If Warner can handle the blitz the Cards will do well. Warner hasn't had any pressure so far in the playoffs so I'd expect Philly to bring it often.
Eagles fans, what's your overall feeling going into this weekend's game as compared to the last two playoff games? I'm actually more confident this week than I have been for the entire playoffs.
For Minnesota, the fact that they were only two weeks past their horrible showing in Washington left me a bit unsure how they'd do travelling to Minnesota.
For the Giants, I knew they were two evenly matched teams, but a rested Giants team scared me, especially in the Meadowlands.
This week, considering they have played three stellar games since the Washington debacle, coupled with the fact that they've already played the Cards this year, has me feeling a bit more confident. Of course, I'm very well-aware that the game is in Arizona this time and the Cards played very well against Carolina last week.
What's your gut feeling, Eagles fans?

Honestly I'm less confident than I was for either of the 1st 2 games. Doesn't mean I don't think they'd win, but I was just extremely confident for the first 2....with the way the defense was playing I just couldn't see Tavaris getting it done, and it was obvious in the regular season how bad the Giants missed Plaxico against the Eagles. Even though the Eagles put the game out of reach early against the Cardinals on Thanksgiving, the Cardinals did have some success moving the ball in the 2nd half. I can't see Philly scoring 48 again especially with Westbrook not looking as good as he did then. To me, this game comes down to 2 things, protect McNabb and get pressure on Warner. McNabb has been throwing the ball great lately and he has always been comfortable going on the road and Arizona is his home state. If the Eagles slow the Cardinals blitz I think McNabb can torch them. And if the defense continues to do what they've been doing (I can't see any reason why they wouldn't) I think Warner will turn it over a couple times.The Cardinals are hot but with the way the defense is playing and with McNabb sustaining drives (since the BAL game he's completing around 75% of his passes on 3rd down) and keeping the D rested, the Eagles should win. I expect a relatively close, well played game by both teams, but I could see a controlling Eagles victory if they can force some turnovers early.

More relaxed, but not necessarily more confidant. Beating the Cowboys, Vikings, and Giants in successive weeks to end their seasons was awesome coming from a team that seemed to be lacking something most of the year. I almost feel like anything else they do from here out is gravy. While I want a SB win, 6 weeks ago the playoffs seemed a stretch after the horrible mid-season slump.I feel the Eagles should win, but consider the Cardinals very, very dangerous. The Cards have the kind of offense that can put up 35 on ANY team when they're on their A game, even this Eagles D.
I expect a high scoring game with a lot of big plays. I feel that the Eagles defense will pressure Warner into one or two critical mistakes that will decide the game for Philly. I see something along the lines of 31-24 Eagles, but realize that counting on mistakes from a two time MVP is dicey...that score could easily flip the other way.

Glad the game is in AZ. And I hate that damn turnpike. As an Arizona resident that gets to travel on all roads at NO charge, I had a hell of a time figuring out the turnpike. I missed my damn exit and had to go close to 20 miles before I could turn arround. I was such a damn tourist.

FWIW, we don't like it either. In fact, the state tried to toll I-80 for "mass transit" (read: help Rendell's buddies in Philly). Why? Is it the fact that you already lost to the Eagles by 4 TDs? Or the fact that the Eagles have a top 5 D, while the Panthers are top 15 (maybe). Or, maybe its the 3 probowl corners and probowl safety the Eagles have?Ok, all trash talk aside, what about this game makes you more comfortable?

If I had to guess, it might be the fact that the Cardinals are at home rather than on the road (and especially not in the Eastern time zone).

I'm guessing it stems from the fact that no one expected the Cards to win last week, not even their fans. Now they are believing in their team more, but the Eagles and the Panthers are very different teams. The Cards are better at home too which probably makes them more comfortable.

Bingo!We thought we were dead going on the road last week, but after our victory, every single Cardinal fan prayed for an Eagles victory so this game would have to come back to the desert. I understand that the Eagles are a great team, and are playing unbeleivable defense, but we have faith in our home field advantage and we feel we have a way better chance in this game than any other possible NFC Championship match up. I truly hope the Eagles players put as much stock in that Turkey Day game as the fans have been doing.This should be a great game and, like most games, whoever wins the turnover battle wins the game IMO.

ok, so who would you rather have (and i cant believe i am going to say this)...the QB who is the all time leader in lowest INT ratio, or the QB with 114 career INTs and 91 career fumbles? Yes, Iggles fans, i did just use McNabb as an example of why they should win.Other than a healthy Asante and a dinged up Boldin, i just dont see how this game is much different than the one on TGiving. Ok, its the playoffs, so i am sure the intensity will be higher and maybe that means the Cards lose by 2 TDs instead of 4
Your whole argument is based on the excitement of the fans to have another home game. Last i checked, that doesnt mean more than a few points on the field.

Comparing the QBs is silly IMO. They are both VERY good and VERY capable of winning this game. Kurt has a ring and was a league and Super Bowl MVP for crying out loud, so don't use the "our QB is better than your QB" argument for why the Iggles will win...it just doesn't apply.There was a question asked why we feel more confident in this game than against Carolina. I simply pointed out that we feel more confident at home than on the road, regardless of the team. The Cards play better at home. They were extremely shaky on the road all year. I guess I don't see why it is hard to understand why we wanted to come home for this game, regardless of the outcome.And I will admit we got beat up by the Eagles on T-Day. But that was a long way to travel, on a short week, after playing one of the most physical teams in football. We lacked focus, and that showed with two early TO's which changed the entire flow of the game. Westbrook killed us in that game, but his 1.9 YPC in the playoffs gives me another reason to be confident.I said earlier I think this will be a good game, and whichever team wins the TO battle wins the game. Its as cromulent as bringing up the Thanksgiving game. The Panthers beat the Cardinals in the regular season as well. The Cardinals dispatched of the NFC South which was arguably the toughest division in the league, so yeah, I like their chances at home against a team that is admittedly on a hot streak. Its not as if the Cardinals are on a cold streak. It should be a good game and I prefer it to the Cardinals chances in Carolina.

Vai was on ESPN radio with Missanelli and he was furious with the writer that he took his comments out of context. He never said he was rooting for them this week. Being a sports reporter he doesn't even root for the Eagles. Like the story said he still has love for the Cards because they drafted him and he still has a relationship with the Bidwells but he's not rooting for them to beat the Eagles. Vai was in Arizona already on his way to a radio station and he was hoping the writer would be there becuase "If he thinks Canseco got a beating, wait until he sees me in person". He was fired up.
And eleven days later, beat Arizona by 28.

ok, excellent simpsons reference aside (bravo), bringing up a head to head matchup is much more relevant than bringing up a completely random game. You just picked the eagles worst game of the year and said "see, the cards are going to win". Um, no. it means the eagles could play a horrible game. Just like Delhomme did. But, it has very little bearing on this game. While the TGiving matchup has everything to do with this game. We got to see how players match up one on one.i think cards fans are just riding the high of actually hosting this game (and thats fine). But, you're delusional if you think the cards are favorites or that the previous matchup means nothing.

Every time I think about this game I come back to when Warner played with the Giants and how he could not handle any sort of defensive pressure. My crystal ball says K.Warner will have two fumbles (one loss) and an INT.

Does the Eagles' Center have a "tell" when they're in the shotgun?
I first noticed it after the Giants were complaining last week that the way he was jerking his head around should have been a false start.
After that, he didn't jerk his head as much, but every time the Eagles were in the shotgun, he'd turn his head to the left, then turn it back straight right before snapping the ball.
I'll check it out on the NFLN replay of the Thanksgiving game tonight. If I can notice that, I would have to think every D Lineman in the NFL would know it, which makes me think I'm wrong. But it sure looked that way to me in that game.

There has been a lot talk of "tells" on the Dan Patrick show the past couple weeks. Especially after the Cards/Falcons game when the Card D line was going at the exact instant the ball was snapped. According to most of the guys DP has interviewed, virtually every player in the league has a tell. But, they're not 100% reliable, and if the player knows about it he can use it as a false tell to maybe draw a penalty. So, bottom line, yeah Jackson probably has a tell. But, so does every other guy on the field.

Sure they are. A team that's 3-7 outside of a dreadful division that's already been whooped by the Eagles and riding a imaginary wave of confidence after the Panthers gift wrapped a victory with the bow tied by Jake Delhomme.

I really dont think that the previous matchup matters whatsoever. And I am not just sayin this because I am a Cards fan. I am a realist, and both teams are totally different football teams and are playing their best football of the season. Plus, the Cardinals virtually already had the division locked up when they played the first time. And I know its dumb to say that the Cardinals took the last few weeks easy, but it really looks like that happened to an extent. And bringing up the point of them "having the worst division in history" or whatever you pulled out is 100% pointless. The regular season doesn't mean anything, so all this matchup talk from the regular season is a waste of time IMO. Playoff football is a totally different game.
Its a high powered offense against one of the stingiest defenses in the league. I read today that the Eagles don't necessarily stick Asante on the best WR, they play left and right. I personally think that Fitz and/or Boldin will out play Brown when it's man coverage. Both teams will get their big plays and I wont be surprised if there are only 2 or so turnovers in this game. I expect a close game throughout with some big defensive stops. Edge/Hightower won't be big factors, but they don't need to be. They just need to keep the defense honest. I am not worried about Westbrook running all over us, but the Cardinals defense has had some breakdowns on covering the RB out of the back field quite a few times this year so hopefully they are fixing that up this week. I won't be suprised of Westy takes a screen or 2 for some solid yardage.
But all in all I think that Kurt holds onto the ball like he has the past few weeks and won't turn the ball over. The Cards defense will keep the game close enough for the Cards to get a last minute drive to get into fieldgoal range and take the lead late in the game.
I expect like a 23-21 or 27-24 type game with the Redbirds pullin it out.

So I guess the fact that Arizona gave up more passing touchdowns than any other team this season is also irrelevant? Because it took place over the course of 17 meaningless regular season weeks?

Sure. Why not? They didn't give any up last week, until a garbage time TD to S.Smith when I don't even think all of the starters were in and two to the Falcons. So giving up 2 meaningful TD passes in the first two weeks of the playoffs seems like it is a bit more important and relevant than a regular season stat. What do you think?

I'm a little worried from an emotional standpoint. 3rd week in a row, on the road, against a team that you beat handily the first time. I'd always rather be playing with revenge. And Warner has plenty of playoff experience.
The Eagles defense, however, is far superior to Carolina's. Look at the Panther D down the stretch. The blew the lead and gave up over 30 pts vs. New York, then gave up 30 vs. the Saints.....Arizona's D has played two primarily running teams but now they play more of a passing team.
This game will come down to whether the Eagles can get pressure on and hit Kurt Warner. If he has all day back there, he's as dangerous as anyone in the league, especially in no wind, warm conditions...

I have a feeling this is the week we see Brain Westbrook break out. I know he has a big catch and run against the Vikes but he really hasn't done much else in the playoffs so far. I am expecting a big game from him.

That stat has been reported to be bogus. I haven't spent the time digging to see if it's, in fact, accurate, but no matter. The Eagles will win, making it irrelevant.
