14 and rising in Islip, according to Janice huffApparently they are calling for up to 18in for nassau?
I do miss breaking out El Jeepo and wailing up and down the twisty hills of the North Shore with severe prejudice
So far so good, thanks for asking! Natural History Museum today and Wicked this evening kept us out of the elements. Tomorrow is Statue of Liberty, the real test. Hoping perhaps the horrendous conditions will keep other tourists away so we won’t have to wait too long to get on the ferry. How's it going?

It was awesome, we all had a great time! Statue of Liberty was torture, for a while there while waiting for the boat I was worried we would end up with frostbite, but it all ended up ok and in the end we were glad we toughed it out and did it. For the rest we took subways as often as possible, even though in nicer weather I’d rather walk and see more of the city. Did the Intrepid air and space museum on Sunday which had a lot of outdoor elements and the cold wasn’t bad at all by then, even right on the water. Overall the kids loved the city, and I promised them we’ll go back someway when it’s warmer.RUSF18 said:How'd the rest turn out?
I bet you do :ROARIN:Also, I grew up in a one square mile village on the Sound, North Shore of Nassau. It has like 5,000 residents.
So, Im getting lunch today and the bartender says oh, our hostess is from NY. I'm like, cool and ask her where. She says Long Island. I say, gonna need to be more specific, me too. She says nassau... Im like... OH? she says... small town, SEA CLIFF.
I yell out audible enough across the entire restaurant (as we NYers are prone to do) GET THE #### OUT.
Seriously, don't think I've ever randomly met a fellow Sea Cliffer outside of the Tri State area. So random. Kinda cute too - I probably know her mom.![]()

I’m honestly torn on how to rate my ride. Dude is having a bad day.The front wheel just fell off my Lyft and rolled through oncoming traffic. The guy hopped out and dodged a few cars to retrieve it, came back to the car and said “sorry” like he needed to reach past me for the ketchup.
I patted him on the back and walked the last ten blocks home. Only in New York kids

my Irish uncle had one (the Italians wouldn't be caught dead up in a Ford) - anyways, he would come round us all up (mom up front, the four of us in the so called "back") once a month for a day out ... being crammed in there sucked enough, but dude would always pick hour+ destinations (West Point/Jersey Shore/Bear Mountain/Wild West City/Long Beach/etc), lotta highway driving, and the unc was known to have a cocktail (or ten) on occasion. had a very heavy foot, and zigged in and out of traffic like a demon. white knucklin' that #### after the report about the exploding hatch on rear end collisions came to fruition, so much so that we all took to popping a few shots of whiskey beforehand - it was also our tried and true toothache remedy (we din't need no stinkin' Anbesol), so if we couldn't sneak it, we were all mysteriously dealing with chopper pain those days ...lol, my old man drove a Pinto
that #### actually started on fire while he was driving
Good enough to grab a beer and maybe an appetizer. I usually will have a beer in the one on 3rd ave when waiting for an express bus home.Pig ‘n Whistle any good? There is one I can see from my hotel window and thought I would give it a try.
Agreed. There are maybe 4-5 around the city. I like the one by Rock Center actually.Good enough to grab a beer and maybe an appetizer. I usually will have a beer in the one on 3rd ave when waiting for an express bus home.
Not in Brooklyn, but for anyone who is in Hoboken I highly recommend Domenico Spoleti. 617 Willlow Ave; 201-659-7882. Great tailorDoes anyone have a tailor for suits they would recommend? My guy sold his joint and they are twice the price and half the fit.
Probably won't go to Hoboken but Manhattan would be fine. Thanks. Not in Brooklyn, but for anyone who is in Hoboken I highly recommend Domenico Spoleti. 617 Willlow Ave; 201-659-7882. Great tailor

Met or MoMA, but Met and the park go well together.Heading to NY with wife in early-April to see Springsteen and Hamilton. Staying at the Intercontinental near Times Square. Will have 2 full days from 9am-7pm before the shows to see the city. Was there 20 years ago as a young man. Any suggestions of must sees for those two days? Was thinking at least the Met and a stroll in Central Park. We like museums, the nature, people watching and walking to cool sites. We do not need fancy schmancy restaurants, but do like good food.
Christmas, birthday and anniversary trip all in one (expensive) trip. We will be in NY early April.Met or MoMA, but Met and the park go well together.
When are you here? Seems like all tourists go to the High Line now, which is really cool and has one spot where you get a view of the statue of liberty. But it can get pretty cold.
Good friends just saw Springsteen- huge fans of his- and said it was amazing. And Hamilton? Damn... Nice!
Early April will be a great time for the high line, with potentially lots of stuff blooming.Christmas, birthday and anniversary trip all in one (expensive) trip. We will be in NY early April.
I'm working at the Harvard Club and a coworker just mentioned a tailor that works across the street. He said it's a good combination of price and quality.Does anyone have a tailor for suits they would recommend? My guy sold his joint and they are twice the price and half the fit.
wtf? .. just googledWeather.com has a tsunami warning for NY/NJ right now.
Not surprised it was false. It seemed strangewtf? .. just googled
A bogus tsunami warning caused a flood of Tuesday morning confusion along the East Coast.
The alert, resembling the real deal, pinged on cell phones from Maine to Florida around 8:32 a.m. — but the National Weather service soon declared the message was only a test.
“The National Tsunami Warning Center did NOT issue a tsunami Warning, Watch, or Advisory for any part of the United States or Canada this morning,” came the follow-up message.
definitely. I'd think I'd get an alert for that kind of thing the way I do with other extreme weather or amber alerts. Not surprised it was false. It seemed strange
we've covered this before, but i am courteous in said manner to a fault - and i never notice minority kids doing it in such grandiose disparity as you allude to - it seems to break pretty evenly in my 35+ years in the City.had a millennial young white woman get up for my 6yo on the F this morning- a first. plus she was reading a book with headphones on.. all the usual tell-tale signs of a person choosing to be oblivious to the world around their commute.
I'm used to young black dudes getting up. hispanic guys too. older women, yes. but this was the first young white woman I've seen get up- kudos to you, whitey. noticed more guys- even the usually self-absorbed 20-60yo white dude- getting up for floppinha over the last year. somebody will offer 2x out of 5.... getting better, in spite of so much of the rest of the city getting worse with people's faces glued to their screens.
calling it like I've seen it in my 30 years here.we've covered this before, but i am courteous in said manner to a fault - and i never notice minority kids doing it in such grandiose disparity as you allude to - it seems to break pretty evenly in my 35+ years in the City.
