Bill Cowher didn't reveal a whole lot of information in today's news conference but he did list the injury report:
Questionable: S Ricardo Colclough (neck), RB Najeh Davenport (calf)
Probable: S Troy Polamalu (shoulder)
Davenport tweaked his calf in practice but Cowher didn't seem all that concerned about it. He called it dat-to-day and said that Davenport is now familiar enough with the system to get some playing time. When asked what role Davenport would play, specifically if it would be as a short yardage back, Cowher just said that he would fill the role of a running back. Cowher also said that Duce Staley has looked better in recent practices and that he expects to use all of his running backs at some point in the season.
Cowher was also asked if Willie Parker was being used too much and Cowher said no, especially considering the extra time between Game 1 & Game 2 (10 days) and Game 3 & Game 4 (13 days). He said there is no set maximum number of carries for Parker.
As for Colclough, apparently he is being examined today for a neck injury. This is the first I had heard about the injury and so I am a little suspicous to hear it suddenly bothering him, more than a week after the game. It looks to me like this might be an injury of convenience. I am just sayin'
Cowher would not elaborate on what changes were being made on the return team and did not say whether or not #3 pick WR Willie Reid would be active Sunday and if he would be returning punts. One thing is for certain, it won't be Colclough.
Cowher said that Troy Polamalu's shoulder is much better and he would start against San Diego. Other than that, not much else to report...
