NFC Championship Pregame - Philadelphia Eagles at Arizona Cardinals (1 Viewer)

As a Cardinal fan, I feel much better about this game than the Panther game.
Why? Is it the fact that you already lost to the Eagles by 4 TDs? Or the fact that the Eagles have a top 5 D, while the Panthers are top 15 (maybe). Or, maybe its the 3 probowl corners and probowl safety the Eagles have?Ok, all trash talk aside, what about this game makes you more comfortable?
I'm guessing it stems from the fact that no one expected the Cards to win last week, not even their fans. Now they are believing in their team more, but the Eagles and the Panthers are very different teams. The Cards are better at home too which probably makes them more comfortable.
Bingo! We thought we were dead going on the road last week, but after our victory, every single Cardinal fan prayed for an Eagles victory so this game would have to come back to the desert. I understand that the Eagles are a great team, and are playing unbeleivable defense, but we have faith in our home field advantage and we feel we have a way better chance in this game than any other possible NFC Championship match up. I truly hope the Eagles players put as much stock in that Turkey Day game as the fans have been doing. This should be a great game and, like most games, whoever wins the turnover battle wins the game IMO.
ok, so who would you rather have (and i cant believe i am going to say this)...the QB who is the all time leader in lowest INT ratio, or the QB with 114 career INTs and 91 career fumbles? Yes, Iggles fans, i did just use McNabb as an example of why they should win.Other than a healthy Asante and a dinged up Boldin, i just dont see how this game is much different than the one on TGiving. Ok, its the playoffs, so i am sure the intensity will be higher and maybe that means the Cards lose by 2 TDs instead of 4 :lmao:Your whole argument is based on the excitement of the fans to have another home game. Last i checked, that doesnt mean more than a few points on the field. :hophead:
Comparing the QBs is silly IMO. They are both VERY good and VERY capable of winning this game. Kurt has a ring and was a league and Super Bowl MVP for crying out loud, so don't use the "our QB is better than your QB" argument for why the Iggles will win...it just doesn't apply. There was a question asked why we feel more confident in this game than against Carolina. I simply pointed out that we feel more confident at home than on the road, regardless of the team. The Cards play better at home. They were extremely shaky on the road all year. I guess I don't see why it is hard to understand why we wanted to come home for this game, regardless of the outcome. And I will admit we got beat up by the Eagles on T-Day. But that was a long way to travel, on a short week, after playing one of the most physical teams in football. We lacked focus, and that showed with two early TO's which changed the entire flow of the game. Westbrook killed us in that game, but his 1.9 YPC in the playoffs gives me another reason to be confident.I said earlier I think this will be a good game, and whichever team wins the TO battle wins the game. Take care of the football and force turnovers, that is the key to playoff victory. How great is it going to be watching the Asante/Fitz matchup?
I don't Warner has ever done well against the JJ Defense (in it's various personnel incarnations). As an Eagles fan, I am confident that going into this...the Eagles are the better team. I think their personnel and their coaching (Reid's gameplan now as opposed to earlier in the season) are better, they have more playmakers on both sides of the ball and they will be able to tee off on Warner as I don't think the Cards rushing game is anything to get worried about. They have more playoff experience, I think they are going to be more balanced (not just happy to be here), I think that several of their players think this is a last dance of sorts and will play with a certain level of intensity that the Cards won't match. They should win. That being said, it's not like they are playing a JV or CFL team. That Cards have been playing good football and if the Cards win the turnover battle....they'll probably win the game.

an eerie stat for eagles fans:teams that beat the defending super bowl champ in the playoffs are 0-11 the next week. here's to ending that streak.
That stat has been reported to be bogus. I haven't spent the time digging to see if it's, in fact, accurate, but no matter. The Eagles will win, making it irrelevant. :lmao:
in '91 the giants knocked off then defending '89 and '90 super bowl champs the SF 49ers in SF. The giants went on to win the whole thing. that stat is useless.

When Eagles Fans are trying to figure out what went wrong Sunday afternoon they may want to revisit some of the following assumptions:1. ..."i just dont see how this game is much different than the one on TGiving"

2. "I think their personnel and their coaching...are better..."

3. "...they have more playmakers on both sides of the ball..."

4. "...they will be able to tee off on Warner...

5. "I don't think the Cards rushing game is anything to get worried about."

6. "...will play with a certain level of intensity that the Cards won't match."

Warner is 2-4 against JJ. The Eagles should dominate the trenches also. Should be a tough game............for 2 or 3 quarters.

The stat is useless. However, if it were worded as follows: teams that beat the defending super bowl champ in the playoffs are 0-11 the next week provided that the next week isn't the superbowl, i believe its true.

I think the crowd is going to be the reason Arizona wins this game. I know Philly just won in Minnesota and NY but Arizona fans are going nuts and all the bandwagoners will be out with full force. Finally a reason to be loud and Arizona usually plays very well at home. I see Arizona winning this 27-17.

 I agree, the players are professionals, I'd be surprised if Reid didn't have every frame of the Thanksgiving game burned. They will be ready for Championship play. I was just trying to find a point of reference for the FANS when they are trying to figure out how their team just lost in the NFCCG...again, and to the freaking Arizona Cardinals this time...

here's a few for you once reality sets in about midway through the 3rd quarter, when the Cards are down by 30 again...1. "Oh well, it was a fun run"

2. "We won the NFC West, quite possibly the worst division in the history of the modern NFL"

3. "Can i give back my season tickets for next year"

4. "Did we really think we would win with a statue at QB and an old man at RB?"

5. "We've had 3 playoff wins since the Eisnehower administration and 2 of them were this year"

21 years of being a Cardinals fan, 21 years of being #### on time and time again, and 21 years of being intimate with the knowledge of this teams legendary association with futility, tells me all of the above could and should come to fruition. I can't think of a better indicator of the future than the past.Cardinal fans are conditioned to expect the worst. You wanna know something weird though? Even the most beat down, hardened, suspicious Cardinal fans I know (including myself) expect the Cardinals to win this game. That should tell you something, seriously, think about it.

In 16 hours University of Phoenix stadium is going to be filled with 65,000 pissed off fans with 21 years of burden to unleash in a 3 hour session. If the Eagles come out and dominate, there is no other fan base better prepared for disappointment. I was just trying to help out the Philly fans who might be looking for a place to start figuring out what went wrong when the unthinkable happens...

There's mass delusion in Arizona? C'mon, no way the majority of Cards fans think you're winning this game. That's silly talk.

My prediction:

Eagles 38

Cards 17

The Cards have thrived on creating the turnover this post season...

The Eagles don't turn the ball over often.

Warner is not mobile and has issues holding on to the ball.

Eagles Defense will create at least 3 turnovers.

Home field has not been a factor so far in this playoffs...

shouldn't be a factor in this game.

It's freaking me out, but yes we do. We thought we should beat Atlanta, but didn't think we would. We thought we wouldn't beat Carolina and we did. We think we should beat Philly, and we will.

Going to the game tomorrow and having issues. I want to support the HOME team. (Cardinals) But this band wagon stuff makes me want to puke. Was going to roll in with cardinal colors on. (I want to support them and will be happy to see them get a HUGE win.) I just dont think I can roll into the stadium in their colors. It feels dirty and wrong. Put the Viking gear in the truck and will tailgate in the Cards colors then change and take my lumps inside the stadium. ADP jersey and a Vikings lid boys and girls. Wifes doing the same. I feel better now. :thumbup:BTW, betting on belief. Took the Cards and got 4.5 and the Ravens and got 7.5. I'm EXTREMELY confident that I bring home the cabbage on a two team bet. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT !! Cant wait and need to get to bed for a five am wake up and a three hour drive. GO CARDS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :boxing: :tfp: :football: :football:

The crowd will win the game for the Cardinals, now I've heard it all :banned: You think the Giants fans weren't pumped up? Bandwagon fans get quiet the fastest when the game doesn't go their way.

Wow, I didn't even know the Cardinals had fans. When did you guys jump on the bandwagon, 3 weeks ago?
:goodposting: I don't think most of these guys watched the RedBirds this year. By the way they're talking smack.....you'd think this team was a 14 and 2 powerhouse....not a 9 - 7 team. At least most Eagles fans are acknowledging that the opposition could win.

:lmao: at all the winning Cardinal predictions. Even the so called talking head "experts" on tv are getting caught up in the Cards run. A team with zero running game has no chance against this Eagles D. This game isn't really gonna be all that close, the final score will be closer than the actual game played. Kiss of death, Hank the Tank Goldberg just predicted a Cards outright win. See you boys next year. :lmao:

Well, 4 hours before kickoff, and here is what matters right now to me - as an Eagles fan. I've seen this team go on playoff runs recently - all the way to the NFCCG or beyond 5 times in last 8 seasons, playoffs 7 times in the Reid/McNabb era - and I'm telling you...something is different.

The Eagles just have a different "feel" about them right now. Loose. Cohesive. Ready. Call it what you will. It is striking in difference to the other playoff runs. This team is more relaxed, more confident, and playing at a higher level than the other runs they have made; at least it sure appears that way.

Could it all disappear into thin air today? Absolutely. But I feel more confident about this team, this run, this QB, this coaching staff than the last few excursions into the postseason. This has nothing to do w/Arizona as opposed to the past where Philly battled TB, Carolina, STL, etc... The switch went "on" for this team. It's fun to watch.

Phillies lead, Eagles follow...I mean, even the 76ers have won 7 straight! What's going on in Philly?!?!?!?!?

Eagles 33, Cards 24.

Arizona plays well today, IMO. But Philly will control the clock and the line of scrimmage here. And a Cards passing attack is slowed by a world class secondary. I expect a good deal out of Buckhalter today.

And yes, my playoff beard itches.

You are riight, the final score was closer than the actual game played. I am usually a classy winner, but you Eagle fans speaking in your "absolutes" and disrespecting our ability all week has me fired up. Enjoy the flight home..........losers!
