactly, and said again by Dan Lebatard earlier in the week. I'm not making excuses, just trusted the wrong folks for info. Thankfully we have DD working to ensure things are right. It's my fault for trusting bad info.
yea there's plenty of bad info......... i heard a handful of radio hosts repeating "brady hasnt been beaten in foxboro since 2000 whatever" they all forget it's the regular season streak cause he lost to the ravens at home last year........at least that's still alive for pat fans...lol.........and the consecutive passes without an int.....in the regular season.

Jets History: Mark Sanchez has more playoff victories than any QB in franchise history. By a factor of two--he's got double the next guy's total.

and half the people on this board still think they're winning in spite of him..it's ridiculous to say that about a guy who has a 92.2 passer rating in 5 career playoff road games in just his 2nd year.
