NFL Comeback Player of the Year (1 Viewer)

If he wasn't such a jerk, Kellen Winslow would get more consideration. After everything that he has been through, to put up 71 catches, 694 yards and three touchdowns in 13 games for the Browns is a very good season.
This is a good point. Plus he's coming off two straight injury-marred seasons.
see other posts regarding Grossman and Harrington - you have to come back FROM somewhere to win the award.being injured since his rookie season and having never DONE anything previously, Winslow's name won't come up.Chase - Bruschi overcame career threatening injury and was the biggest feel-good story of the last 10 years in the NFL. That won;t be repeated this year with all the truly viable candidates.Brees and Palmer will have their names bantied about, but one of the RBs will win this award, and it'll probably be Deuce (as I posted a month and a half ahgo when we first did this merry-go-round.

IMO, this isnt even up for debate. Deuce is far and away the comeback player of the year. Although Brees is playing like a champion, he played an entire season last year. He wont win the award. Palmer played the entire season as well, so I think he is nixed also. Deuce, who has been tearing defenses up (mainly cause of that guy named Reggie), deserves the award without question.
Interesting that we will have four saints in the running for major awards - Brees will lose the MVP to LT, Deuce will be considered a top Comeback Player, Colston could get back on pace for ROY this week, and Reggie Bush will be discussed for some lower level ROY.

Can you please inform me of what TO's injury was last year?
The award is for coming back from adversity, not just injury.
Your exact quote.
T.O.? What has he done this season that deserves rewarding?
72-971-9 after an injury last year. You are preaching to the choir that he doesn't deserve to be rewarded for anything, but he will probably garner some consideration for the award.
You said he was injured. What was the injury?

Actual deserving players: Ahman Green, Duece, maybe Pennington. No one ever, EVER, came back from the injury Ahman had and had a career. You tear your quad off the bone, the NFL draws up the retirement papers. If he finishes the year strong, he's got it locked up.
  :goodposting:
Even more impressive was that he had a very strong Game 1 (no fear of reinjury) and is running behind one of youngest lines in history. 3 rookies and a 2nd year player right now. I believe his fullback may also be a rookie and has a rookie down field blocking WR.

Yeah, I don't see how Brees would be in the running for this. In order to be Comeback POY, you would have had to have been injured most/all of the prior season or just absolutely sucked/wasn't used. Since Brees falls into neither category, I don't see how he could be considered for this. He was injured Week 17, folks! He should be in the running for MVP, but not Comeback POY. Some good names have been mentioned by others in this thread. Henry, I think, is very deserving of this award. Walker, possibly. Also Ahman would be a good choice...
